But Brian didn't immediately open the package. His attention was focused on the contents of his house. He looked over his belongings, considering which to throw away or not. There are not many things, sofas, shelves and everything else except a small TV are part of the rental house.
Brian went into his room, the contents were the same, he didn't bring much apart from books and clothes. He decided to clean it first, then take a shower, then think about other things like calculating how much he had to spend from the money he put into the account. His feelings were still mixed, between joy and fear. What if after the money is used, someone comes to take it. What he spends will be more.
Brian packed all his books and dirty clothes, put them in the moving boxes he had, only one box and one suitcase of clothes, the rest he would leave at home.
“Tomorrow I have to look for a new house,” he thought under the warm shower.
His body was almost shivering with cold, he was stupid for not taking a shower immediately. Tomorrow maybe Brian will catch a cold after the rain.
After cleaning and showering, Brian looked for food in his refrigerator, there was nothing except two packs of bread and a bottle of mineral water.
"It's okay, that's enough for now, tomorrow we'll be gone from here," he said as if convincing himself to accept what was there. Besides, Brian hadn't thought about shopping at all.
After making sure the money was sent to his uncle, Brian went home. Now he is sitting on the sofa without turning on the TV. Calculating the money he withdrew earlier to pay for everything, house rent, loan sharks, and college, as well as to pay for his uncle's medical expenses. He now entrusts his uncle's life to money, which he believes can give him life. He doesn't care how much money he has to spend so that his uncle can survive until he succeeds in achieving his dream.
Brian fell asleep exhausted after dividing the money according to needs. He thought he would need it for a down payment on a house. Falling asleep as the night wore on, Brian had no idea what was inside the package waiting for him to open. He just kept it on the table near the kitchen. If only Brian had opened it first, would he have considered everything?
Night turned to morning slowly to evening. Before Brian even opened his eyes, there was a knock on the door, then it turned into impatient banging with a woman's voice.
"Open the door!" the woman exclaimed impatiently.
With unsteady steps, Brian opened the door. The woman waited with an angry look.
"What took you so long? Did you just wake up?” His eyes bulged but Brian didn't care.
"I know what I have to do. You don't need to make a fuss like that," Brian commented.
"I don't care. Hurry up and pay the rent and leave,” he said matter-of-factly.
"Wait a moment. I'll get ready," replied Brian, not wanting to face it any longer.
Even though he had just woken up and felt bad, Brian thought he had the flu. He went into the room to get the bags, suitcases and other items that had been packed in boxes. As he was about to leave, Brian looked at the package again and took it beside him.
The woman was surprised to see Brian who was ready to leave.
"This is the rent for four months that I haven't paid, including this month," said Brian, shoving a brown envelope into the woman's hand. "And here are the keys," Brian dropped the house door key onto the envelope then took out the suitcase with the box. "Goodbye. Hopefully we never meet again. Thank you," he said then left.
Just descending the stairs, Brian was confronted by several men with large bodies and fierce faces.
"Even though it's still early," he complained, sighing.
The short, stocky man stood in front of him, Brian looked lazy to face him. Brian coughed, the man avoided him.
“Back off or I'll give you a cold?” he says.
"Fuck!" Despite swearing, the man also backed away.
While keeping the package under his left armpit, Brian took an envelope to give to the loan shark, but before he gave it, Brian held the envelope.
"What do you want?" asked the loan shark
"Give me proof of guarantee, I will give you this money," he said.
"You bastard," cursed the man but obeyed Brian's words.
The loan shark's men gave him a piece of paper proving his debt and Brian gave him the money to count. Seeing the envelope containing the money, the man's smile brightened, his gaze sparkled.
They signed the agreement without wasting any more time. Brian didn't want to stay with them any longer, and when he was done, he immediately left there, not caring about the people who had tortured him just because he had no money. But once the money was in their hands, they immediately became lenient.
“Cash is king,” he said.
