Chapter #13. Training the Tiger Hunter Sword Technique

Tonight, Tian Fan spent his time training physically, channeling his frustration into rigorous practice.

Tian Fan recalled the words of his teacher, Guan Wei: "Why are humans more dangerous than beasts?"

Because humans possess inherent qualities of jealousy, malice, and envy, constantly competing and undermining each other.

Other inherent traits include arrogance, lack of compassion, and a absence of mercy and empathy. They will attack anyone, relying on their ferocity and strength, sharp claws, and fangs. Their character is one of cruelty, devoid of justice.

The strong rule, and the weak perish. There is no measure of right and wrong, only a display of power. This is what we know as the law of the jungle.

The strong survive, and the weak are humiliated. The brave oppress the cowardly. The strong devour the weak."

Because of this, his teacher advised Tian Fan to choose his companions wisely, evaluate people carefully, and never become someone who is used or uses others.

And most importantly, to use his strength and intelligence for the benefit of many.

Tian Fan took his teacher's words to heart as his guiding principles.

Moans still echoed from inside the cave, but Tian Fan, hearing them, remained indifferent and casually walked into the cave.

Seeing Tian Fan's arrival, Sun Li smiled with joy, while Xi Shi remained arrogant, even though she knew she needed help now.

This stubborn and spoiled attitude had nearly led to the deaths of Sun Li and herself. However, even in the face of danger, she couldn't bring herself to acknowledge her mistakes.

Tian Fan approached Sun Li. "Senior, how are you feeling now? Is there still any pain?"

"Senior has improved, thanks to the help of Fan. ...Fan, can senior... ask for your help to save Shi'er?"

"I'm sorry, senior. I cannot fulfill your request," Tian Fan replied candidly.

Sun Li understood Tian Fan's refusal, realizing that Xi Shi, with her arrogance, didn't see Tian Fan's sincerity in helping her.

Tian Fan handed four pills to Sun Li and asked him to take two today, assuring him that by tomorrow, Sun Li would be able to walk again.

"Senior Li, senior Xi, I must take my leave as there are some matters I need to attend to," Tian Fan said again.

Tian Fan clasped his hands in a show of respect and promptly departed without a single glance in Xi Shi's direction.

Xi Shi could only watch Tian Fan's departure until he disappeared from her sight. She had wanted to ask for his help and apologize for her behavior, but her ego got the better of her. She cursed herself for her selfishness.

Three days passed, and Tian Fan returned in better spirits. He had recently followed a pack of silver wolf beasts that had attacked the territory of the Earth Bear Beast realm.

The Earth Bear beasts, still injured from the first attack by the silver wolf pack, fell victim to a successful second assault.

Tian Fan was delighted, as he had obtained many new and rare medicinal plants, plus the bonus of the Earth Bear Beast in its final realm stage, a 5-meter tall and 8-meter long treasure for Tian Fan.

Upon arriving at his cave, Tian Fan saw Sun Li standing outside with an inscrutable expression on his face.

Seeing Tian Fan's arrival, Sun Li hurried over and pulled him inside the cave.

"Little Fan, please quickly check on Shi'er. She has been unconscious for two days now."

Tian Fan immediately examined her and reassured Sun Li, "Senior, there's no need to worry; she is perfectly fine. It's likely that she lost consciousness from enduring too much pain."

Tian Fan then gave Xi Shi some pills of his own making.

Without being asked, Tian Fan proceeded to help the still unconscious Xi Shi, with Sun Li by his side.

Reluctantly, Sun Li complied with Tian Fan's request. After treating Xi Shi, Tian Fan handed several pills to Sun Li to give to her.

Seven days passed, and Tian Fan spent much of his time practicing and honing his physical abilities.

He hadn't returned to his cave in several days, as Tian Fan explored the newly conquered territory of the Silver Wolf Beast Pack.

This region, once under the control of the Earth Bear Beast, was rich in high-quality medicinal plants and housed many powerful beasts.

Here, Tian Fan began to test his sword skills, particularly the Black-class sword technique from the sword manual, the Tiger Hunter Sword Technique.

This technique relied on high-speed attacks, culminating in a powerful strike with both hands, creating a sharp sword slash and a blade of wind.

After two days of perfecting the Tiger Hunter Sword Technique, Tian Fan found that a single strike could cleave a large rock and cut down five trees behind it. And that was using just his physical strength.

Tian Fan then trained with his qi, and the results were three times more devastating.

After a brief rest, Tian Fan roamed the forest in search of opponents. He encountered a fierce Forest Boar Beast in its final realm stage, standing at three meters tall. The beast immediately attacked him.

They exchanged blows, with Tian Fan trying to find an opening to use his sword technique. However, the agile movements of the Forest Boar Beast made it challenging for Tian Fan.

His biggest challenge was his lack of experience using the sword and his technique in combat. After some time and adjustments, Tian Fan finally defeated the Forest Boar Beast.

Throughout the day, Tian Fan hunted in the depths of the red forest to further train his sword and newly acquired technique.

Several beasts in their final realm stage fell to his sword technique. Feeling drained of his qi due to the extensive use of his technique, Tian Fan decided to cultivate to restore his energy.

As he was about to begin cultivation, Tian Fan was attacked from a distance. He caught the object thrown towards him and opened his hand to reveal a pill - a Qi-replenishing pill.

Tian Fan glanced in the direction of the attack, even though the thrower was quite far away. His keen senses allowed him to spot an elderly man standing 200 meters in that direction.

Tian Fan realized that the old man must be observing him, so he respectfully saluted from afar.

The old man said, "Hoo... a fascinating young one, being able to detect my presence here."

Tian Fan then consumed the Qi-replenishing pill and, shortly after, finished absorbing its effects.

He approached the old man, saying, "Junior pays respects to Master," as he respectfully cupped his hands.

"Thank you, Master, for the Qi-replenishing pill."

"No need to be so formal, young one... it's just a pill," the old man replied.

Tian Fan sensed that there might be some underlying intention behind the old man's gesture. Feeling that the old man meant well, Tian Fan responded warmly, "As a token of my gratitude, may I be of assistance to you, Master?"

"Hahaha... young one, it seems you understand my intent. I apologize if this old man used slightly improper means."

Tian Fan simply smiled in response.

" Young one, it seems you have been living in this forest for quite some time. Have you ever seen a young man and a woman wearing robes with the symbol of the sun, similar to mine?"

Tian Fan hesitated briefly. Seeing his hesitation, the old man understood his doubts.

"Young one, this old man is their teacher," he said.

Tian Fan remained cautious, not fully trusting the old man yet.

"Forgive me if I am bold, but if you are their master, could you provide me with their names and descriptions?"

The old man then described his two disciples and mentioned their names, Sun Li and Xi Shi.

Tian Fan, upon hearing the description and names, finally nodded and trusted the old man.

"Young one, do you know where my disciples are? Let me accompany you to them. By chance, both of my disciples are currently in my dwelling place. Shall we, Master? The journey is about one day to the south from here, towards my home."

They then set off together to Tian Fan's cave.

During their journey, the old man introduced himself as Liu Bai, the 19th elder of the Sun Sect, tasked by the sect's master to find his two disciples, who had been missing for quite some time.
