Both Anthony and Grey paused to look up 'cause coming from a floor above them was male and female laughter, both sounding like they were around Anthony's age.
There were also some crashing sounds like they were bumping into things. They must be drunk.
"What was that?!" Anthony pondered, but seconds later looked like he recognized the voices which he rolled his eyes at.
"Anyway, what were you saying Grandfather?" Anthony lowered his head to face Grey, but was met by a shocked expression on the man's face.
"Grandfather, you okay?" he placed one hand on Grey's shoulder who looks like a robot.
"Yes, I'm okay. I don't know what came over me there" Grey went back to acting normal but still smiling anxiously as he pulled away from Anthony. He recovered the distance that used to exist between them.
"Alright? So what was it you wanted to tell me before the interruption?" Anthony inquired, now intrigued with what Grey was saying earlier, however…
"Oh, don't worry about it, my boy, I was just rambling. I think the thought of having a party just for me spooked me. It's not every day you clock a new age you know" Grey laughed nervously, trying to push the topic away as sweat ran down the side of his head.
Anthony thought of how weird Grey was acting but didn't feel like pressing the issue so he let it go. He reasoned that if Grey had anything to say to him then he would but until then he will patiently wait.
"Since we're done here, we should start heading back to the party, grandfather. I want to see Annabelle" Anthony suggested, pointing in the direction of the party, but...
"Why don't you go first, I'll be right behind you" Grey declined.
"Okay?" Anthony shrugged, still skeptical about Grey but still he left him to start returning to the party.
*VIBRATE*
Once at the middle of the stairs, Anthony felt his phone vibrate in his trouser pocket. He just received a message and he immediately brought it out to check what it says.
Reading the words made his heart to skip a beat.
He mumbled "I can't believe it's already the fifth anniversary of when I left my past life behind. I pray the Maples never find out about the madness of my past" he squeezed the phone in his hand and then continued to leave.
Meanwhile, Grey looked scared, watching Anthony walk away until he was the only one standing by the staircase. He was breathing heavily with the veins in his eyes and neck throbbing.
The first thing Anthony did once he returned was to get something to eat so he went to the buffet. It was all-you-can-eat so with the small plate he got from the table, he went straight for the shrimp and sauce.
He had only eaten six out of his ten-piece shrimp dish when he turned around to face the rest of the party and saw something very alarming.
He saw his wife Annabelle standing next to Patience Maple and her older granddaughter Candice Penn, and Patience was introducing Annabelle to some man he didn't know, a man named Benjamin Oswald.
Shocked, and feeling betrayed he dropped the plate, and in the process the sauce stained both of his hands but he didn't care. He walked straight for them, wanting to get to the bottom of this.
"Benjamin, I would like to introduce you to my beautiful granddaughter and the youngest amongst all of my grandchildren, Annabelle Maple" Immediately the introduction was made, Benjamin's heart skipped a beat. He was utterly mesmerized by her beauty.
Annabelle was a pale-skinned, petite, and elegant young lady with long curly cherry blonde hair and emerald green eyes. She looks very innocent.
"Annabelle, this is Benjamin Oswald, a promising young man, the second son of the sixth family in the hierarchy and I hope the two of you can form a wonderful relationship together" Patience smiled.
After the quick introduction, Benjamin extended his hand for a handshake. However, Annabelle jittered which made him to pause.
This gave Annabelle the time she needed to accept him before also connecting hands and he smiled.
Sadly, Annabelle was also quick to pull her hand free once she felt like it had been long enough, upsetting Benjamin and making him feel rejected.
"So, what do you say Benjamin?" Patience asked with a tone implying that she was guiding the topic into something less innocent
"What do I say about what, Ma?" Benjamin asked with bewildered eyebrows.
"I'll cut straight to the chase, what do you say about the two of you getting married?" Patience smirked.
"What?! Grandmother?!" Annabelle who comes off as shy spoke out but with a stern look from Patience she quickly backed down.
