Climbing the stairs to her room on the third floor, Harper occasionally cast her gaze downward, where Marc looked back at her, smiling and nodding.

"I must be going crazy!"

Harper whispered weakly, barely audible.

"How could I even think about flirting with him? And while fully conscious, too!"

When she had stepped out of the pool and entered the living room earlier, she saw Marc still on his phone call. She shouldn't have thought much about it, right?

And yet, instead of heading straight to the third floor, a strange and baseless concern suddenly crossed her mind.

"What if he's calling his girlfriend?" The voice in her head was loud, making her stop in her tracks and glance at Marc for a moment. "Are you really going to let this man slip away from you?"

Harper wasn't sure if she could still think clearly. The next thing she knew, she saw herself walking toward Marc, deliberately trying to interrupt him.

She could feel it—her heart refused to let Marc talk to whoever was on the other

Meanwhile, in the living room on the first floor.Marc hadn't expected Harper to suddenly run behind him, eavesdropping on his conversation. However, that wasn't what truly surprised and worried him.Holding his phone in one hand, he gestured for the girl to get dressed immediately. After that, as if nothing had happened, he put on a smile while watching her head up to the third floor.Just moments ago, Marc had been staring at his phone screen for a long time when Leonie suddenly called him. And when the woman ended the call, Marc once again had to find a way to keep this secret from Harper.Yes, Marc had to keep his patient list a secret. Other than himself and Helma, no one else was allowed to see it."Thank goodness Harper didn't see it," Marc muttered. He then pulled his hand from behind his back and looked at the names on the patient list."The provincial capital? In two days?"The next patient on the list was an elderly man residing in the provincial capital of Walenstein. Acco

A night before. When Marc sneaked into the Winslow mansion, it took him only a few minutes to familiarize himself with every corner of the grand house. He was just about to execute his plan when, by chance, his ears caught a conversation between several women not far from him."Do you think Miss Winslow is lucky to be forming a family connection with Lord Everstone? It’s nothing like people imagine!"A woman in a yellow dress, holding a glass of wine, waved her free hand while shaking her head, looking pityingly at the young lady in question."Let’s say she is the most beautiful girl in Wyndham, or even all of Walenstein, but that’s not what that baron is after. In his eyes, there’s only money and power. After marrying his son to her, I’m sure that bastard will arrange for his son to marry another woman as a second wife, then a third, and so on. Truly pitiful, actually.""Hahaha! Such irony!" another woman in a purple dress, with a cigarette between her lips, chimed in."Honestly, if

Wearing an evening gown that draped elegantly over her shoulders, Harper descended the stairs with a shy expression. She still had a faint recollection of what she had done last night while drunk—shamelessly flirting with Marc like a desperate girl starving for affection. Thinking about it now, she bit her lip, feeling too embarrassed to even look the young man in the face. However, when her gaze landed on Marc, who was standing in the living room on the first floor, her embarrassment slowly faded, only to be replaced by a deepening blush.Down below, the young man looked back at her with a smile, forming a gesture with his thumb and index finger, silently praising her appearance. His casual demeanor made it seem as though he wasn’t thinking about what had happened the previous night at all.“You look absolutely stunning tonight,” Marc said, his smile widening as Harper stepped onto the first floor.“The same compliment applies to you. No one would ever guess that the handsome young m

"You'd better ask yourself that!"Unable to hold back her frustration any longer, the words slipped out of her mouth. After that, without feeling the need to explain or ask anything else, she quickened her pace toward the entrance of the auction house."What? Tell me, is this also a surprise? You didn’t even show up at your own party?"The look of shock and confusion on Nicholas' face was evident. He knew this girl very well. Not once had she ever shown him a sullen or cold expression, let alone treated him indifferently. The change was so sudden and completely unexpected. However, just like before, as if she hadn’t heard a word he said, the young woman kept walking."Honey, at least say something, please."Unwilling to give up, Nicholas kept chasing after Harper, pressing her for answers. "Please, don’t torture me with your silence."At this point, Nicholas realized this was no longer a surprise. Something was wrong, and he needed to fix it."I already told you, get lost! Don’t bothe

