Chapter 7: Quest Mission (1)
"Of course you have to use the various objects that are there. Is there something wrong?"
Steve glanced at Ben and the boxes on the floor in turn. He swallowed forcefully. Steve's hands lifted the items one by one and put them away on the sofa.
"You think I want to use these things?" asked Steve while pointing at the objects that he thought were too strange to use.
How could they not? In the box Samantha brought, there were shoes that were much shabbier than the ones she was wearing, a shirt that was torn in several places, a pair of short jeans that had a torn in the thigh, and large sunglasses that looked ancient. But what Steve couldn't get enough of were the false teeth.
The problem is that the dentures look so bad, and with the arrangement of the teeth that look untidy, some even come forward. If Steve used these, he made sure he looked ridiculous, as if he had buck teeth.
"This thing is much worse than I thought," Steve commented.
"It's perfect for your disguise, so you don't get caught by the Griffins," Ben said tiredly.
"So, what kind of disguise do you want?"
"At least a better one than this," Steve said in a low tone. "I'm embarrassed to have to use this stuff. It makes me look like a bum."
Terry, who heard Steve's excuse, immediately grabbed Steve's shabby shirt. His eyes bulged as his jaw tightened.
The grip was so strong that it made it difficult for Steve to breathe. Even though his body was bigger than Terry's. But the man's strength was no match for him.
"Don't complain so much and just use what I've painstakingly prepared for this disguise, Steve," Terry said in a low tone. He suppressed every word that came out of his mouth. A dominant and authoritarian aura came out of his body.
"Do I know how much of a headache it was for me to plan so that you wouldn't get caught when we infiltrated later?!"
Ben immediately patted his brother's back gently to stop this argument. He didn't want Terry to hurt Steve just because of a momentary emotion.
"Let him go, Terry," Ben pleaded, trying to calm Terry down by rubbing the man's back. "Don't let your emotions control you. He's our colleague who will help us out of this job."
As if regaining his sanity, Terry released his grip on Steve's shirt. The man rubbed his face roughly. His eyes turned the other way, reluctant to meet Steve's gaze.
"I'm sorry, I didn't get enough sleep to get emotional," he said apologetically.
"It's okay. Don't do it again, Terry." Steve turned his face in another direction, precisely towards the object he had taken out of the box for his disguise.
"Never mind that," Ben intervened, so they wouldn't blame each other.
"Come on, put on that disguise so we can infiltrate the Griffin residence immediately. It's almost time," Ben reminded him as he tapped the watch on his wrist.
Steve nodded, picked up all the items on the table, and hobbled to the bathroom. Terry, who saw that, felt heartbroken. Therefore, he said.
"Do you want me to help you walk to the bathroom?"
"No need. I can do it myself," Steve said quietly, and he resumed his walk. He went into the bathroom and used the object Terry had prepared to complete his disguise.
After waiting for less than ten minutes, Ben, Terry, and Steve drove to the Griffin residence in a car that looked quite old. Steve knew that this was a car that belonged to one of the Griffin families for the workers who worked at their residence.
"So, how's the plan going?" asked Steve as he looked at the siblings, who were also wearing their disguises.
Terry had dragon-shaped patch tattoos on his left hand and neck, while Ben himself was wearing black contact lenses to keep his heterochromia eyes out of sight.
"We will be working in the back garden near the fountain, as you said before," Terry said, opening his voice and taking out the small notebook in his pocket.
"You'll be working to clear the weeds in the approximate places we've marked. So, you won't be moving too much, and your leg can heal quickly," Terry added, giving instructions to Steve.
"If I work on clearing weeds, what will you guys work on?" I asked Steve in a confused tone.
"I'll be working at the back to organize the archives while giving instructions to you through these earphones." Ben handed over a special earphone that he had modified like a walkie-talkie to communicate with his two colleagues.
"Meanwhile, Terry himself will be working as a porter near you," Ben added.
"Why does Terry get that part?" asked Steve in surprise. He felt that this division of labor seemed unfair and burdensome to the man he had been arguing with.
"So that he can work out," said Ben, looking at his brother with a flat look, which Terry returned with an indifferent stare. "He's a gym freak and wants to enlarge his arms. So don't be surprised if he gets some pretty rough and tough jobs."
"But won't we get caught working there? I mean-"
"No!" Terry immediately interrupted Steve's words with a firm tone before the man could finish his sentence. His pointed eyes were staring at the mobile phone screen while writing something on the notepad he was holding.
"I've calculated everything. After all, we are undercover." Terry hung up his sentence and looked at Steve with an intense gaze.
"Ben and I have been there many times, and the Griffins already know that we are just "part-time workers." Also, don't do anything flashy so this job can go perfectly."