I don't know where Brian will take shelter from the rain and heat today. Leaving without knowing the destination, only solving problems and threats, now he is confused about where to put his things. Maybe in a hotel or temporary storage area? Looking for a house was not an easy matter, he just acted without thinking about what would happen later.
For almost an hour he walked aimlessly, joining the crowd, just staring at the hotels or motels he passed. The hotel traumatized him, reminded him of Clarissa making out with another man and betraying him, it's really sad, isn't it?
Having trouble with his luggage, Brian stopped in the middle of the road, he glanced to the right, left, front and back, there was no one. His mind was so busy with something that he didn't know where he was now other than the deserted street. Suddenly his ears caught someone's groan.
"That's where it came from," he said to himself as he directed his gaze forward.
Brian hurried over, his voice becoming clearer. Brian turned around, and saw what happened. A girl is surrounded by several men.
"Please do not hurt me. "I don't have anything," said the girl in fear, hugging her shabby bag tightly as if it contained something valuable.
“Don't worry, beautiful. We won't take anything from you as long as you make us satisfied with yours, how about it?” said one of the men and they laughed happily
The girl became increasingly frightened which actually made the male bullies happy, her moans of fear were like moans calling them.
Brian sighed. He couldn't just leave it like that, especially since she was a helpless girl.
"Do not interfere." His heart whispered as Brian was about to step forward.
"Help."
Brian saw the girl's gaze penetrate the gap in the crowd of street thugs who trapped the girl's petite body against the wall. Her pitiful eyes and trembling lips called for Brian to save her.
“That's none of his business. Let's go." His heart held him back again, making Brian's steps hesitate.
In between the thugs' satisfied laughter, the girl's tears fell but Brian was confused, whether to follow his heart or save the girl? Clarissa's betrayal traumatized Brian's heart, and he doubted women, that's why he remained silent while looking at the girl with a look of pity. Then Brian turned around and left the place and ignored the girl.
Bruk! Bruk! His fist hit one of the street thugs and he fell. What Brian did surprised them. One by one they started to attack but Brian had the upper hand, he kicked, threw punches, and even slammed the big bodies of the thugs and they fell in an instant.Brian trains in self-defense and takes advantage when the men are off guard. But that only knocked them out, it didn't make them faint at all. There was no time left, Brian grabbed the girl's hand and ran from there and two thugs got up to chase him.Brian took advantage of that little time. He realized that thugs like them wouldn't be easily defeated, that's why he just knocked them out and then took the girl to escape.“That way. Chase them!” One of the thugs shouted in a loud voice.Brian continued to run while pulling the girl's hand who kept looking behind her in fear. Brian then changed his running direction, turned, and continued to pull the girl. There was a small alley, Brian brought the girl closer to him. They caught thei
“By the way, I haven't introduced myself yet My name is Alessia Antheari, you can call me Alessia," said the girl as she reached out her hand to Brian. For a few moments, Brian just stared at the girl's outstretched hand in front of him, hesitant to be with her because once they touched, it was like lifelong contact with Brian."Are you sure?" Instead of answering, Brian asked a question that confused the girl."What?"“Are you sure you want to shake hands with me?”"Why not? So what?"Brian didn't answer, looking at the girl's hands which turned out to have long and beautiful fingers, as if he took good care of them."That means, you have to be with me for the rest of your life," said Brian, directing his eyes at the girl."I don't care. You were the one who saved me, sir. So, okay.” Alessia raised her hand again to shake Brian.Seeing the girl's confidence, Brian raised his hand and shook it."Brian Dhariftan, you can call me Brian, no sir," he said.Alessia smiled broadly as soon a
Brian went to one of the houses, whether it was a beautiful mansion in an elite area,- or one of the units on the top floor called the penthouse. Throughout the journey, his mind was busy guessing who would be willing to spend money on poor people like himself."So, where are you going now?" Alessia asked. The girl sat next to Brian on the bus that would take them to one of the houses."I don't know. I'll check first which one I feel comfortable with," Brian answered without looking at the girl.Their introductory handshake was like shaking hands for a servant and master contract. Brian had explained it and Alessia didn't mind because she would only follow whoever had saved the girl from disaster. If Brian didn't come, maybe his honor would be tarnished. Brian was surprised to hear Alessia's words. This tells Brian that there are still people who protect his honor, just like Brian. Both houses can be reached by bus or taxi, the distance is only about twenty minutes. The distance from
