Today was James' first day as a staff member at Eclipse. He was already dressed in a white shirt and black trousers, without a suit.
The guards began carrying James' stuff to Ruth's lakeside home as the move was underway. Alexander didn't know James was moving, as he had left for his office in the morning for an important meeting.
"Are you leaving?" James asked.
Ruth asked because she saw her son walking across the living room dressed up. James stopped his walk, heading towards his mother, who remained in the room, appearing to be waiting for someone.
"I'm going to work," James replied.
The old woman smiled broadly, stood up, and moved closer to James. Her wrinkled hands rubbed James' shoulders and neatened his shirt.
"Your job is pretty dangerous. So, be careful," Ruth pleaded.
James smiled, taking Ruth's hand gently. From that touch, he could sense that Ruth's love for him was much bigger than Alexander's.
