Third person POV

He floored it, driving as fast as he could, his heart racing with every passing second. The minutes ticked by like hours, each one feeling like an eternity. Finally, after what seemed like an interminable wait, he screeched to a halt in front of the nearest hospital.

Without hesitation, Marco leapt out of the car and gently lifted Jessica into his arms. He rushed towards the hospital entrance, shouting "Emergency!" at the top of his lungs.

Two nurses immediately emerged from the hospital, a stretcher at the ready. They quickly and carefully transferred Jessica onto the stretcher, before rapidly wheeling her away to a nearby ward.

Marco paced anxiously in the waiting area, his mind consumed by worry and fear. Some minutes later, the doctor emerged, a somber expression etched on his face.

"How's my wife?" Marco asked urgently, his voice trembling with emotion.

"The condition of your wife is a little bit critical," the doctor said, his expression serious and somber. "She will require immediate surgery. However, before we can proceed, we need you to sign a consent form." He paused, his eyes locked on Marco's, as if gauging his reaction.

Marco's face twisted with worry, but he quickly composed himself. "Where's the form?" he asked urgently, his voice laced with a sense of desperation.

The doctor nodded sympathetically. "Please, come to my office," he said, gesturing down the hallway. "We'll get the paperwork started right away."

They arrived at the doctor's office, a small, cluttered room filled with stacks of medical files and the faint scent of disinfectant. The doctor, pulled out a sheaf of papers from a drawer and handed them to Marco.

Marco scanned the documents quickly, his eyes racing over the pages as he searched for any information that might give him hope. The papers were filled with medical jargon and complex terminology, but Marco's eyes homed in on the key phrases, his mind racing with the implications.

Finally, satisfied that he had read everything, Marco quickly scribbled his signature on the bottom of the page, his hand shaking slightly as he handed the papers back to the doctor.

"When are you starting the surgery?" Marco asked, his voice tight with anxiety. "And what's the success rate?"

The doctor's expression was somber, but his eyes were kind. "We'll be starting the surgery in thirty minutes," he said. "As for the success rate...it's fifty-five percent."

Marco's heart sank at the doctor's words. Fifty-five percent was barely more than a coin toss. He felt a wave of fear wash over him, threatening to engulf him. What if Jessica didn't make it? What if he lost her?

He pushed the thoughts aside, focusing on the present moment. "What can I do to help?" he asked the doctor, his voice firm and resolute.

The doctor nodded, a small smile on his face. "Just be here for your wife," he said. "We'll do everything we can to save her."

Marco nodded, feeling a sense of determination wash over him.

As the doctor left to prepare for the surgery, Marco sat down in the waiting room, his eyes fixed on the door. He would wait here, patiently, until Jessica was out of surgery.

Marco pulled out his phone and scrolled through his contacts, his fingers moving swiftly as he searched for the number of the soldier who was guarding his daughter. He found it quickly and dialed, his eyes fixed on the screen as he waited for the soldier to answer.

The soldier picked up on the first ring, his voice crisp and alert. "General!" he barked, his tone respectful.

Marco's voice was low and urgent. "How's my daughter?" he asked, his heart pounding in his chest.

There was a brief pause before the soldier replied, "She's sleeping, General." Marco nodded his head, even though he knew the soldier couldn't see him. He felt a wave of relief wash over him, knowing that his daughter was safe and sound.

"Make sure she's fine and don't allow the guy in the torture room to escape," Marco said, his voice firm and commanding.

"Yes, General!" the soldier replied, his tone crisp and obedient.

Marco ended the call, his mind already focused on the next task at hand. But before he could even take a breath, his phone rang again. He checked the caller ID and his eyes narrowed as he saw Alex's name flash on the screen.

"General, Daniel has escaped!" Alex exclaimed, his voice panicked and urgent.

Marco's face darkened with anger. "What! How come?" he thundered, his voice echoing through the hospital waiting room. "Make sure you search everywhere for him, I need him dead or alive," he growled, his eyes blazing with determination.