At first, Benjamin couldn't help but laugh at the idea, but once he had done that he couldn't stop himself from taking yet another look at Annabelle. He was already mesmerized by her beauty, so after a second thought, he wasn't as opposed to the idea of marrying her as when it was first proposed.
"Hmm? What's this?!" he finally noticed the ring resting peacefully on Annabelle's finger and frowned "You're already married?!"
"Ye—" Before Annabelle could finish her answer Patience interrupted yet again, looking furious.
Patience pulled herself closer to Annabelle, whispering "What did I tell you about wearing that rubbish thing on your finger in public?! In fact, what did I tell you about wearing it, period?! I would have punished you right now if we weren't celebrating, so I'll let it slide, this time. But be sure that there will be consequences!" She frowned.
After her threat, Patience pulled back, wearing a smile as she turned to Benjamin.
"Don't be bothered by that little inconvenience Benjamin, the ring doesn’t matter. Truthfully, a wicked man forced her into wearing it but I’m working on it" She said and Benjamin was eating everything up.
Annabelle lowered her head and held on to her own body, embarrassed and Benjamin who had already fallen for Patience's verbal trap thought that she was being regretful. Deep down he wanted to be the knight in shining armor that comes to save her, but…
"What's going on here?!" Anthony's voice suddenly snuck up on them, and immediately, the depressed demeanor that Annabelle had instantly lit up and now she seemed excited and relieved.
Patience and Candice quickly turned their heads to see Anthony stretching out his hand through where they stood, reaching for a handshake with Benjamin.
At the same time, his other hand slowly crossed over Annabelle's shoulder, pulling her into a half embrace. He was showing Benjamin that she was off limits.
"And what are you supposed to be?!" Benjamin asked condescendingly but also sounded aggressive because of how Anthony had his arm around Annabelle. How dare he hold her like that?
"Why don't you shake my hand and find out!" Anthony stared back and Benjamin who wanted to know who Anthony was to act this way shook his hand and was surprised by how rough and tough Anthony's hand was.
"My name's Anthony, Anthony Star and this is my wife you're talking to. I'll advise you not to get too comfortable talking to another man's woman, Mr?" Anthony scowled.
"So you're the man Grandmother was just telling me about. You really are a pig!" Benjamin stared coldly at Anthony. "I can't believe Grandmother cares enough to talk about me with someone else." Anthony said then gave Patience a smile, honestly trying to charm her but was only annoying her more. It's clear that none of them liked him and are only being cordial because other people were around, however, behind closed doors the story is completely different. There's no form of bad treatment he hasn't received from them but because he's thick skinned, he always shakes it off. One of the things Annabelle likes about him.Not saying anything back, Benjamin started trying to crush Anthony's hand in his while he smirked. However, doing that Benjamin noticed two things very unsettling. "My eyes are down here Pig! Is there something you find interesting floating above my head or are you just admiring my haircut? I assure you, sell your organs or not but you can't afford it!" Benjamin addres
"WHAT!?" Patience exclaimed. It was now she realized, looking past Julius to see Grey's unconscious body, dead? She ran to her husband straight away, dropped to her knees, and held on to his unconscious body, screaming in tears. The others followed behind her. Anthony and Annabelle were the last two to join them."What's going on here?" With his heart pumping fast and eyes skating all over the place, Anthony asked himself, confused by what he was looking at. He never knew he could see such faces on the Maples. Suddenly, three out of the remaining members of the family walked in. There was Paul Penn, Candice, Julius and the twin's father, their mother Elizabeth Penn, and finally Genevieve Maple, Annabelle's mother. They were given the gist of what was happening and while Genevieve and Elizabeth both became very emotional and fell to their knees around their parents, Paul remained stoic, quietly observing what was going down while tightening the grip of his suitcase, suspiciously. O
"Watch where you're walking!" The Officer said while grinning maliciously, holding on to Anthony as they stood at the cell's entrance. Even though he had been the one who pushed his leg in front of Anthony's path so that he would trip over it, the officer still acted like he was trying to save Anthony from falling, to get close to him. "What are you doi—?!" Anthony aggressively asked the officer because he noticed that he wasn't trying to help him but was using his body's weight to prevent him from standing up, instead. "Listen here you piece of shit, do yourself a favor and LEAVE ANNABELLE ALONE! She deserves better than rubbish like you and I won't warn you again!" the officer whispered into Anthony's ear. Anthony scoffed at the Officer. He found this completely ridiculous and as a result all the anger he was trying to suppress earlier just up and vanish. He started laughing. "Why are you laughing you twat?! You think I'm joking?!" The Officer got angry and stepped back which al