Brian opened the lid of the unlocked box. He sat on one of the sofas facing the entrance. The expression on his face was so serious as if he was hoping for a clue that would lead directly to the person giving the money. There were so many questions in his mind about the mysterious figure who gave Brian life. Is it a god or God or something that might have crazy magical powers that transfer hundreds of thousands of dollars overnight, then now two houses with a clue?Brian turned his head when Alessia returned. The girl now looked fresh and even radiant. Alessia put a glass of cold water on the table for Brian who didn't feel thirsty at all and the girl took a sitting position on the sofa not far from the man."Who knows, you might be thirsty. This is very refreshing. The refrigerator in the kitchen is full of various foods, fruits, and vegetables. It looks like someone has just prepared it or something," Alessia said to Brian.
They moved to the living room, just like before, Brian looked displeased. The living room is quite spacious with sofas and so on. Then Brian moved to the next room. The dining room is integrated with the living room and kitchen. As Alessia said, the two-door refrigerator was full of ingredients. Two refrigerators, but that are similar have different contents. Not only the refrigerator, but the shelf above the stove table also has various contents, be it coffee beans, various types of tea, or so on when Brian opens the shelves one by one.Brian took a bottle of juice and brought it to the dining table that could seat about six people. Two on either side, one in the middle. Brian sat in the middle facing the glass door, with a view of the swimming pool
After seeing the whole house, Brian fell asleep in his room. It was starting to get dark out there, tiredness finally made Brian fall asleep soundly. His body felt uncomfortable, Brian should have caught a cold because yesterday afternoon he got caught in the rain and didn't clean himself immediately. However, because there were lots of events in the morning and walking around all day, Brian forgot that he was sick. His eyes blinked slowly. Brian woke up from his sleep in a random position in his bed. His eyes moved to glance around, thinking maybe he was just dreaming of getting all the things Brian had dreamed of all this time. Who would have thought that Brian would wake up in his rented room and find the landlord collecting his arrears? However, it turns out that what Brian experienced that day with Alessia was reality. Brian's surroundings are now a comfortable and clean place. Brian tried to sit up but his head felt heavy and his vision became blurry for a moment, and he felt li
Morning has replaced night. Brian woke up from his deep sleep with the help of medicine. Even though he has not fully recovered, his body condition is getting better. Brian got up and sat on the sofa. His gaze wandered around the quiet living room. The lights had been turned off, only the bright morning light was visible through the clear glass walls."Good morning."Brian turned to where the voice came from. Alessia smiled at him, for some reason seeing that smile made Brian uncomfortable. I don't know where the girl came from. Alessia suddenly appeared out of nowhere, or maybe Brian didn't hear the footsteps."Morning," Brian answered a little lazily.Seeing a girl's smile somehow made him a little nauseous. Maybe Clarissa used to smile warmly at him, even a little if she wanted to, and that was proven.Brian turned his face away from Alessia who was still standing where she was."What time is it," Brian muttered as he looked for the clock."Five minutes past seven," said Alessia wi
“Of course, I will,” Brian said.Alessia didn't understand.“I'm just going to make the most of this opportunity. Repaying them as late as possible while doing all the things that are my dreams and proving to them that poor people like me also have the opportunity and luck to enjoy life like them," he explained in a confident and firm tone.Brian's eyes flashed with enthusiasm. He was confident that he could hit back at the despicable and humble words people had thrown at him previously. He will walk confidently from now on and continue walking for his dreams.“And I will prove to Clarissa that a pathetic man like me will be much better after being dumped in such a humiliating way. I will repay her slowly until the girl regrets throwing me away."What Brian said looked very serious, especially with his sharp eyes as if he was ready to fight. But Brian will
For a long time, he was silent in the room with his reflection in the mirror. The big event finally took place tonight, at one of the five-star hotels owned by the Kent Group. Brian looked at his reflection in the mirror. Everything was ready, and he looked perfect in a navy suit, Brian let his hair a little messy to make an impression, after all, that was his style. His watch was on, and so were his shoes."Let's go, Young Master," said Kiara, peeking at Brian from behind his bedroom door. The girl's smile always seduced him.Brian turned around,- and nodded.Kiara welcomed Brian, hugged the man's arm affectionately, and even laughed happily as she walked down the stairs in a long-sleeved, knee-length navy dress, just like Brian. Manda didn't want her daughter to show off her curves so she designed a dress that was closed but elegant. Kiara looked like a princess with her black hair neatly styled and decorated with beautiful hairpins.Everyone was waiting for him in the living room.
