"You must be kidding me," Josh exclaimed, his mouth falling open the moment we arrived in front of the Danish restaurant. The best in town.
I was expecting this reaction from him because I wouldn't also believe it if I didn't know how much I possessed in my account. I still had a total of 980 million dollars untouched so I was very confident in my abilities.
They deserved everything and more. Josh had rallied around to help me in my downtime without asking for a refund. Even my grandmother had combed everything she had to help me.
"Are you sure you will be able to afford even the smallest plate of food?" He inquired from me and I kept on chuckling.
"Are you sure you didn't get involved in money laundering or something illegal? This is unreal. We cannot afford the hefty prices attached to these meals. Let's just go back before we get disgraced. It wouldn't make any sense if that happened to us now, would it?" He inquired with a whisper, concerns stretching across his face as he tried to make his points clear.
My grandmother's face also stretched into a frown as she reconsidered her presence here. I rolled my eyes at his disbelief but didn't fault him anyway. It was normal for a lot of people to feel that something was up and I sincerely did not want to change anything about my friend. He was right to be afraid.
"I believe that there is something more that you are not telling me, and it breaks my heart because it only shows that you do not trust me," Josh spoke.
I shrugged nonchalantly because there was absolutely nothing up my sleeves but secrecy attached to my heritage.
"Let's not worry about all of this and go in to enjoy the meal. We might not have had access to stuff like this but this is going to be a part of our lives henceforth. The least you can do is try to be happy about it. I don't want you thinking about the pros and cons, I have not engaged in anything bad."
"That's him right there! Get him!" I heard voices coming from behind me and I turned.
Four men crossed the sidewalk and pointed at us. I instinctively stood in front of the duo, thinking that it was Mikky who sent these hooligans to rough us up.
"Who are you and why are you pointing at us?" I demanded from them confidently that I had nothing to fear anymore after having access to my father's limitless wealth. They should bow to me instead.
A man adjusted his glasses before coughing. "Move away, boy. You don't want to get on my last nerve." He ordered.
I turned and saw my grandmother shivering, so I sighed. Who did these people think they were to cause fear in the people who were with me?
"You!" He pointed at Josh who was trembling like a leaf in a blight of wind. My eyebrows furrowed in amazement because I had never expected my friend to be so timid in the presence of some people who I had never come in contact with in my life.
Yet he didn't look like he could move and I was a bit worried about him. Why was he acting this way?
"Where is my money?" The man demanded.
I glanced at Josh, whose mouth fell open and close, yet no words were produced. It was almost as though he was a fish gasping for breath. I did not know what to say at that point.
A whimper tore out of my grandmother's mouth and that alerted me. She didn't need to witness whatever was going on between Josh and these men. My grandmother had already endured a lot of insults, and the last thing I wanted most was for it to continue.
Josh was still trembling as he was unable to defend himself. I was worried about him and knew I had to figure out what was going on so we could enjoy our meal without any drama.
"Who the hell are you guys?" I shot at them, crossing my arms defiantly.
The guy I figured was the leader stepped forward, laughing in a way that made my blood boil. "Aww, poor Josh. It's too bad he didn't tell you how much he owes me, huh? Now he’s just making a fool of himself in front of you," he sneered, and I felt an overwhelming urge to punch him right then.
I turned to Josh, confused. "What’s he talking about?" I asked, trying to get to the bottom of why he was in such a tight spot.
"I borrowed some money from him so that I could treat my father," Josh explained and I looked at him in shock.
"Why didn't you say anything?" I asked him, one would never know that he was carrying such a burden because he always stomached his problems.
He ignored my words. "I-I promise to repay you as soon as my paycheck for this month comes in." Josh's voice trembled as he pleaded for mercy.
The man grinned, "Yet, you came to such an expensive restaurant to eat? How noble! Well, it's too late now. I need my money right now, or I'll break your legs and wreck the tiny little place you call home." The leader bragged and brought out a cigarette from his pockets.
He lit it and took a drag. "What would it be, dear Josh?" he spoke in a sing-song voice.
Josh began to sweat from his forehead downwards and I decided to step in. I wasn't going to watch my friend in such a dilemma.
"How much is his debt?" I rose to his defense.
