Chapter 006 - A Pitiful Mark

*****

Even before Rebecca, her mother, and her new boyfriend were spotted, everybody had already rushed toward the vehicle that brought them over.

They were all utterly amazed by the expensive car which none of them had seen before in real life except in movies.

Their eyes began to glow as they waited for the car’s door to open, and as soon as it did, they circled the three and started giving the short and not-so-handsome Gab idolization gazes

“Is that the wealthy young man?”

“So handsome!”

“Welcome, Young master, my name is…”

“Young master, I am…”

Ignoring Mark and his problem, everybody there began to throw all sorts of flattering words at the young man, praising him to the peak.

“Ahhh!!” With his tears mixed with his snorts, Mark's sob increased upon witnessing the scene that was going on.

Although he didn't want to accept the reality, Mark ultimately understood why everybody, despite having a good relationship with himself and his family refused to offer any hand of help.

It was because he had offended someone as powerful as Gab, and since they were scared that they would become Gab’s enemy and offend the other party by helping him, they all ignored his pleas for help.

Mark lost all hope and his heart shattered into countless pieces to never become whole again.

He was so devastated and greatly anguished.

‘This was my fault!’

'Everything was my fault!'

He clenched his fists with all the strength he could muster, cursing himself in his mind for bringing about his family's doom.

Mark felt that everything was still a nightmare.

While he was doing this, Rebecca, her mother, and boyfriend, who acted as though they couldn’t see the crowd, ignoring them finally got to him.

“Is that blood tears I’m seeing falling from your eyes?” Gab suddenly asked with a hint of playfulness, immediately making everybody look at Mark’s face.

They were all shocked at the sight they saw.

As Gab had stated, the tears falling from Mark’s eyes were no longer the normal tears; instead, they were blood-red tears.

The heart of almost everybody, Rebecca included, trembled.

“This…” Some people swallowed hard.

“For someone to sob blood tears, this…”

“How could a person sob blood? What sort of experience could they have gone through, a young one who isn’t even twenty yet at that?”

A trace of pity finally appeared in the eyes of many for Mark, and they felt like helping him.

However, Gab became deeply infuriated when he saw all this, making Rebecca’s mother, who had been paying attention to him instantly notice, making her nervous.

She discreetly pinched her daughter.

“This is what you deserve, scoundrel. Is it still blood you are crying? Hahaha. How dare you lay your filthy hand on my future son-in-law?”

“That’s right.” The traces of pity in Rebecca also disappeared as she realized that she had almost made her new cash cow dissatisfied. “If anybody must be blamed, it is you. You said I was cheating on you when I have never even dated you before, and you even dared to lay your hand on my man, thinking he was a nobody like you.”

“This…”

Everybody was stumped.

‘She has never dated him before?’ They couldn’t think, recollecting the lovey-dovey couple they once knew who would never part from each other.

A moment later, everybody understood what was going on, and nobody blamed Rebecca.

It was the hope of everybody living in the slum to encounter a wealthy person who would elevate their financial position and status, and now that Rebecca had snagged a lucky person who wasn’t just slightly wealthy but incredibly wealthy, they all felt that they would do the same as her and deny someone like Mark who had nothing without any hesitation.

‘You should have focused on how to get out of this slum instead of being in love.’ The few ones with human emotion in the crowd sighed after a while.

Although they pity Mark, the slum is a place where the wealthy ones are placed high and treated like gods, so they all soon ignore Mark and resume flattering the young man, Gab.

“That’s what he deserves…”

“The scoundrel…”

Mark’s pale and dried lips trembled. His blood tears increased, and he finally ignored everybody when he realized that they wouldn’t help him, then after a lot of effort, he eventually carried his mother on his back and his sister in a bridal position in his arms.

Done after multiple pains compared to the one he got while he was getting beaten in the police station, Mark finally forces himself to stagger forward, with each step causing blood to ooze out of the countless wounds on his body.

Looking at him like this, the fragile-hearted ones in the crowd finally weren’t able to hold it again.

They sobbed.

Some even tried rushing to Mark to help him, but they were furiously stopped by their family, getting infuriated that they were trying to put them in trouble like Mark had done to his mother and sister.

As for Mark, while he was passing through Rebecca and her accomplice, he swore in his mind, swearing to make them pay even if he were only left with just a single life.

The heart of the trio trembled slightly, but then they became furious again.

“Scoundrel! You still want more?” Gab glared at Mark.
