upon hearing what the detective just said Jade’s family stood in stunned silence, their faces pale and drawn. They couldn’t believe what was happening. The jail term for fabricating and selling fake paintings had been set at fifty years. Jade’s father at that moment opened his mouth, his voice trembling with shock he knew because the mayor was involved that must be the reason he said so, he demanded an explanation.

“Why is the sentence so high you

I think I don't know the law”

he said, his eyes still wide with disbelief.

“This isn’t fair! You can’t do this to us! it's fair”

But instead of an answer, all he got was the cold click of handcuffs snapping around his wrists.

The federal police moved in swiftly, cuffing Jade’s mother, his father and jade as well.

At that moment Panic set in, their faces filled with a mixture of fear and confusion they did even notice when the federal police came in. Jade’s mother whimpered, her hands shaking as she tried to process what was happening.