Is everything finished now? I don't think so. There were still disturbing feelings in Brian's heart.“Even so, I remained by his side. Because honestly, I liked Miles the first time I saw him. But, he was cold,- and didn't care about the meeting at all. I know that he has someone he loves. Jealousy got the best of me, making me think of crazy things to separate them."Brian's heart ached when he heard Miles' confession. How bad is jealousy if it gets out of control? Is it that difficult to endure, and get rid of that feeling of jealousy? Brian didn't know, but it was something everyone had.“Miles didn't know anything, neither did Chintia, and I was the one who separated them. For some reason, I wanted to meet you,- and say this. To be honest, the feeling of guilt after Miles died in an accident because of my uncle made me unable to calm down. Then, I heard a rumor that Miles had a child. Of course, the child wasn't with me, because Miles never touched me.”A feeling of relief envelop
Seeing that the girl was busy, Brian's thoughts began to wander, and his heartbeat increased even more. For the first time, Brian felt such a strong urge within himself."Is that okay?" Brian asked in his heart.Occasionally the man glanced at Alessia's smiling face. He still seemed happy because Sean already had a girlfriend, which meant Alessia would have a sister-in-law. Brian doesn't understand, but Brian seems to have to admit that Sean is great,- and unexpected. Even though they had often been together, they had never seen a man with a woman."They're not dressed." Brian blinked his eyelids even more. What is the meaning of that thought?"I am done. Would you like a snack tonight?” Alessia offered while drying her hands and looking at Brian who remained silent. For some reason, the lighting behind the girl became dazzling, making Alessia even more charming. Are the hormones in Brian's body active? Oh, wherever Brian is, he doesn't seem to feel any hormonal fluctuations.“Bryan?”