"I want him found, Alex," Marco repeated, his voice firm and commanding. "I don't care what it takes, I want him brought to justice. Do you understand?"

"Yes, General," Alex replied, his voice steady and resolute. "I'll get the team on it right away. We'll leave no stone unturned."

An hour later, the doctor emerged from the operating room, his face a mask of calm professionalism. Marco, who had been pacing back and forth in the waiting room, quickly sprang to his feet, his eyes locking onto the doctor's. "Doctor, how's my wife?" he asked, his voice low and urgent, his words tumbling out in a rush.

The doctor's expression was guarded, but a small smile played on his lips. "The surgery was successful," he said, his voice measured and calm. "However, she's not awake yet. We'll need to monitor her closely from now until tomorrow morning to determine what's going on."

Marco's brow furrowed in concern. "You said the operation was successful," he pressed, his voice tinged with confusion. "How come she's not awake?" He took a step closer to the doctor, his eyes boring into his. "Is there something wrong? Something you're not telling me?"

The doctor held up a calming hand, his expression soothing. "No, no. There's nothing to be alarmed about. It's just that...well, your wife's injuries were quite extensive. We had to put her under a medically induced coma to help her body heal."

Marco's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with questions. "A coma? How long will she be out?"

The doctor hesitated, choosing his words carefully. "It's hard to say. We'll need to monitor her closely and adjust her treatment as needed. But I want to reassure you, that we're doing everything we can to help her recover."

Daniel burst through the door of his secret hideout, his guards springing into action as soon as they saw him. They rushed to his side, their faces etched with concern.

"What happened to you, Mr. President?" one of the guards asked, his voice laced with alarm.

Daniel's face twisted in a snarl. "Stop wasting my time with silly questions and get the nurse here to treat me, now!" he bellowed, his voice echoing off the walls.

"I apologize, sir," the guard said, his voice contrite, before quickly pulling out his phone to dial the nurse's number.

Daniel stormed into his room, slamming the door shut behind him. He collapsed onto the bed, his mind racing with thoughts of his family. He had no idea how he was going to explain to them that he had let Jessica escape. The shame and embarrassment were almost too much to bear.

With a heavy sigh, Daniel pulled out his phone and dialed a number. The person on the other end picked up on the first ring.

"Find Jessica for me," Daniel growled, his voice low and menacing. "I don't care what it takes, I want her found and brought back to me. Now."

Daniel ended the call and his phone rang out loud almost immediately. He checked the screen, his heart sinking as he saw his older brother's name flashing on the display. He knew he was in for a lecture, or worse, but he couldn't bring himself to ignore the call.

With a sense of trepidation, Daniel swiped his finger across the screen to answer the call, then lifted the phone to his ear. "Yes?" he said, his voice cautious.

"Daniel, what in the world were you thinking?" his brother thundered from the other end of the call. "How could you be so reckless, so stupid, as to let that girl escape? It was a simple task, and yet you managed to botch it. Do you have any idea what will happen to all of us if Pamela dies?" His brother's voice was apoplectic with rage, and Daniel could feel the anger and disdain radiating through the phone.

"I apologize, brother," Daniel said, his voice laced with contrition. "I've been doing everything in my power to find a suitable donor for Pamela, but so far, I've come up empty-handed. I promise you, I will leave no stone unturned in finding Jessica. She's our only hope now."

"You need to do everything in your power to find her," his brother's voice was firm and urgent. "And make sure you keep your phone off, it's likely they're tracking your movements." With that, the line went dead.

Daniel quickly powered off his phone, his mind racing with the implications. The root of their problem lay in their family's complicated dynamics. Their parents, in a move that had seemed wise at the time, had placed all of their properties and assets in their sister Pamela's name. But now, with Pamela's life hanging in the balance, Daniel and his brother were faced with the very real possibility of losing everything if she didn't survive.
