“No—this couldn’t happen.”
Nash stood frozen while seeing all the horrendous scenes with his own eyes.
“MONSTER! THERE ARE MONSTERS EVERYWHERE!”
“EVERYONE PLEASE RUN!”
“WHAAAAAA!”
“MAMA!”
Nash did not even move from his standing place when seeing the village getting attacked by monsters. His feet were glued on the ground when the ugly monsters destroyed house after house, eating people mercilessly, snapping their flesh, and making their blood scattered everywhere.
“M-m-m-m-monster! Monster! The monster has come and they’ll kill us! They’ll kill us!” Pierre, the little brat that lived beside Mr. Jenkins’ house, now cried like a madman, passing through in front of Chi and Gressida’s house and running toward the forest.
His mind went blank when seeing all those nightmarish scenes. The village drowned in fire, and people ran back and forth to escape from the monster attack, kids cried because their parents died, and Nash still stood like a statue watching all of that. He remembered this scene from his long nightmare.
Everything happened just like his dream.
So, it was not a nightmare?
“AAAAAAH!”
A loud scream came over Gressida’s house, which made Nash turned his head fast and saw a monster walked over there. The monster was two feet tall with a sharp fang, and its two long arms dragged on the ground. Gressida and Chisato hugged each other while hiding behind the window.
(I must save them, I must save them!)
Nash left foot moved forward, his strong will defeated the fear inside him, and Nash sprinted toward Gressida’s house. He picked up a stone on the ground and threw it fast at the monster. The rock smacked the monster’s head and made it growl from anger. It turned to Nash, who stood alone without a weapon or defense, which was just him and himself alone.
He later regretted his decision to flame the monster's anger but was too late to do that now. The monster changed its direction and now chased Nash with a bloodshed expression.
(Screw it.)
Nash hurried to his house. He might find something useful there to fight that thing.
“HOWRAAAAA! GWRAAA!”
The monster slammed its long arm into Nash’s house roof. Nash was inside the basement, looking for a useful weapon when the ground suddenly shook from the monster's attack. “Shit, shit, shit.”
He darted his gaze around the basement while holding onto the wall and found something there. A wide grin appeared on Nash's face as he moved forward to reach that thing. “That’s it. That will do.”
It was a crossbow. His father crossbow. Nash once saw how his father hunted in the forest using this crossbow. He picked up the crossbow and a pack of its arrow before going outside using the back door because that monster was in front of his house. He filled the crossbow with an arrow and put on a vigilant step when he was walking outside the door.
CRASH!
Nash rolled on the ground quickly when the roof suddenly collapsed due to the monster arm attack, and half of Nash’s house crumbled instantly.
(Mom! Dad!)
All their memories also shattered along with the house ruins. Nash bit his lips hard, he would never forgive that monster for killing the last memories of his parents. He crouched down and prepared to shoot the monster using the crossbow with his father's method.
(Lock the target—done.)
Nash aimed for the monster's eyes. He did not know where the monster's weak spot was, but he knew that eyes had always been the softest spot to be shot by an arrow.
(Put the crossbow below the chin—done.)
(And, shoot!)
The arrow on Nash’s crossbow flew fast toward the long-arm monster, and it pierced precisely into its eyes. The monster bawled in pain and tumbled on the ground while covering its face. Fuming with rage, the monster got up and dashed toward Nash with only one eye open.
“GHWAAAA! WHAAAAH!”
Nash did not miss that golden opportunity and put another arrow inside the crossbow. He aimed for another eye and made that ugly monster went blind.
“WHAAAAAAAAA!” The monster could not see anything and ran wild whenever its instinct led.
“Yes!” He was pleased with his own crossbow skill and throwing a fist. But, it was just temporary happiness when that monster ran toward Gressida’s house at full speed.
“No! No!” Nash threw over the crossbow and ran as fast as he could to get ahead of that monster. He arrived there first and opened the door fast.
“Chi! Grandma!” shouted Nash out loud, he did not have much time before the monster arrived. He needed to ensure both of them were safe and help them get out of this place.
“Nash!” Chisato, who was still hiding under a table, heard Nash’s voice and approached him fast. She held her grandmother’s hand tightly. “Nash, how did you get here—”
“There’s no time to talk! Just follow me! C’mon!” Nash pulled Chisato’s hand and dragged her toward the front door.
“Nash! I’m scared!” Chisato burst into panic while trying to hold Nash's hand with her right hand, she forgot that she was holding a ring, so the ring fell and rolled on the ground. Nash stopped to pick it up for a while, but he did not return it to Chisato because they were busy running.