After Azil conveyed this to Brian, Brian's doubts about his father shook his heart, but he couldn't change his decision. For several days, Brian decided to stay in the house that Miles gave him. Arnold didn't mind it either because Brian needed to calm down. That question filled Brian's mind and heart again. What was his father's reason for sleeping with another woman? Is it still appropriate for Brian to call Miles his father? I don't know, Brian doubts it.The house is still the same because someone always comes to clean. Brian also comes occasionally. Brian won't be able to leave that house, maybe one day he will decide there, rather than Arnold's big house.“I will prepare for tonight. Do you want something?" Alessia asked as usual. The girl also accompanied Brian."Whatever you cook," Brian answered.Alessia just nodded and went to the kitchen to make dinner. For several days together at home, Brian was just silent, occasionally reviewing material for his campus trial which would
"I don't believe it. Brother Miles can't do something embarrassing like that. He must have been framed. That's right, he must have been framed," said Manda hysterically, not believing what she saw.Brian couldn't say anything, neither did Azil, even Liam who tried to calm Manda."Who's he?" Brian finally asked. But Azil was silent and shook his head."Jenifer, you may have heard of it," Liam said in response to Brian's question.Brian's eyes moved, the woman who had an arranged marriage with Miles but was rejected,- was close to Brian's father,- and was involved in Miles' accident.Brian didn't say anything now,- and cupped his face with his palms. Closed his eyes, let the clear and salty liquid fall from his eyelids, and cried silently. Brian's heart ached, why could this happen? His poor mother.Manda is still crying regretting her ignorance in the past. What happened, whether true or otherwise? Brian doesn't know, but now the question is why his mother left after trying to survive
“You can continue, don't mind Manda. We will still listen even if it hurts,” Liam said to Azil.Even though he was a little hesitant, seeing Brian waiting made Azil nod his head.“I insisted not to ask what the reason was. But, I secretly went back to town to find out,- and also told Miles. However, what do I get? Just hate and hurt when I see Miles with a woman, even though he looks so happy," said Azil.Azil's facial expression changed to anger, but that was only for a moment. After taking a deep breath, we continued the story.“I came back,- but didn't say anything to Sis Chintia. However, I understand the reason for making a sudden decision, and not even explaining anything. The heartache of being betrayed by a woman is like the end of everything. I understood Sis Chintia's decision,- and decided to leave, even hide. Sis Chintia probably thought that by disappearing, Miles would be happy.""That's not true," muttered Manda. “We have never been happier since then,” he continued, so
"So, I think it's time for you to find out what happened to your mother," said Azil.Brian automatically straightened up when he heard Azil involve his mother in the story he was going to tell."Mother?" Brian assured Azil that he had heard correctly."Yes, your mother, Chintia," repeated Azil, looking at Brian. "I came to tell you the reason why Sis Chintia chose to leave your father and hide herself," continued the man.Brian's eyelids moved slowly. When Brian started to no longer want to know about the past, and the reasons why his mother chose to give up after maintaining the relationship with all her might. But when Brian tried not to care, and decided not to know, someone came, claiming to know the reason."What has happened?" Brian asked in a weak voice.Brian's chest was now rumbling, there was a feeling of tightness touching his chest. What might Brian have heard from Azil about his mother making secret decisions?Azil sighed, focusing his gaze on Brian who was waiting to hea
Brian's busy life is always the same, studying, practicing, and working. Spending time doing many things doesn't make him feel bored, the man is enthusiastic about continuing. If no one reminded him to rest, Brian would drown in his busy life.Alessia is like a living alarm for Brian, the girl reminds Brian when it's time to rest, have lunch or dinner, and when he should go to bed early and wake up. Even though the distance between them has now widened, attention and affection have never diminished, on the contrary. That afternoon Brian had just come out of Arnold's study which he usually used for studying. A text message came to Brian's cell phone.[I came to visit, are you free?]Ask for a text message from Azil.Brian immediately responded with a telephone call,- and asked if Uncle Azil would come.“Yes, I came to visit,” answered Azil.“Where is Uncle now? I'll pick you up," said Brian."No need. "I've arrived," said Azil."Here?" Brian turned around and looked for his uncle."Yes
Brian threw himself on the living room sofa, there was no one there. Brian was tired even though he didn't do much work."Being the center of attention is tiring," Brian muttered with a sigh."Why?"Brian turned to where the voice came from. Manda appeared out of nowhere with a jar of snacks in her hand,- and a cup of drink that was still steaming. The afternoon is perfect for spending time with a cup of warm drink.Straightened his body and sat down. Brian watched his aunt put cups and jars on the table and then looked at Brian.“What are you mumbling about, Brian?” Manda asked curiously. However, Brian was silent and Manda did not demand that Brian say it."You have to be able to handle it," said Manda after taking the television remote and changing the channel. "When it's finished, you'll get used to it, and after that maybe you won't care," continued Manda as if he knew what Brian was muttering. If Manda knows, why ask? Brian thought his aunt's attitude was a little strange.“I'm
