Chapter 9

Hearing Fiona's words, Samuel gave his reasons quickly. He knew that Fiona would ask something like this. "He is someone who is very close to me."

Fiona frowned, she even remembered that Samuel had never talked to her about this before. "Is that true? But you never told me anything."

Samuel nodded his head. He answered calmly. "He owes me his life, and that's why he gave me this position."

Fiona raised one eyebrow. She seemed to doubt Samuel's explanation. "Isn't this too much, Samuel?"

Samuel could see the doubt in Fiona's eyes. He knew that this could not be easily believed. But it was a fact that could not be avoided.

Samuel put one hand on Fiona's shoulder. He tried to convince his wife. "Don't worry, my friend is a really good man. And I can do all this work."

He wanted to show Fiona that he was a husband she could rely on.

But Fiona couldn't lie to herself that all of Samuel's words were really doubtful. She had worked for several years, and someone would not easily entrust their company to a stranger, even though the man had helped them.

Instantly, a bad thought crossed her mind. Anxiety enveloped her heart. She held Samuel's hand tightly. "Samuel, have you checked it properly?"

Lately, Fiona had often read bad news about fraud. She just didn't want her husband to experience the same thing.

Her eyes were full of worry, holding Samuel's hand even tighter. "Samuel, I just don't want you to be a scapegoat and get you into bad trouble."

Fiona bit her lower lip. "They could cheat you and you could go to jail."

Saying that made Fiona even more afraid. She hoped that Samuel was not easy to trust.

It was very doubtful, a manual worker with no experience whatsoever, getting a position so easily. And that thought was not easy for Fiona to accept. “Samuel, there are a lot of money laundering cases these days, and I don’t want them to get you into trouble.”

Samuel understood his wife’s worries. He also held Fiona’s hand gently. “Fiona, calm down. Everything will be fine. You don’t have to worry about anything.”

Fiona sighed. This time she nodded and had faith in her husband. After talking about it, Samuel and Fiona walked together.

Adam watched from a distance, the man walked over and immediately greeted Fiona when they faced each other. “Hello Miss Fiona, I am Adam and I will be Mr. Samuel’s secretary.”

“Actually, I am Mr. Justin’s secretary. But starting today, I will be working with Mr. Samuel.” Adam introduced himself, greeted by Fiona’s outstretched hand.

The woman smiled and nodded her head. “I am Fiona. And nice to meet you, Mr. Adam.”

Fiona looked at Adam carefully. “Why did Mr. Justin give this position to my husband?”

Fiona glanced at Samuel briefly, then she looked back at Adam seriously. “Isn’t this too much?”

Adam shook his head with a smile. “Of course not.”

“Actually, Mr. Justin owes his life to Mr. Samuel. And that’s why he gave his position to Mr. Samuel.” Adam explained it slowly. Knowing that this would not be easy to accept. “Moreover, Mr. Justin is currently sick. And he can’t do his job anymore. He entrusts everything to Mr. Samuel.”

After knowing that their answers were the same, Fiona really believed them. Although in her feelings there was still anxiety about her husband.

Currently, Fiona and Samuel had walked home. But when they passed a supermarket, Samuel stopped the car. “Fiona, I have to go inside. Do you want to come with me?”

Fiona frowned. “Do you need something?”

“Yes, I have to buy groceries.” Samuel explained. When he was about to go inside, Fiona stopped him.

Fiona raised an eyebrow. “Samuel, are you going to cook after you get home from work? It’s so tiring.”

Samuel smiled and nodded his head “it’s no problem, I can prepare food for them after this.”

Fiona didn’t agree with that. She knew that this was a tiring day for her husband. And she realized that all this time, her family had been making things difficult for Samuel.

Fiona sighed. Her heart was filled with guilt. “Samuel, you don’t have to bother yourself.”

“You shouldn’t have to obey all of mother’s wishes and orders too much.” Fiona held his hand tightly.

Samuel didn’t agree with that. This was his first day at work. He thought of something. “Fiona, at least there should be a celebration today.”

Fiona understood, until finally they decided to go home and invite her mother and younger brother to have dinner together outside.

When they had arrived, Fiona decided to go down and give the news to her mother and younger brother.

Of course this made her mother very happy. "Is it true that we will have dinner together?"

Darell who was there became very enthusiastic. "Really? Can we eat at Harrods restaurant. That would be a great dinner."

"Everyone has been talking about dinner there, I really want it." Darell shook Fiona's body impatiently to leave.

Fiona just nodded her head, agreeing to Darell's request at this time. Besides, this was a great day for her husband. It didn't matter if today they would have dinner in a luxurious place.

After a while, her mother and Darell had returned. And when they were about to get into the car, they were quite surprised when they saw Samuel in it. "Why is he here?"

"He will only disturb our fun." Emma spoke sarcastically. “Come on, just push him out of the car. Just leave him.”