"Okay, I got it."
The three of them arrived at the Griffin residence. There was a strange feeling stirring in Steve at having to return to that place, the place where he was humiliated and embarrassed last night by Daniel and his ex-wife, Minji.
Terry went straight to the back with Steve. He draped Steve's arm over his shoulder and helped the man walk in order to get on with the mission.
Meanwhile, Ben was seen having a conversation with David Griffin, who is the head of the family and Steve's ex-in-law.
Terry started helping Steve to squat down after providing him with gardening tools to trim all the weeds that were thriving in the back garden. He brought his body close to Steve's ear.
"Do your job quickly. After this task is completed, you may be able to earn a million dollars if the accuracy rate of the information you have is 100 percent."
"I understand. Leave it to me."
Terry gave a small nod and left Steve to start their work while looking for where the gold box was.
Steve started to use the grass clippers to trim the weeds around him. He did his work quickly because he was used to doing this.
His eyes carefully watched every corner to see the situation while looking for the Griffin family's gold box.
While focusing on his work, Steve could see a pair of shoes in front of him. Spontaneously, he looked up to see whose feet it was. As it turned out, it was Daniel, his ex brother-in-law.
Steve felt his chest beating fast, with sweat flooding his body. Emotion overcame him again. However, Steve tried to control himself so that Terry's plan would not be ruined by his actions.
"Oh, so you're the new employee of the Griffin family?" Daniel looked Steve up and down sarcastically. "Your face is so ugly. You should wear a mask so as not to spoil the view of my eyes." Daniel commented scathingly.
Steve clenched his hands into fists to contain his anger. He didn't say anything for fear that Daniel would recognize his words.
Seeing Steve, who was in disguise mode, not respond to his words made Daniel annoyed. The man immediately squatted down to equalize his height with Steve, who was sitting on the ground with his bandaged legs straightened.
"Hey, why aren't you talking back to me?" Daniel asked with bulging eyes. Steve didn't move. He kept his mouth shut.
Daniel, who felt neglected, stood up again and immediately walked away from Steve. Steve sighed as Daniel walked away from him. He went back to his work, not caring about the weather that was getting hotter, even though it was already autumn.
While returning to work, his hand accidentally nudged something. Steve raked the grass in front of him and found a gold-colored iron box that looked rusty. Out of curiosity, Steve intended to open the box.
However, before he could see the contents, his ears suddenly heard a voice from behind him. The voice was heavy and hoarse.
"What are you doing?"
Steve turned around to see who was asking him. His eyes rounded when he realized it was the person who had interrupted him.
"You...."
Chapter 8: Quest Missions (2)At the moment, Ben was tidying up the archives in the Griffin family warehouse. His eyes meticulously organized each pile as he searched for additional information that might be useful in finding the missing heir of Rosemary’s family. However, he found nothing in the stacks. Ben let out a rough sigh, then looked at the mobile phone he had placed in front of the cup instead of the tripod. The screen of his mobile phone contained CCTV of the Griffin house area, from the back garden where the gold box they were currently looking for was located to the main room where the Griffin family met.Unintentionally, his beady eyes covered by black softlens saw that Steve had found a faded gold-colored iron box. In a hurry, Ben immediately grabbed his mobile phone and ran in the direction where Steve was currently. While in the middle of the road, his hand was suddenly caught by something. Ben glanced at Terry, who was currently staring at him with a strange look.“Wh
Chapter 9: The Facts (1)"You want to know?" Terry asked with a meaningful smile printed on his handsome face. Steve nodded his head quickly."Sure." Said Steve in an excited tone, forgetting his annoyance at Ben for not answering his question. "I'm really curious how you got it. So can you tell me?""I'll tell you when we're in a safe place. So-""Why not here?" Asked Steve, interrupting Terry's words. The dark, purple-haired man did not allow Terry to finish his sentence. "Isn't telling there or here the same?"Ben, who was lying down, was disturbed by Steve's words. The man immediately got up and sat up while doing a small stretch. He shook his head when he saw Steve's attitude, which was at least too innocent in this matter. Was the man really unable to read the current situation? Or did he really want to thwart everything they had done so far? That was the fleeting thought in his head at the moment.Terry sighed patiently. He tried to explain to Steve with his hands clenched into
