Chapter Seven

The night passed by after that incident and Alexander was able to get a full night's sleep - although he did toss and turn a bit with the drowning girl plaguing his dreams. Alexander was thankful that he'd gotten to her just in time and saved the day.

Alexander stood in front of the mirror, he was dressing up for a very important event. Just then, one of the guards assigned to him, Brad came in and bowed respectfully, "The event has commented," he had and Alexander nodded. He pulled in his tie and fixed his dark red bow tie in place before he turned to the door. "How do I look?" He asked.

The man looked surprised that he was asking for his opinion, he replied, "Whatever the grand master does is perfect." Alexander resisted the urge to roll his eyes at his speech and rather left the room, hearing him follow closely behind.

They arrived at the banquet in a silver Bentley, drawing attention. He could hear some of the onlookers whisper curiously. "It seems no one recognizes you, master, they don't seem to know you're the president's ex husband," Brad noted.

He was quite observant, Alex decided. It was true that very few people knew and recognized him as the husband of Fiona Tudor. She had been very adamant about keeping their marriage under wraps, now, it all made sense. "You're right, the only one who knew about our marriage was close relatives of her, anyone outside the Tudor family likely knows me," he replied.

"Master, do you want me to do something about it?" Brad asked and again, Alex stopped him. He wasn't interested in getting even with Fiona, he was just relieved to have her leave him in peace - assuming she would.

"There's no need, I don't have to prove anything to__" but even as he spoke, he heard his name from behind. Ironically, someone had just recognized him despite him thinking that no one would.

"Alexander, is that you?" A feminine voice said and he turned. It was Lucy, Fiona's cousin and she didn't look very happy to see him.

Alex had a little history with Lucy. She had mistaken him for a chauffeur the first day that Fiona introduced him to the Tudor family and she'd not been willing to apologize. Fiona had swept the insult under the rug but it was clear that she didn't still respect him after many years. "What are you doing here?" She asked, looking down at him. She had a slim and handsome man beside her and she couldn't wish to show him off.

"Meet my fiance, his name is Jimmy and he's going to make our engagement official today," she announced proudly.

"Good for you," Alex replied but she didn't wait for him to say anything else, she asked where his IV was.

"You're not these doormen, ma'am, keep off," Brad spat, coming closer. Lucy turned to look at him and scowled, "Who is this thug?! How dare you bring a thug to our party?" She asked angrily.

The man she was with, Jimmy, quickly pulled her behind him and asked Brad to leave if he didn't want a fight. "You don't talk to my woman in that manner, bro," Jimmy sneered.

Alexander didn't want to cause a scene so he quickly told Brad to step back and not engage, "I was invited, Lucy, you don't have to make a fuss," he said.

Lucy snorted and looked at him scornfully, "I doubt that, in sure you begged Lucy to bring you along, you have always been a tag along, haven't you?" She said,

"Didn't Fiona finally settle for that oil mogul? I thought she divorced him," Jimmy said mockingly. Lucy laughed and said that she almost forgot that, "I almost forgot that Fiona kicked you out of her life for good, I'm sure I forgot because you have never really been a part of it in the first place," she said.

"You better have an IV, this place isn't for losers like you, you can't come in here and ruin the air," Jimmy snapped.

Immediately, Lucy had an idea, she wanted to go and tell her cousin, Fiona, just to make sure that she had really invited him. "I have my eyes on you," Lucy said as she strolled off.

Brad was pissed, he believed that Alex had to take more dominance and let the entire city know that he wasn't to be messed with, he couldn't fathom why Alexander still wanted to live low-key. "These people are disrespecting you a whole lot, this isn't right, young master," he said, upset.

"I've been used to this life, don't forget, we have a plan and I have to remain quiet," Alex replied lightly with a smile. He didn't want to get more attention, he had to remain calm.

"Let me get you a seat at the VIP section, sir," Brad said as he handed him a flute of champagne with both hands and walked away.

Alexander was still looking around the room, he could see a few faces he recognized as Fiona's distant cousins and others that he' didn't know. His eyes were still glancing about the banquet hall when suddenly, he felt a tap on his shoulders. "Lucy told me that you came here to look for trouble," someone said. It was his ex mother-in-law, Grace.

"Hello, Mrs Tudor, it's been a while," Alex said but she ignored him and nodded at the guards that's he had brought, "Save your pleasantries, Alex, you should have known that you're not welcome here, my daughter is done with you and there's no need coming back to beg," she snapped angrily, "This was a long time coming, I warned you that the Tudor family wanted nothing to do with you anymore."

Alex wasn't given the opportunity to say anything when she nodded at the men who quickly got in his space and gripped him firmly, "Take him out or here!" Grace snapped.

Suddenly, the music stopped and a loud voice commanded coldly, "Don't dare touch him!"
