Chapter Fifty-Six

“If you love your car, then I advise you to protect it. '' She flapped her eyelashes like a butterfly, wagging her finger at Aidan.

Aidan signaled to Cole to stay back with the car as they followed Ms. Rosaline into the next room which turned out to be the entire house space. It housed the kitchen, the bedroom, and a little space where she placed the TV stand, with a broken-down TV on top of it. At the corner of it stood a radio set that was playing some low-tune oldies.

The room smelled of tomato soup which was cooking right on the stove. Ms. Rosaline walked over to take it off and for the first time, Aidan noticed she had a limp on her left leg. His curiosity dazed him.

“Your limp, what happened…?” He hung back as he scrunched his brows slightly, pondering on whether it was in his place to ask her or not, so he wouldn't cross boundaries.

“I'm sorry if I'm intruding on your personal…”

“Madam Doris happened” She turned the stove off and grabbed a kitchen towel to bring it down.