“GWRAAA!” Nash looked back and saw the monster behind him, trying to reach him using its long arm. Even though he would not make it alive, he did not regret it as long as those women were alive.
He pushed Gressida and Chisato forward, which made them almost stumbled to the ground. “Go! Run fast and never look back!”
When Chisato looked back to protest, she streaked with a horrific scene where a giant hand grabbed Nash from behind and pulled him backward. What made it worse was Nash’s expression which told her that he was scared, but he tried to hide it with a wide smile as he pulled behind. “Go! Now!”
CRASH!
Gressida’s house smashed flat when another giant monster flew from the sky and fell on her house, burying the long-arm monster and Nash underneath it.
“NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” Chisato screamed in horror when seeing deep red fluid start flowing out under her house ruins. She wanted to get Nash back, but the giant monster tried to get up, making her not have options other than running from that place. She ran fast while holding her grandmother’s hand tightly in her arms, tried to escape from that place, and found a safe shelter. Chisato had no idea that Nash was left behind and buried alive under the ruins.
If it were not Nash, they would die underneath that place. Nash saved them and wanted them to make it out alive. So, she would do it just as he asked. Tears started to flow out from her eyes, and she wiped them quickly.
“I’m sorry, Nash. I’m sorry. I’m sorry.”
Back to the place where Nash was buried alive, things that remained there were the corpse of the long-arm monster and Nash dying. Two-thirds of his body was beneath the ruin of walls, while his head was still safe. But it was useless because he could feel one of his broken ribs piercing his heart and blood flowing out from his mouth. He just lay there alone, waiting for his death to come.
While waiting for his death, Nash remembered this scene was inside his dream. Did he predict his death using a dream? Or God just tried to show how he would die?
(Well, whatever. It’ll be good if I could die fast.)
Nash started to shut his eyes slowly. His face was white as a sheet, proof that blood had left his body. Even though Nash could not achieve his dream of having a house in the suburbs or married with his dream girl, he did not regret that. Instead, he was excited to meet with his parents again in the afterlife.
(Mom, Dad, I’m coming.)

(Huh?)
[You have completed all the requirements of the hidden quest ‘Courage Of The Unseen’]
[Welcome, Player Nash Ledger.]
(Huhhhhhhhh?)
In Nash’s sea of consciousness… “Where am I?” White mist surrounded Nash and made him could not see anything except the endless mist. The area where he stood now was a clear sea, Nash could see his own reflection on its surface but did not have ideas how deep it was. Snapping from his amazement, Nash remembered that he had died due to blood loss, so it meant that he was in the afterlife now? He smiled bitterly and murmured softly, “I hope Chi and Grandma still alive. So my sacrifice would not be in vain.” Nash accepted his miserable death with an open heart because what was important to him was the fact that he was free from that pain and could meet his parents soon. “Alright, time to go.” Wooooossssh! When Nash tried to touch the mist cloud, it disappeared quickly in spherical, showing what was hidden there. Nash could not help but feel confused when he saw nothing there. It was only him and just himself. He tried to walk forward, it might be that he would find someone or so
A tingling sensation approached Nash’s pale cheeks, making them flush a dim red under the cast of warm sunlight even though it had entered the late autumn season in Terraria. Some of the sun light rays shone upon Nash closed eyelids, making it twitch a little. The eyeballs inside it move from side to side at a fast pace, as if they experienced a bad dream. Snap! Suddenly the eyes were opened and showed both jade pupils that grew wider from shock and fear. (What is it? Am I … really getting back to this world?) He could see a clear azure sky unfolded above him, with some hazy and pearl-white clouds painted on it. Nash tried to blink several times and looked closely at the sky, but the scenery remained the same. He did come back to life, even after his lungs got pierced by his own ribs and died alone because of blood loss underneath Gressida’s house ruins. Oh, right! Gressida! Chisato! Nash quickly got up and found that he was lying on the grass in the middle of the forest. Where
“Twelve, thirteen, fourteen. What? Is that all you have in your pocket? Just fourteen coins?” Slap! Nash, who was now sitting on top of those unconscious thugs, slapped their faces using empty wallet bag that Nash had taken from them. If someone saw them right now, Nash looked more like a real thug than the one that fainted beneath him. This might not be stated in detail because Nash was just a mere NPC with less exposure in Heaven of Terraria, but the real thing is—Nash was a total menace in his village. Of course he was an orphan, but it did not mean he would just stay quiet like a coward if another kid said something mean about his dead parents or Chisato. Nash beat all of them with his strength, and when he entered his adolescence era, no one in the village or neighbour village dared to insult him. That explained why Nash was an expert being a lumberjack, his arm strength was not a joke. “T-that’s all we have.” “Ughh, uhhhh—please let us go.” They groaned in pain with all th