The leader threw his head back and laughed, "You think this is funny? Do you even know how much he owes me?""I'm guessing he hasn't filled you in, which is why you think you can help him out. It's pretty laughable to think someone like you could actually do anything for your friend in this situation." His tone was serious now, and the grin vanished as he shot me a fierce look.I stood my ground, legs firmly planted, ready to face whatever they wanted to throw at me.Josh had done too much for me to let anyone disrespect him like that.I crossed my arms and waited for them to finish. "Are you done yet?" I asked, brushing off the gentle pull from my friend who was probably worried about me getting
I quickly performed a head count as the men alighted from their cars. Twelve solid men in powerful suits, looking every inch as powerful as they should.A man stepped forward out of the dozen and headed towards me.He was intercepted by the leader of the gang and his henchmen. "Good..." The leader trailed off when he saw their faces grow grim. The group moved past the leader and his gang towards me and bowed as soon as they got close. "Young master." They chorused."Is this the guy who offended you?" I could see the perplexed look on the leader's face, and there was nothing wrong with him."I am sorry," the leader quickly apolo
"I will see you guys later. Thanks for coming earlier." I told Cole and his men cryptically who nodded, before bowing."You are welcome, young master." They chorused.I felt weirded out because I wasn't used to something like this but understood that it was their way of life."Tell him I said thank you," I replied again cryptically hoping that Josh didn't decipher it."We will... If you need anything else, please do not hesitate to call us." Cole spoke.I nodded curtly, watching as they entered into their cars and drove off.A hand tapped on mine aggressi
I stood outside the girls' dorm, buzzing with excitement. I couldn't believe how quickly I got there as I read the text again, muttering it under my breath in disbelief. [Hey handsome, can you come over right now? I’m alone and bored, craving something hard and warm. I promise I’ll do all the work. We’ll take it slow, and you’re going to scream.]I was in shock. Diana and I had been together for over a year, and she had never invited me to her place before. Our relationship had always been pretty low-key, but seeing that message made it clear she wanted to take things up a notch. We usually spent our time together at the library before my evening shifts.Yesterday, she mentioned she wouldn’t be heading to the library, so I figured I’d skip it too and just take a break. But now I can tell she’s missing me and wants to see me. I made my way to her room, ready to knock, when I heard a weird noise that made me stop. I double-checked her room number, and yep, it was the same. “I tho
I barged in, and as soon as they saw me, they scrambled to gather their clothes in a panic. "How dare you barge into a woman’s room like that! Don’t you have any manners?" Diana snapped, her face twisted with indignation."I bet his parents were too busy reproducing to even remember their responsibilities," Mikky chimed in with a sneer. I shot him a deadly glare, my fists clenched with fury, before turning my full attention to Diana.“Did you send me those texts just so I could walk in on this mess?!” I snapped, struggling to keep my anger in check.Diana didn’t respond; instead, she dashed to grab her phone and started typing furiously. I watched her, feeling a mix of hurt and rage. I had done so much for her, and this was how she repaid me. I had gone above and beyond to make her happy, even when it meant risking my own tuition.I even bought her the phone she was using. My heart sank when she finally found what she was looking for, tossed the phone aside, and rolled her eyes.
The crowd erupted in laughter. The pain was excruciating, radiating through every part of my body as I lay helpless on the cold ground. I tried to stand, but my legs gave out beneath me, my muscles too weak and beaten. Mikky’s lackeys had done their job well, keeping me pinned while their fists and feet drove the point home—I was nothing compared to him.Around me, the crowd cheered with satisfaction, enjoying every second of my humiliation. Not a single person stepped forward to help. They were entertained, not concerned. I felt completely alone, battered and broken, struggling to catch my breath. I turned my gaze, trying to find Diana, hoping for a glimmer of sympathy—anything that showed she still cared, even a little. But there she was, arms folded, a smug smile on her face. She was proud of this. Proud to see me beaten, and humiliated like an insect beneath Mikky’s feet. My stomach churned, but not just from the physical pain—it was the emotional betrayal that crushed me.
The car hummed again, almost as if sending signals to the men standing before me, their heads bowed. “Mr. Jordan, please, you have to come with us.” I observed them closely as they stood in two neat lines, one opposite the other, leaving a narrow space between.Or did Mikky send his men to kidnap me? No, this can’t be. Mikky's car is flashy, but this... this is way too luxurious for him. The sleek white Rolls-Royce, the polished interior—it didn’t match his obnoxious flaunting of wealth. He’s rich, sure, but not like this."Where are you taking me?" I asked, my voice firmer this time, though a knot tightened in my chest, and my body still ached from the earlier ordeal. I wasn’t in the mood for more trouble. The man in front, the one who had greeted me so respectfully, looked down at his feet, pretending he hadn’t heard the question. Another man, standing just behind him, shifted uncomfortably."Mr. Jordan," the first man began again, "it's best if you just come with us. We’ll expl
The guys who brought me here were totally quiet as they guided me further into the mansion, leaving my questions hanging without answers.More bodyguards were scattered around, their expressions impossible to read. And whoever owned this place… they definitely had plans for me. I couldn’t find a way out; every escape route I thought of felt pointless, and I had no clue how to navigate my way back.My steps stumbled when I noticed an unfamiliar old man standing in the center of the room. He had this regal vibe, decked out in a sharp suit that practically shouted wealth and his gray hair was slicked back with a precision that only someone used to luxury could manage. His posture was straight, but his eyes… there was something familiar in them. When our gazes met, he paused for just a moment, then his face transformed. His eyes sparkled with an emotion I couldn't quite identify—was it shock, relief, or maybe excitement? It was like he’d seen a ghost. The man stood up, almost stumbling
