Papers signed

"You cannot request a divorce from me! I am holding that right, Michael." Elizabeth remarked as she attempted to enter the locked guest room.

"Michael, open this door!" she screamed as she became frustrated that Michael had been courageous. It scared her.

"Okay! Could we please resolve this, Michael? "Please, let us work things out, my love," she attempted to persuade him with the same words she usually did.

She always used those words to make Michael feel even more embarrassed when she was trying to persuade him.

Like it had succeeded... She heard from her side his movements and he opened the door.

Her facial expression turned into a smirk, but it was stopped when a paper was given to her and Michael packed his bag.

"What is this?" she asked, refusing to take hold of the paper.

"Divorce papers" Michael said as he gave her the papers, trying so much for her to touch the papers.

Mrs. Anderson crossed her arms and said, "My daughter will not take those papers from you. In case you have forgotten, we own you and my daughter is the only person to serve you with divorce papers."

"You think it was right that your daughter cheated on me and I had to see it?" he asked and, at least for the first time in the past two days of his confidential stamina his face looked hurt.

Elizabeth somehow felt she had to apologize, but from her mother's facial expression she knew she shouldn't dare.

Most times she felt she had to treat Michael well, but his lack of financial stability was the only thing that made her retreat from being that nice to him.

"She was trying to bring in the money you didn't bring when you married her" Mrs Anderson, struck.

"Then these papers, if signed, will give her the freedom to bring the stability you are looking for, Elizabeth, trust me, I have forgiven you for what I encountered" he said with a smile on his face, as if he didn't want to show how hurt he was.

Right now would have been the time that she enjoyed the financial system he found himself in.

The amount of money he found he had been something he would have splashed on her and his mother-in-law.

But she betrayed him!!

"Where are you going to? And where would you stay?" Elizabeth asked, knowing well he didn't have friends or anyone he would stay with could, plus she knew even if he saved money from his small jobs he would somehow be stopped because his finances would be limited.

"That's none of your business, okay, just take these papers and sign them. I want to give you the happiness you have always wanted."

Seeing she wasn't taking the papers, he made a walk down the stairs and placed the papers on the table.

"As you leave the door you shouldn't return" Mrs Anderson said as a threat.

"Of course don't worry, you won't see me here unless I have forgotten something of mine and I have to get it" he said as he went out the big door.

Heading outside, he felt a breath of freedom and peace. He was going to his mansion and today was a Saturday, and he had to prepare himself for Monday .

John had informed him Kevin was to come sign a big contract with Micheal's company, so the reveal was going to be a huge one.

He took a walk of 100 meters and entered the car that was waiting for him at the bend to take him to his house.

"We have to make this reveal big" John said as his boss entered the car.

"Yes we need to let everyone know my father's lineage still continues," Mike said, as his mind, revered and deep down, just wanted to know what was going to happen when the big news flashed on the televisions and what his wife would think or say.

After he left the house, somehow Mrs Anderson and Elizabeth felt he would come back feeling bad for what he had done and would apologize, but after waiting a whole ten minutes and Mike didn't return, Elizabeth turned to her mother. "You think we treated him right?" she asked.

"He should be happy he lived in a grand house like this and was even considered a worker, although he was a son-in-law" she said, trying to justify things.

"But don't you think we made him feel less of a man? Remember mother, I loved him. That's why I accepted to marry him when you brought him around from your so-called trip and I thought we could live together" she said.

"You shut up Eliza, we love money and stability, not a human who can't get you a cartier. Your father was rich, the reason why you live in this house and have all the riches you have now, so you should continue that", her mom shouted at her.

"But mother..." she began to talk but was stopped.

"You will push that thought, and you won't think about those divorce papers because you will sign them right now. I need you to get married to Kevin before the year passes, okay? That way, we gain more things and your life will be so much better with the riches that are coming" she said, as she took a pen and gave her daughter.

"Mum, I'll read the divorce papers before signing" Elizabeth chimed, but her mother wouldn't let her.

"Sign the papers, there's nothing he has to offer you, plus this is a gateway to freedom. Just do that, okay?"

Slowly she took the pen and signed the papers as slowly as she could. At first, when they treated Mike badly, it was good to have a man submit to her, but right now she somehow felt she had let go of the man who understood some sides of her.

"Ahh!!! Elizabeth stop, he's gone, and now you'll get your time with Kevin, and he will take care of you". she said to herself as she entered her bedroom.

She took her phone and tried calling Kevin, but her calls went to voicemail.

"Maybe he is busy. I'll just take a bath and rest. Today has been a lot" she said as she undressed and went to the bathroom.