"We're almost there sir," said the taxi driver, looking at Anthony in the back seat through the rearview mirror with curious eyes. "I couldn't believe it when you told me that the Maple mansion was your destination but I'm glad I didn't clock off early today" The driver had a huge grin on his face "So what job do you work here? Are you like one of the helpers or something? Maybe a bodyguard? So cool!" the driver smirked while Anthony remained silent. Just the assumptions being made by the driver were already insulting enough, but, Anthony didn't take it too much to heart. He accepted the fact that from how he looked, nobody in their right minds would straight up assumes he was a family member of the Maple's "My wife and I are in serious need of a job and extra cash so if it's possible, can you try putting a word for her when I drop you off? I'll like to get your number so that we can keep talking—" "You're mistaken, I don't work here. Never have and never will!" Anthony finally
Aside from Annabelle, Anthony could sense the hostility oozing from everyone else and all the alarms in his head were going off. What could they want? "Look at that, the dog has returned! Sadly, Officer Wilson and his partner will be taking you back to jail, a cage where animals like you truly belong!" Patience standing in front of the other family members spoke. "What are you talking about? You know what, I don't have time for thi—" Anthony was extremely tired so he waved Patience and the rest of the family goodbye, wanting to walk away when… "You're not going anywhere you scumbag! You remember this?" Officer Wilson stepped forward, blocking Anthony's path to his room and then he pushed something small and shiny towards him. "A woman's necklace? Of course I don't remember that, why should ?!" Looking annoyed Anthony answered. "This was found in your room and we all know you can't afford something this luxurious. The real owner is right here, Carla Maple!" Officer Wilson said, pro
Without needing to be asked, Anthony extended his hands with his wrists pressed together, expecting them to be cuffed. However, Officer Wilson who was walking over to him didn't even try to take out his handcuffs from around his belt buckle. "There won't be any arrests happening here today," Officer Wilson said, standing behind Anthony and helping him drop his hands. "Then what are you going to do Officer Wilson?" Julius asked "Well, I've come to understand that my Captain cares about this trash a lot, so if I was to make the arrest I'm certain that the Captain would find a way to get him released by tomorrow. I know none of you wants that, right?" "That sounds like a logical concern, so what's your idea, Officer Wilson?" Patience inquired. "This is up to you guys to agree with or not but I suggest that you all KICK him out of the mansion and force him to pay the amount the necklace is worth. That would also mean that I and my partner will be responsible for holding on to the ne
Disgraced and kicked out from the only home he's known since the day he married Annabelle, right now Anthony needed a place to spend the night but he didn't have any cash. His wallet was still in his room but he swore he wasn't going to step his foot back into the Maple mansion. The faces of his in-laws were the last thing he wanted to see right now. After a little thinking, there was only one place he could go, a men's homeless shelter and so he got on his motorcycle and drove there at full speed. The place was crowded and he could barely sleep because of the noise but he managed and in the morning, he went straight to THE BANK He needed money if he was to survive his exile and because he didn't have his debit card on him, he had to get a counter check and withdraw all the money he had saved. "Here are your five thousand dollars" the accountant passed him his money in a tidy envelope and he kept in his suit pocket, right beside his phone which had been blown up with messages from
Before coming to the casino, Anthony had first spent some time in a movie cinema, and towards the evening was when he arrived at the Jade Casino, walking over to one of the busy roulette tables. He had a sack in his hand that contained all of his betting chips. He had bought $5000 worth of chips which he’s used and lost and now he only had $500 left. There were already two very wealthy men, brothers, playing a game of roulette when he arrived at the table. They had a stick of the most expensive cigar sold within the casino in their mouths, and even the lighter they use was more expensive than everything he had on him. "Where do you think you're going, pig?!" One of the bodyguards of those two men blocked Anthony's path, stopping him from getting closer to the roulette table. "I'm just trying to place my bet after this round" Anthony said, trying to act cool so that this mountain of a bodyguard doesn't hurt him for no reason. The bodyguard took a good look at Anthony, from head to
