Chapter 7: Quest Mission (1)

"Of course you have to use the various objects that are there. Is there something wrong?"

Steve glanced at Ben and the boxes on the floor in turn. He swallowed forcefully. Steve's hands lifted the items one by one and put them away on the sofa.

"You think I want to use these things?" asked Steve while pointing at the objects that he thought were too strange to use.

How could they not? In the box Samantha brought, there were shoes that were much shabbier than the ones she was wearing, a shirt that was torn in several places, a pair of short jeans that had a torn in the thigh, and large sunglasses that looked ancient. But what Steve couldn't get enough of were the false teeth.

The problem is that the dentures look so bad, and with the arrangement of the teeth that look untidy, some even come forward. If Steve used these, he made sure he looked ridiculous, as if he had buck teeth.

"This thing is much worse than I thought," Steve commented.

"It's perfect for your disguise, so you don't get caught by the Griffins," Ben said tiredly.

"So, what kind of disguise do you want?"

"At least a better one than this," Steve said in a low tone. "I'm embarrassed to have to use this stuff. It makes me look like a bum."

Terry, who heard Steve's excuse, immediately grabbed Steve's shabby shirt. His eyes bulged as his jaw tightened.

The grip was so strong that it made it difficult for Steve to breathe. Even though his body was bigger than Terry's. But the man's strength was no match for him.

"Don't complain so much and just use what I've painstakingly prepared for this disguise, Steve," Terry said in a low tone. He suppressed every word that came out of his mouth. A dominant and authoritarian aura came out of his body.

"Do I know how much of a headache it was for me to plan so that you wouldn't get caught when we infiltrated later?!"

Ben immediately patted his brother's back gently to stop this argument. He didn't want Terry to hurt Steve just because of a momentary emotion.

"Let him go, Terry," Ben pleaded, trying to calm Terry down by rubbing the man's back. "Don't let your emotions control you. He's our colleague who will help us out of this job."

As if regaining his sanity, Terry released his grip on Steve's shirt. The man rubbed his face roughly. His eyes turned the other way, reluctant to meet Steve's gaze.

"I'm sorry, I didn't get enough sleep to get emotional," he said apologetically.

"It's okay. Don't do it again, Terry." Steve turned his face in another direction, precisely towards the object he had taken out of the box for his disguise.

"Never mind that," Ben intervened, so they wouldn't blame each other.

"Come on, put on that disguise so we can infiltrate the Griffin residence immediately. It's almost time," Ben reminded him as he tapped the watch on his wrist.

Steve nodded, picked up all the items on the table, and hobbled to the bathroom. Terry, who saw that, felt heartbroken. Therefore, he said.

"Do you want me to help you walk to the bathroom?"

"No need. I can do it myself," Steve said quietly, and he resumed his walk. He went into the bathroom and used the object Terry had prepared to complete his disguise.

After waiting for less than ten minutes, Ben, Terry, and Steve drove to the Griffin residence in a car that looked quite old. Steve knew that this was a car that belonged to one of the Griffin families for the workers who worked at their residence.

"So, how's the plan going?" asked Steve as he looked at the siblings, who were also wearing their disguises.

Terry had dragon-shaped patch tattoos on his left hand and neck, while Ben himself was wearing black contact lenses to keep his heterochromia eyes out of sight.

"We will be working in the back garden near the fountain, as you said before," Terry said, opening his voice and taking out the small notebook in his pocket.

"You'll be working to clear the weeds in the approximate places we've marked. So, you won't be moving too much, and your leg can heal quickly," Terry added, giving instructions to Steve.

"If I work on clearing weeds, what will you guys work on?" I asked Steve in a confused tone.

"I'll be working at the back to organize the archives while giving instructions to you through these earphones." Ben handed over a special earphone that he had modified like a walkie-talkie to communicate with his two colleagues.

"Meanwhile, Terry himself will be working as a porter near you," Ben added.

"Why does Terry get that part?" asked Steve in surprise. He felt that this division of labor seemed unfair and burdensome to the man he had been arguing with.

"So that he can work out," said Ben, looking at his brother with a flat look, which Terry returned with an indifferent stare. "He's a gym freak and wants to enlarge his arms. So don't be surprised if he gets some pretty rough and tough jobs."

"But won't we get caught working there? I mean-"

"No!" Terry immediately interrupted Steve's words with a firm tone before the man could finish his sentence. His pointed eyes were staring at the mobile phone screen while writing something on the notepad he was holding.

"I've calculated everything. After all, we are undercover." Terry hung up his sentence and looked at Steve with an intense gaze.

"Ben and I have been there many times, and the Griffins already know that we are just "part-time workers." Also, don't do anything flashy so this job can go perfectly."

"Okay, I got it."

The three of them arrived at the Griffin residence. There was a strange feeling stirring in Steve at having to return to that place, the place where he was humiliated and embarrassed last night by Daniel and his ex-wife, Minji.

Terry went straight to the back with Steve. He draped Steve's arm over his shoulder and helped the man walk in order to get on with the mission.

Meanwhile, Ben was seen having a conversation with David Griffin, who is the head of the family and Steve's ex-in-law.

Terry started helping Steve to squat down after providing him with gardening tools to trim all the weeds that were thriving in the back garden. He brought his body close to Steve's ear.

"Do your job quickly. After this task is completed, you may be able to earn a million dollars if the accuracy rate of the information you have is 100 percent."

"I understand. Leave it to me."

Terry gave a small nod and left Steve to start their work while looking for where the gold box was.

Steve started to use the grass clippers to trim the weeds around him. He did his work quickly because he was used to doing this.

His eyes carefully watched every corner to see the situation while looking for the Griffin family's gold box.

While focusing on his work, Steve could see a pair of shoes in front of him. Spontaneously, he looked up to see whose feet it was. As it turned out, it was Daniel, his ex brother-in-law.

Steve felt his chest beating fast, with sweat flooding his body. Emotion overcame him again. However, Steve tried to control himself so that Terry's plan would not be ruined by his actions.

"Oh, so you're the new employee of the Griffin family?" Daniel looked Steve up and down sarcastically. "Your face is so ugly. You should wear a mask so as not to spoil the view of my eyes." Daniel commented scathingly.

Steve clenched his hands into fists to contain his anger. He didn't say anything for fear that Daniel would recognize his words.

Seeing Steve, who was in disguise mode, not respond to his words made Daniel annoyed. The man immediately squatted down to equalize his height with Steve, who was sitting on the ground with his bandaged legs straightened.

"Hey, why aren't you talking back to me?" Daniel asked with bulging eyes. Steve didn't move. He kept his mouth shut.

Daniel, who felt neglected, stood up again and immediately walked away from Steve. Steve sighed as Daniel walked away from him. He went back to his work, not caring about the weather that was getting hotter, even though it was already autumn.

While returning to work, his hand accidentally nudged something. Steve raked the grass in front of him and found a gold-colored iron box that looked rusty. Out of curiosity, Steve intended to open the box.

However, before he could see the contents, his ears suddenly heard a voice from behind him. The voice was heavy and hoarse.

"What are you doing?"

Steve turned around to see who was asking him. His eyes rounded when he realized it was the person who had interrupted him.

"You...."