Auctionarium was an extremely strict venue. If you weren’t invited to their events, you had to make a reservation at least a week in advance. And even then, it didn’t guarantee you entry. Not only the staff but also Harper, who stood beside Marc, didn’t understand why the young man had chosen to present his identification card instead. Shouldn’t he be showing the invitation envelope I gave him? she wondered.Even so, the young woman remained silent. She chose to trust Marc completely."Ah, my apologies. I meant this," Marc feigned realization of his mistake, pulling back his ID card and handing over the Winslow family’s invitation envelope instead.Only then did the staff member’s wide smile return."Ah, a representative from the Winslow family! My apologies. Ma’am, Sir, your seats are in the front row."The staff member lifted the barrier and gestured for the two of them to enter the rightmost lane, the most exclusive among the three."Thank you."Nodding, Marc resumed walking, Harpe

However, when the cloth covering the tray was fully removed, the people who had been watching intently immediately frowned in confusion."Isn't that just a ring box? What's so special about it?"As if he could read the audience's surprise, the MC continued."You are correct in thinking that this is a ring box. However, the ring inside is no ordinary one. This is the Golden Nirvana, a rare ring that serves as a treasured relic of the White Lotus Monastery, the oldest monastery in Walenstein. His Lordship received it as an honorary gift from the abbot of the monastery."The guests nodded in understanding upon hearing this explanation, as if recognizing its value. Even so, they were not entirely convinced that the ring was truly exceptional. Yet, they chose not to dwell on it too much."Well, maybe it's valuable because it was given by a monk, right?" Other than that, there didn't seem to be anything particularly noteworthy about it.To an ordinary person, this ring might not appear spec

Alistair, upon witnessing the situation, curled his lips in satisfaction and pride."You’re just a bunch of fools who know nothing," he sneered internally. "How could you possibly grasp the grandeur of this box?"He was elated because he had successfully flaunted himself as someone who had auctioned an item at the highest price in Wyndham’s history—one of the highest even in Walenstein. Moreover, he was pleased because everything was going according to plan."No one will be able to bid for this ring, right? I’d like to see who in this city has the money to place an offer! Hahaha!"Of course, his assumption did not account for Harper, who had been glaring at him with anger and disgust without his notice."Marc, no matter what, I will get the Golden Nirvana," Harper declared. With determination blazing in her eyes, the young woman was resolved to make amends for her past mistakes by doing whatever it took to return the item to its rightful place. "I want us to take it back to the monaste

As if unwilling to back down, the fat man raised his hand once more and spoke in a loud yet composed voice. His expression remained cold, as if the amount he just bid was nothing significant to him."Unbelievable! What is happening?"Everyone present in the auction hall nearly stood up from their seats. What they were witnessing was simply too surreal to grasp as reality."This man is bidding such an outrageous amount and still looks completely unfazed? I can’t believe it!"No one was whispering anymore. Unable to contain their shock and amazement, people began openly voicing their opinions about the current state of the auction—especially about the mysterious bidder. At the same time, the same expression of disbelief was clearly visible on Harper’s face."Did I hear that right?" she murmured. "He can still raise the bid even higher?"The young woman’s face tensed, and an uneasy feeling crept into her heart. Not only did it seem like the fat man at the far end of the room truly desire

She was satisfied—ecstatic, even—that she'd landed a blow to his face in return. She knew Marvel well. He took great pride in his looks. Damaging any part of his body, especially his face, felt like a personal victory. One worth celebrating."Now look at you! Just another ugly bastard no one would even glance at! Hahaha! Leah staggered back several steps as Marvel’s punch landed squarely on her rib.She still managed to keep her grip on both daggers, but her chest was tightening, the blow clearly affecting her.“What? That’s it? That’s all you've got?” Marvel scoffed. “Still stuck at Level 12? You must’ve been slacking off like crazy.”His voice was laced with mockery, and the smirk on his face made it worse. They used to be cultivators of the same level. But two years ago, right after their relationship ended, Marvel had gone into seclusion to focus on his cultivation. When he returned to Duskmoor two months ago, no one knew how far he’d advanced. Still, plenty speculated that his current power had to be at least Level 15.“Shut your damn mouth, asshole! I’ll kill you!” Leah shouted, forcing herself to stand tall. But the fire in her eyes wasn’t as bright as before. Deep down, she hadn’t expected Marvel’s cultivation to leap this far.“Kill me? “Why did you do that?”The sniper's face—crushed beneath Marvel’s boot—was now an unrecognizable mess. But instead of looking pleased, the gangster boss stared at the young woman with a cold, piercing glare. Leah’s actions hadn’t satisfied him—they’d only raised questions.“Tell me why you shot him.”“Oh, come on. What are you even talking about?”Leah, the woman who had just appeared and gunned down the sniper without hesitation, shrugged casually. Her expression was calm, almost bored.“Why would I need your permission to kill someone who was getting in our way? Obviously, I had to take him out.”“Really?
