The detective's sobs filled the small, his eyes were widened, his mouth were open and words refused to come out from it.

More tears started streaming down his face, mixing with the cold sweat that dripped from his brow.

His entire body shook with fear and desperation as he knelt again on the floor, begging for his life.

Jason watched him quietly, his expression still unreadable.

His face was calm, almost eerily so, as he observed the detective's breakdown. That was what he wanted so next time would teach her to do his job properly.

After a moment, Jason leaned forward slightly, his voice low but clear.

“Call Jade’s family”

he said.

“Tell them to come to the station. If they can make it here within the next five minutes, I will leave.”

immediately the detective's eyes widened with a glimmer of hope even though he knew five minutes is not that much but there is hope. without wasting anymore time he scrambled to his feet, his hands still trembling as he reached for his phone.
