Chapter 28

Lewis was instantly shocked. He immediately lowered his head, still looking up at his father. Those two round eyes stared at Claude's feet. His hands were shaking, and he almost couldn't support himself because his whole body was shaking.

Lewis recalled the words he had just said to Claude about how arrogant he was, saying that he would never apologize to Claude even if Claude would prostrate himself at his feet. And now the tables were turned. It wasn't Claude who sat down and knelt down. But Lewis was now dropping tears to wet Claude's feet.

"You should have used your wits. You don't even know who you're dealing with." The words came from his father's lips.

The word regret seemed to be unspeakable. Of course, Lewis had heard about the great and powerful man who owned most of the harbor. Lewis heard it in his father's study. He also knew that his father had become a great man because there was a great man behind him.
