Chapter four

"But Mary, you can't just let this poor asshole harass us this way, he wouldn't ever have respect for us and you in particular no matter who you later become!" Vivian emphasized.

She kept insisting that her daughter do something. "It's not a small position, being a managing director!"

With time, Mary's anger was fuming. It increased as her mother was talking more to her. "Mom, you don't need to worry, I'll handle this. Take him(Cynthia’s boyfriend) to the nearest clinic, then the physiotherapist will take care of his condition."

She could always find a way to deal with him without Lisa’s knowledge.

Vivian was now happy, she could now go away with her second daughter. While they went away, she picked up her phone to call Peter, her ex-husband. This call hit Peter while he was inside the car with Lisa.

Lisa was such a free person, she gestured to him to pick the call with a smile. He was surprised by this gesture. He tapped on the accept button.

"Hello, why are you calling me now?" His voice was stern and filled with disgust.

"Heyy, listen to me. If you want good and not trouble, you call my mom now, ask for her location and go there right now and kneel and apologize to them."

He laughed at the kneel. "And if I don't, what will happen?" He didn't waste time to reply.

"Gosh! You're proving stubborn?"

"Well, I think you're just kidding!" He chuckled with a great sarcastic tone. "You weren't like this, Mary. Who changed you?"

"Because I've changed," she curtly said.

"Sorry to say so, I've likely changed too."

Mary gasped at Peter's boldness.

Shock and irritation took over Mary as the person she was talking to wasn't even bothered at all.

"Next time filter out some statements from your mouth before you spit them out, I'm not the kind of man you use to treat so badly!" Peter knew this would really hurt his ex-wife, he repeated one of her statements in a proud way, then ended the call.

He knew he had nothing to lose anymore, so he could tell her anything he wanted to.

"What the hell! Peter has the audacity to end my call! Has he forgotten who I am?"

"I'll surely teach him a lesson!" She dropped her phone into her bag, then walked up her car murmuring with anger to herself.

When the call was done, Lisa began to speak to him.

"Was that your ex-wife?" She asked with a grin. Peter was glad she couldn't get to hear all the shit Mary said to him.

"Yes, madam!"

"Call me Lisa!" Peter was surprised but he had no option other than to comply.

"Yes, she once told me you are excellent at curing rear illnesses."

"Who?" He got shocked.

"Your wife," Lisa jerked her head to the left. "But that was almost three months ago, she spoke so nicely of you, I wonder why she would have to treat you this way now!"

Peter's jaw dropped. He couldn't believe his wife who despised him would recommend him someone like Lisa. He thought she hated him all round.

The truth was now getting unveiled by Peter as of how Lisa got to know of him. It turned out to be that the location she stated on the call, the Smith’s Clinic which was the best in the country. It had the VIP departments and was mostly attended by members of the elite class.

It was still one of the businesses her family owned.

"My brother is waiting for us at the hospital," she heaved, probably she wanted to say something which hurt her so much. Peter was wondering what was going on, who he's going to be treating. His heart was occupied by so much thoughts at the moment.

She gestured to him to get into the car.

She drove him to the hospital, then took him to the special ward. It was VIP. Meanwhile she hadn't told him what was wrong.

Opening the door, he saw Mr. Thompson lying in a critical state. He almost stepped backward, he was shocked to realize he would be treating Mr. Thompson of all people, then he was curious to know what's wrong with him, even before he got to examine him.

Mr. Thompson was Lisa’s father and the current CEO of the Thompson’s business group, the business group that owned almost half the country.

"Here's my younger brother, Joel." Lisa introduced him to him.

This was his first time dealing directly with members of such family. Joel descended his eyes on him, scanning him with disgust from head to toe. Joel hated him at first sight.

"Oh, he looks like this in real life?" He questioned, his face showed he didn't believe in his capabilities. "Well, just give me a handshake. I thought he was an outstanding medical expert. Are you sure such a person like him deserves to lay hands on my father?"

"Hmm," Peter sighed silently so that he could not be heard. He was secretly pissed by this. "Well, I might excuse you, your highness, if you don't believe in my capabilities."

He knew what Joel was expecting, lots of explanations and telling of his achievement to make him believe but he wasn't ready for all these.

"My father has a tumor at the back of his head, which keeps increasing everyday. Don't listen to him but treat My father. He judges by appearance, I've warned him several times!" Lisa gave him a pleading gaze which made him decide to set to work.

The doctors said the tumor was too close to sensitive parts of his brain and they could not operate him.

"I'll try my best!" As he responded, he was also promising himself this.
