Chapter 14

Andie was still in her luxurious home. His cell phone had been ringing for a few minutes. He deliberately ignored the call. His head was spinning from a report from his assistant that one of their most significant business clients had suddenly canceled a joint project.

"Didn't you hear Doni wrong?" Andie asked.

"Yes, sir, yesterday, while you were meeting with the company's top brass, who will be our potential investor, Mr. Jose came to see me and told me about the cancellation. I explained that he should talk to you directly, but Mr. Jose refused because there was no time for a meeting and because he was about to fly straight to America," explained Doni carefully.

"Damn it! It's a big project that I've been looking forward to!" Andi said irritably.

Doni just stood there with his head bowed. He didn't dare to say much, fearing that Andie would get even angrier. Meanwhile, Andie paced back and forth in front of his desk, looking upset at the thought of billions of dollars failing to enter his account. He had already made big plans. The profits from the business partnership with Mr. Jose's company would be transferred to her account and used to start the construction of her resort.

"I will try to meet him after he returns from America. He can't escape!" Andie clenched his fists in ambition.

Doni's cell phone rang. He looked nervous and didn't dare to answer the call because Andie usually didn't like to be interrupted by a phone call during a serious conversation.

"Who's calling you?!" he asked in a loud voice.

"Excuse me for a moment, sir," Doni took the phone out of his pocket hesitantly. He glanced at Andi's desk, where he had also heard the sound of a cell phone.

Andi turned off his cell phone after seeing Clara's name appear on the screen.

"What a troublesome woman!" he grumbled, putting his cell phone into the drawer.

"Excuse me, sir, this is a call from Peter," Doni said, asking permission to answer.

"Ask what's wrong," Andie ordered.

"Okay," Doni replied.

Doni answered the call briefly by taking a few steps away. At the same time, Andie sat in his chair and smoked a cigar.

"Excuse me, sir," Doni said carefully.

"What news from Peter?" asked Andie.

"Peter said there was a police officer who wanted to meet with you to convey some things related to the continuation of the investigation into Ferdinand's death," explained Doni in a nervous voice.

"What?! Shouldn't that case be closed already?! What the hell!" Andie put out his cigar harshly.

They both ran out of Andie's private study. Down the stairs at a half run. Andie's feelings were torn between anxiety and curiosity.

"Please, sir, they're waiting up front," said Peter as Brandon pointed to the reception room where the two policemen were waiting.

"What have they talked to you about?" asked Andie.

"Nothing, sir, they just want to talk to you directly," replied Peter.

Andie let out a long sigh before stepping up to meet them.

"Good morning, Mr. Andie Johansson; please forgive us for disturbing your time by coming here." said one of the policemen.

"Morning, sir, no problem. It's just a coincidence that I'm still at home. Is there something important that you two have to see me this early?" asked Andie, trying to look friendly.

"It's about the accident that happened to Mr. Ferdinand; some time ago, Madame Camilla's lawyer contacted us and asked for the investigation into the case that killed Mr. Ferdinand to continue to be investigated thoroughly. And we found some new evidence."

"What evidence?!" Andie gasped in shock. He hurriedly took control of his feelings and tried to appear calm again. "I mean, has the exact cause of the accident been determined?" He asked.

"Yes. The field investigation found that Mr. Ferdinand's car had brake failure, and another was rear-ended. We are still looking for the identity of the man who was the car's driver." the police explained.

"Isn't this something we've both known since the beginning?" replied Andie.

"Yes, sir, but the most important thing I want to say is there are no findings of Mr. Ferdinand's body parts either in the car wreckage or around the scene. We didn't find that at all. So, the status of Mr. Ferdinand's death is still uncertain. And we are working to find further evidence."

Andie stayed in place with a stiff face. In his heart, he was furious at the news just now.

"Yes sir, do your best," said Andie.

"Well, then we take our leave. We came here because you represent the Johansson family appointed by Madame Camilla and Mr. Levin. Madame Camilla's lawyer also said to contact you directly if there is anything." said the policeman.

"Yes, thank you. I look forward to the best results from continuing your and your team's investigation." Andie replied.

Andie gave the code to his men to escort the two police officers out of the room. Peter and Brandon readily accepted the order. The two policemen were escorted to the gate.

While Doni remained in place with Andie, Andie's face was red with anger. This morning, he had received two pieces of bad news.

"So Aunt Camilla still expects her son, who has become ashes, to come back to life?!" he asked mockingly.

Doni didn't dare to answer. He was still the same as before, just bowing his head and keeping quiet.

"Do you think the police will be able to find Jason's identity?" Andie asked Doni.

"I'm sure they never will because Jason has done it neatly. The car and the identity he used belonged to someone else. And I don't think Ferdinand would have survived. It's been three months; if he were still alive, we would have found him." said Doni.

Andie tried to convince himself to believe his assistant's words.

"Alright, I'll go see Aunt Camilla. She never talked to me but suddenly appointed her lawyer," said Andie.
