5. Grazy Suprise

The life that Brian believed was fine with his limitations is now destroyed. He no longer had hope. People despise and insult him who has nothing. Is happiness so expensive to achieve for someone who was born poor and without parents? Is a happy life only for those whose families are complete and have money? Dreams just need to be achieved without having to try?

Brian walked under the rain that fell that afternoon. The sky was dark with the roar of lightning striking. His mind was in a mess. The words he heard, the looks in his eyes, and the actions of people destroyed his soul which for the past fifteen years had been trying to survive. Do they know, it wasn't easy for Brian to get to this point, when he had a dark childhood in the care of his uncle, because his aunt didn't want him to be seen as a burden, but his uncle still defended him, cheering him on in the midst of torture and hurtful words. what his aunt said. Not to mention his cousin who confiscated all his belongings, tortured him and even slandered him.

Brian survived because of his uncle, he then had aspirations and dreams to change his life and provide comfort for his uncle until finally when he graduated from school he decided to go to college with good grades and savings left by his mother, but it turned out that his hopes did not match reality.

"Why? Why did I have to be born with such bad luck?" he said as he stopped on the bridge. "Why?" shouted Brian, letting out all the emotions inside him.

Her tears were neutralized by the rain that fell heavily on her body. He cried over his unfortunate fate. Brian should have realized that poor people don't need to dream. However, he wanted to prove that even though he was born poor, it didn't mean he didn't have dreams. Everyone has the right to dream and achieve it.

His attention was focused on the surface of the river water below him. Brian thought, if he jumped, wouldn't he have to experience this suffering? His dreams will be shattered tomorrow, he will have no place to live, he will not be able to support his uncle, and his life will be threatened at the hands of loan sharks who collect debts from him. The water ripples seemed to be calling him, by ending his life, everything would be over.

“Sorry, Uncle. "I'm sorry, mother. I think it's better to catch up with you than to live humiliated like this," he said.

His lips trembled, his chest pounded, an indescribable tug, a strange foreign feeling churned in his chest, a sensation that made Brian freeze on the first step of his feet up the iron barrier. Just before Brian jumped, the cell phone in his trouser pocket vibrated, stopping his action.

Maybe from Dion, his younger cousin would definitely tell him about his uncle's condition, or even say that he was short of money and needed to be paid immediately. However, according to Brian, there was no harm in picking up the phone, he could leave a farewell message to his uncle because his life would end right now.

“Sir, your account just received a transfer of $500,000,000.”

Brian's eyelids fluttered slowly as the words of the connection sank into his brain and he processed what he had just heard.

“$500,000,000?” Brian repeated.

"Yes sir."

Brian was shocked, his eyes widened, his breath hitched, a surprise he never imagined.

"Is it true? How could that be?" he asked in disbelief. “You must be wrong.”

“That's right, sir. You can check it at the bank where you registered your account. This is in the name of Brian Dhariftan.” The voice came from a woman who was a bank employee.

"Wait. I'll go there now."

"Of course. I will wait for you, sir.”

The connection was lost but Brian didn't immediately move from his place, still thinking about what he had just heard.

Plaque!

Brian slapped his cheek hard, thinking this was just a dream.

"Sick. This really isn't a dream?” he thought. "But..." He hesitated when he was about to take a step. “How so? Who sent it?”

His cell phone vibrated again in his hand. This time Brian looked at his cellphone screen, making sure first. Dion contacted him and he accepted.

"Hello?"

"Brother Brian, what should we do now? Dad... Dad needs surgery again because there is a valve leak in his heart. They are still in the operating room. Dad's life may not be saved this time because this operation is full of risks."

“What are the chances of survival?”

“40% if the valve can be replaced. But it may cost more.”

This time Brian felt like he had been struck by lightning when he heard the news. His uncle wouldn't survive. Heart surgery is the only way, but it definitely costs a lot of money. Without speaking to Dion again, Brian rushed to the bank to ensure that the information provided by the bank employee was not wrong.

No matter how fast his legs ran, Brian didn't care how far he had to travel. In his mind now there is only one thing, saving his uncle who is his home and breath. Not caring how people saw him and immediately avoiding him for fear of being hit by rainwater that would wet his body, Brian arrived at the bank and immediately looked for the employee who contacted him.

"Hello, I'm Brian Dhariftan, you contacted me earlier." Brian said in front of a woman's table.

“Oh hello. Please sit down,” said the woman.

Brian complied while controlling his irregular breath, flowing through his dry throat from lack of breath.

"Here sir, please confirm," said the female employee as she turned her computer screen towards Brian.

Brian repeatedly emphasized that the account was in his name, and the amount was as stated. Brian also asked other people if that was true. He justified it until he was sure it was true, he was now rich!

“Then I can withdraw it at any time, right? No matter how many times I withdraw, it doesn't matter how many millions, right? I… could buy a life with that, couldn't I? Right?” Brian continued to ask the employee for confirmation who could only smile at his seemingly crazy attitude.

Some people who saw him thought, “He must be crazy.”

Brian didn't care. He would withdraw a few million, and transfer it to Dion for his uncle's hospital expenses. With that money, Brian can buy a house, right? He was able to pay the loan sharks and continue his studies and then achieve his dream of becoming a successful businessman who could provide a comfortable life for his uncle without fear or worry of lacking anything.

As soon as he finished his business at the bank and contacted Dion, tomorrow he would go home to check on Uncle's condition directly. Brian returned to the rental house in the afternoon, the landlady was waiting for him in front and even banged on the door.

"I don't think you need to tell me to leave, ma'am. I will be happy to leave this house," said Brian.

"What do you mean? You have to pay before you leave," the woman shouted.

"Of course. You don't need to worry. I will bring you the money tomorrow, because time runs out until tomorrow," stressed Brian.

Seeing Brian's confident attitude, the woman who owned Brian's house just looked at him from head to toe then turned her head away, leaving Brian without another word.

Brian sighed once the woman was gone. When he was about to open the door to his house, his attention was caught by a package that had his name written on it.

“There was no sender. From whom?” he asked. There was no one around except him.

After confirming that the package was for him, Brian went into the house to open the package and prepare everything. However, what is in the package and who sent it?