Abraham rose from his chair and looked at Johnathan with shock."Master Johnathan, what do you mean by that?! Are you seriously giving up on all of this and want to return home?!" Abraham asked enthusiastically.Johnathan was left speechless as he looked at Abraham and was grimacing in confusion. He never knew Abraham would react this way to what he said and it was like he was happy to hear him give up on the mission.Abraham grinned "Even though we've already done this much, it's not too late to stop all of this and return home Master Johnathan," he said then dropped on his chair. He immediately opened his desk drawer and searched for some documents which he started arranging, hoping to start packing what they needed so that they could leave this place first thing in the morning.Johnathan cleared his throat when he had seen enough."What is it, Master Johnathan? Do you have a cough? Sore throat maybe? Don't worry, I'll be right there to check what's wrong but first lemme put these d
Johnathan looked at George and then at Abraham when he got close and he realized that he had forgotten a piece of vital information."Master Jo—" Abraham said but Johnathan quickly interrupted him."Not exactly. I forgot to tell you but this is Abraham, the person I called on the phone back at the bowling rink and he's the one sponsoring me so that I can attend Wellstone. I also call him my guardian like I told you" George looked at Johnathan skeptically then he looked at the luxurious apartment."So you're saying that none of this belongs to you but him?" George asked."Yes"George nodded his head and then started smiling."I thought so. No way a cool and nice guy like you comes from wealth. You almost gave me a heart attack there, not cool" George said.Abraham and the maids looked at George and they were all frowning that he could be talking to their master like this. He should show some respect.Seeing that they were going to lash out at George, Johnathan gave them a signal while
Johnathan stared at this student, wondering if he wanted to get involved with him or not. He's already helped him wake up so should he involve himself beyond this point? In the end, he came up with his answer."I'm nobody," Johnathan said then stood up and stuffed his hands into his hoodie pocket."As you can see the party is over so you should start going him. That's why I'm doing" Johnathan said. The student looked around and he was disappointed that he missed the party. A reaction that Johnathan found strange because he was more concerned about that than the fact Bradly had knocked him unconscious."Whoever you are, thanks for waking me up. I should also start heading—" The student said as he was standing up but then his stomach started hurting and he crashed back down. The student grabbed his stomach and started wincing from the pain."What's wrong?" Johnathan asked him, worried that something else might be wrong."I don't know, my stomach just hurts like hell. Was it something I d
"Hey Bradly, how come it seems like you know the Welfie on a personal level when none of us have ever seen him before?" One of the two students who came with Bradly asked.Immediately, a grin popped up on Bradly's face."What do you think worm, should I tell them?" Bradly whispered in Johnathan's ear and Johnathan jolted.Johnathan knew instantly what Bradly's plan was and what he was going to say to everyone and his heart started pounding fast."Listen, Bradly, don't say anything. Even though it was fake, we were still friends for—" Johnathan said but Bradly cut him off."Oh, you thought I was asking? For reminding me how I had to listen to your stupid complaints which made my brain melt all those time, watch this" Bradly said then stepped away from Johnathan and in the process, he brought out his phone and raised it in front of everyone.Bradly quickly went to the Bubble Tv platform, found a certain video, copied the link, and then sent it as a comment underneath the post on the scho
Back at the apartment, Abraham was seated in his office chair and was going through some documents when his phone on the desk suddenly started ringing.Seeing who the caller was, Abraham hurriedly answered the call.“Master Zebadiah, good evening or should I say good afternoon in your case,” Abraham said.[“Thank you Abraham and greetings to you too. I was just calling to ask how are you and Johnathan settling into the apartment? Hope everything is to his liking”] Zebadiah said.“Yes master, Master Johnathan gave his approval of the place a while ago. He told me that he’s happy to have somewhere like this close to his school to hang out during days he wants to get away from school stress”[“That’s good to hear. And Johnathan, where is he right now?”]“Well, master Johnathan told me that his level-mates were organizing a get-together somewhere close by so he went to go check it out. He wants to make as many acquaintances as possible before he starts school officially”Zebadiah grunted.