Stomp! Stomp! Stomp! A person barged into a large room filled with two people dressed in shining armor and sat on a chair that surrounded a circle table. The old man that sat on the left, with long white hair and a vertical scar on his face, stood up to greet that person. “Welcome, Dimitri. What’s brought you here so suddenly—” “Cut it off, Joe. You know we aren’t in the situation to joke around like this.” Dimitri, a young man with platinum blonde hair wearing a noble suit that matched his hair colour, glared at Jonathan. “Relax, Dim. Joe just wants to welcome you.” Beside Joe was a beautiful woman, she wore a long red dress with a shawl made from phoenix fur. “How I’m supposed to relax in this fucked up situation, Merl? Tell me, how?” Merlene shrugged her shoulder lightly and continued sipping her wine from the cup while Jonathan sat back again and heaved a sigh when he watched Dimitri moving back and forth like some confused fleas. “Did the last group not make it again?” aske
Morning had come. But Nash had not slept at all since yesterday. He kept overthinking about the fox girl that Siegrid was dragging last night. Nash did not know why he was feeling like this.Maybe it was because that girl’s appearance kinda resembled Chisato, a girl that Nash considered as his own little sister, so his brother feeling could not accept with the harsh treatment she received from Siegrid. Now Nash was lying on a damp haystack in an empty stable. Then he got up and looked around. The reek smell of horse’s dung stacked here made Nash unable to sleep and stay awake, but what could he do? Nash was similar to a beggar now, and a beggar was not allowed to ask for more.“I need to find money first,” he said while grabbing his empty stomach that had growled since last night. A potato was not enough to satisfy his appetite.Nash got up and walked outside the stables. He needed to wash himself first, because he smelled similar to those dungs now, and the clients probably ran from
“Colin, do you believe gold really exists inside the tower?”A petite-looking man with freckles on his face looked up with a bemused expression while standing in front of a huge tower that emitted a chilling aura. He quivered from fear and trembled while holding his garden fork as his main weapon to defeat whatever was inside.“I doubt that too, but I saw so many people with shining armor go inside it and leave with so many golds and jewels! Emir, we need to go inside and find it!” Colin gripped Emir’s shoulder firmly and looked directly at his auburn pupils.Colin and Emir were brothers. They came from a poor family that lived in the slum area in Torrenfield.Even though they were poor, Colin and Emir never lacked of food. But since two weeks ago, things started to become worse and poor people like them starved for days because farm and barn were on the edge of chaos due to extreme weather that kept coming. So, Colin and Emir needed to think fast about how to find money in this chaot
“EVERYONE, ATTENTION PLEASE!”A loud voice came from the front side, making all people suddenly become quiet and focused their attention on the sole voice. On a podium in front of the tower gate, a big man covered in heavy armor and brought a huge axe on his back stood with pride on his face. He looked around at all volunteers there and grinned wide.“Welcome, brave soldiers. Thank you for coming here and becoming part of the group raid today. My name is Jonathan, your raid captain today. And the two people sitting there is my companion, who will pay you if you all manage to defeat the monster boss and finish this tower.” Jo pointed his index finger to a gazebo on the west side of the Schlydia tower, and everyone there turned their heads in curiosity.Dimitri, who wore a noble white suit and black glasses that covered his red ruby eyes, lifted his right palm as a quick greeting while Merlene smiled genuinely. There were already some men that fell for her seduction. She giggled, lookin
“Hosh … hosh … I can’t do this anymore.”[There are still 50 sit up, 30 push up, 55 jump squats, and 2 kilometers running left. Complete it before dawn comes and the hidden gift will be given.]While lying on the ground and panting hard like some dying beast, Nash slowly regretted his decision this morning. Because of his inferiority complex towards Siegrid’s rank level, Nash asked the system if there was any shortcut to gain a new skill without defeating the beast first. The system suddenly set a daily training for him; if he did not finish it in the meantime, a penalty would be imposed on him.“C-can I continue it tomorrow morning?” Nash tried to bargain.[No.]“How cold,” he pouted his lips and heaved a resigned sigh. “Well, I’m the one who asked this. I need to finish it myself.”He stood up with all his remaining strength and almost stumbled aside because his left leg felt numb. Nash smiled in sorrow and joked bitterly. “Ugh—I’m not sure if I’ll make it alive tomorrow, hahaha.”H