Chapter 10: The Fact's (2)Once at Terry and Ben's place, Steve didn't open his mouth at all. He sat pensively on the sofa with empty eyes.Terry and Ben looked at each other. Both of them felt worried after Steve read the writing on the folder inside the Griffin family's gold box."Steve, are you okay?" Ben asked while patting the man's shoulder. However, Steve gave no response. The man remained silent as he hugged the folder he was reading."Terry, how is this? Why is he like this?"Terry let out a long sigh as he took out a cigarette from his box. He immediately lit the tobacco-based object and took a slow drag. "I think the contents of that folder are more dangerous than we thought, Ben.""What do you mean?" asked Ben with an uncomprehending look. He looked at his younger brother, who was watching Steve expressionlessly, so flat and rigid like a robot."If he doesn't answer us, there are several possibilities," Terry replied with a furrowed brow. He quickly extinguished the remain
Chapter 11 : CodeBen glanced at Terry with perfectly rounded eyes, as if they were about to pop out of place. Taking Steve to Rosemary's? Has Terry lost his mind? After Terry said that, it was silent for a while. None of the three made a sound. Only the sound of the second hand of the clock was the current source of sound. The three adult men glanced at each other. Only the sound of heavy breathing could be heard in the ears, so soft and faint. Both Terry, Ben and Steve were lost in their own thoughts. This silence felt strange to Ben. He was not used to being in silence even if he liked it. This silence was too awkward for him. So, Ben cleared his throat quietly to break the trapped silence between the three of them.It worked. Steve and Terry turned to him with questioning looks. "Why are you clearing your throat like that?"Ben gave no response to Steve's question. His Heterochromia eyes now chose to focus on Terry who was currently staring blankly at Steve, not knowing what to th
Chapter 12 : Reaction (1)"Terry, what does the code written on my necklace mean? Why does your face look so pale?" asked Steve, following Ben's question, in an urgent tone.Terry shook his head. He laughed awkwardly at Steve and Ben while scratching the back of his head, which didn't itch. The laugh sounded so strange to hear, as if it were forced to cover up something."Hahaha, forget what I said before. I was just talking out of my ass." Terry argued and returned the necklace in his hand to Steve's hand. Both Ben and Steve certainly didn't believe what Terry said. Both of them knew that Terry was lying. The uncomfortable body movement with eyes that didn't want to look at the other person was more than enough proof. Ben narrowed his eyes, trying to intimidate his younger brother."Terry, stop lying and tell us both the truth." Ben snapped at Terry until the man's laughter stopped. "Tell the truth, Terry. What's with the necklace code Steve has? What's with the number 0512?" Ben
Chapter 13 : InterrogationSteve seemed to be considering the offer from Icarus. He was eager to refuse because he was afraid of the risks that would occur later. Moreover, Steve did not know Icarus before. Steve was afraid that Icarus would do something dangerous to him, like the scenes on television that Minji often watched. However, if he stopped here, it would be like Steve giving up and making the plan that had worked so far fall apart. In fact, Terry's plan was about to hit a bright spot. This certainly made Steve feel a dilemma. Because the two choices in front of him had a considerable risk."Sir, so are you going to agree to my offer or not?"Icarus' voice came back to his ears, bringing Steve back to reality. He turned to Icarus with a small blink. After taking a deep breath, Steve finally made a big decision that would determine his future."Okay. I'll come with you."Steve could see the big smile on Icarus' face, as if he was satisfied that he had gotten what he wanted. Th
Chapter 14 : Interrogation (2)"Sir, we have something you requested." The blond-haired man with brown eyes took his eyes off the document he was reading. His eyes spotted two people standing in the doorway. The man seemed to squint his eyes as he felt his vision was unclear. The objects in front of him seemed so blurry and vague. He rubbed his eyes with his hands and refocused his gaze on the people who came into his room."Ah, are you Terry and Ben?""Yes, sir,""Then come in."Ben and Terry entered the light blue room. After entering, Terry did not forget to close the door so that no one could eavesdrop on their confidential conversation."Sit down." The blond-haired man ordered in a stern tone of voice. His eyes looked tired, with dark circles clearly visible on his face, indicating that he lacked rest. The man's appearance looked disheveled, as if he hadn't changed his clothes since morning."I'm sorry, I didn't recognize you before because my vision is not clear.""It's alri
Chapter 15 : Misunderstanding Steve did not accept being called a traitor by the blond man in front of him. His pride was bruised. His ego was hurt. And the anger was now mounting in his head, ready to explode at any moment.Steve got up from his seat, then immediately walked towards Barbara, who was currently staring at him with a challenging gaze, as if inviting him to a duel.Steve's steps were slow as his sprained leg was still painful to move. The man even had to drag his foot just to face Barbara.Once in front of the man, Steve raised his face with a glare. His lips were folded, and his breath caught in his throat. His face was flushed with anger. In addition, Steve clenched his hands into fists until his knuckles looked white."What do you mean by saying I'm a traitor?" asked Steve in an icy tone, forgetting the fact that Barbara was much older than him.Barbara pulled the corners of his lips up, forming a sardonic smile that looked condescending to his interlocutor. Barbara