Johnathan was almost a whole foot taller than Zack was and because he wasn’t sitting and hunching anymore, his hoodie didn’t seem as big as it used to.Zack and his friends were starting to see that not only was Johnathan tall but he was also muscular and all three of him were speechless.“Hey Zack, don’t just stand there, teach that Welfie a lesson not to mess with people like us,” Someone from the crowd said.Even though he didn’t want to, Zack just had to show himself and there was only one way he could try to conquer Johnathan since he couldn’t attack him physically.“Listen here Welfie, as I said before, I’m Zack Griffin from the Griffin family and I’m sure you’ve heard of me. If you know what’s good for you, better let go of my hand right now or else you’ll receive a message from the school first thing tomorrow morning about your expulsion. Trust me, I can make that happen” Zack threatened then smirked.Johnathan shrugged “You can try but you’ll be surprised by the outcome,” he
The reason they were treating Johnathan this way was because they hadn't seen him anywhere around the school before and that only meant one thing. In Wellstone, the kids from the richest family are given their admission first and they are also given top priority in everything else so they are the first to start the academic session. The school would never admit that this preferential treatment exists but it does nonetheless and it is usually the students who enforce it with their actions. The later your resumption shows your level of importance in the school and with that mindset, even though the school is massive with thousands of students, everyone knows who the important people to look up to and respect are.For them not to know Johnathan only means that he either is just starting his academic session now or isn't that important for any of them to know. This makes him someone under scholarship or someone who's barely able to attend Wellstone.None of those two options are good posi
The more they walked, the closer and louder the music became and there was a door in front of them which had the bowling alley behind it.Johnathan could see colorful lights escaping from the cracks which let him know that it isn’t just bowling but there should also be a party happening in there.Whoever organized this must have paid a pretty penny to transform a regular bowling rink into a disco party but since they are students of Wellstone, the money should be considered a cheap change to them.Because of how close Johnathan was behind her, Shirley got annoyed and stopped walking."Why the hell are you following me?" She asked and Johnathan grimaced. He also stopped after hearing the ridiculousness of the accusation."Who said I'm following you?" He asked."You are so there's no use denying it," she said as a vein bulged on her forehead.Johnathan scoffed then he smacked his tongue."Listen here miss Vice President or whatever you call yourself—""It's Shirley, Shirley Price. I alr
Johnathan grimaced as he leaned closer, getting all up in her face."Oh really? You don't know her?" He asked and she avoided eye contact."If that's true then why don't I believe you? Something tells me that you do know her and you're lying to me to protect your friend" Johnathan said and Shirley got irritated."I told you I don't know anyone like that so get the hell out of my personal space!" Shirley got aggressive and pushed him away.Because of how tall and more muscular than her Johnathan was, her shove didn't really do much but he moved back on his own accord anyway."You said this entire place was reserved for the students of Wellstone, those were your own words, and that right there was where she robbed." Johnathan pointed at where he made contact with the girl with red and black hair."What other proof do I need to show that she was a fellow student of Wellstone and as the Vice President you know or at least have an idea of who she is" Johnathan pursed his lips."I said I do
