CHAPTER 87

The room fell into a heavy silence as the Mayor's presence sent shockwaves through everyone standing in the interrogation room. The detective’s face drained of all color immediately he saw the mayor he knew something was wrong, his legs felt like they would give out any moment.

He had already soaked his pants in fear, and now, with the Mayor standing before him, it was as if the ground beneath him had vanished.

Jason remained calm; he didn't move a muscle, his eyes steady and unfazed by the sudden appearance of the Mayor.

Everyone else, however, was visibly shaken. Jade’s family, who had been so confident moments before, now looked as if they had seen a ghost; they couldn't believe the mayor would come here in person.
