10. As a Leader

“So, what should we do?” Viona asked in a scared tone.

Leon was already sitting on the chair facing Sean. The man’s gaze was fixed on the table with both hands intertwined.

“Shall we go back?” Viona spoke again.

“Let’s go back. It’s too scary here. To hell with the key or whatever. I don’t want to be here,” Gio said while looking in all directions in the room.

However, there was no response from Leon or even Sean who preferred to remain silent, ignoring both of them.

“Honestly,” Sean said suddenly making everyone’s gaze focused on him including Leon. “What power did you get?” Sean asked who this time looked at them one by one. “It will make it easier for us to understand each other, at least.”

They looked at each other for a while.

“My talent is a guide map, I got a compass which means I am a guide. My total points are 7000, and my weapon is a sword with a white aura and close-range attack ability, and my element is wind,” Sean said explaining his own. “What about you?” Sean looked at Gio.

“I got 3000 points overall with brown aura and earth element. My ability is food provider and information seeker. The weapon I got is a spear that attacks from medium to close range,” Gio explained.

“Okay. How about you, Viona?” Sean asked the girl.

“My total points are 5000. I am an information seeker, just like Gio who is also a food provider or something. My aura is green with wind elements. The weapon I got is a sword that attacks from close range,” Viona answered.

Sean nodded his head and then looked at Leon followed by Gio and Viona waiting for what Leon would say.

But Leon remained silent, looking at them in turn.

“Why are you silent, Le?” Gio couldn’t wait for Leon to speak.

Leon took a deep breath. “My total points are 10,000. My aura is blue, water element,” Leon answered but then the boy stopped talking because he was confused about how to say it.

“What’s wrong?” Sean asked realizing Leon’s confusion.

Leon once again looked at them who were also staring at him. “I, my weapons are swords and archery, as you know my sword has no blade, so it probably won’t work. My position is as a leader. My power… is unknown.” Leon explained with a little hesitation. The power and abilities Leon had obtained didn’t seem to convince him of his position.

They fell silent again, including Sean.

“Your power is unknown?” Sean asked then. Leon nodded. “How is that possible?” This time Leon shook his head.

“I don’t know either. I thought about it all the way but didn’t get any answer at all. The system I have also didn’t give any answers, it just said that the system doesn’t know,” Leon finally explained.

“That’s strange,” Gio said. “Your talent, is to be a leader?” the boy continued.

Leon nodded his head. “I don’t understand that,” he admitted.

“What don’t you understand?” Sean asked. “Isn’t it obvious why you became a leader?”

Their gazes returned to Sean.

“I’m not surprised you’re a leader. Because when there was a storm in the world, in our school. You were the only one who led us to a point of light that I didn’t even know what it was. But you directed it as if it was something important. The light dimmed and a portal opened as soon as you grabbed all of our hands,” Sean explained, reminding them of how the portal ended up there in the first place.

“That’s right,” Gio chimed in. “You said you heard a sound, right, Le?” Gio looked at his friend who nodded his head. “I guess there must be a reason for that. No one hears a sound, right?” Gio looked at Sean and Viona in turn.

The girl nodded her head. “Yes. “I didn’t hear any sound either,” the girl replied. “I panicked at that time, and when I saw something move, I screamed. There was no sound other than the sound of the storm. I didn’t hear anything either,” Sean admitted as their eyes turned to him.

They were silent for a while.

“Alright. Let’s just arrange it. We make a plan,” Sean said. “The rule given by the system is, to get the key to be able to return. And to get the key, we have to complete the given mission and collect stars. Our final destination is King Blackyn’s Palace…”

“Are you crazy?” Gio interrupted. “King Blackyn’s Palace? It must be very dark,” he said, shivering in fear.

“I mean, our final destination is to Control the Blue Light,” Sean corrected.

“To get to the tower we have to go through a lot,” Leon said again. His voice was calm but his brow was deeply furrowed.

“That’s right. You’re the one who will lead us,” Sean said firmly. “As the Old Man said, you’re the center of all the reasons we’re here, that’s why you’re the leader. However, we need cooperation for that so that we can get to the tower together,” Sean said then.

But Leon was silent for a long time as if he was thinking about something.

“That,” all eyes were back on Leon. “I don’t think that’s necessary,” he said. They didn’t understand. “About the cooperation. I will do it. There might be many dangers lurking on the way, and you might get hurt too, like Zenata.” Leon’s eyes glanced at the girl who was still lying down.

No one spoke, letting Leon finish his sentence but they felt uneasy.

“I will go alone. You just need to wait here. I will talk to Azlan so he can take care of you,” Leon continued.

Sean snorted at what Leon said. Leon stared at him.

“So you mean, you will go to the tower alone?” Sean asked.

Leon nodded. “I have thought about it.”

“Then, your thinking is wrong, Leon!” Sean raised his voice, his gaze sharply fixed on Leon. “Didn’t you hear what I said earlier? There is no way you can go alone. Do you want us to be safe? No. Leaving us here is the same as sacrificing yourself. That is impossible.”

“Sean is right, Leon. There is no way you can go alone,” Viona added, also feeling reluctant.

“Ya. Lagipula, bisakah kau menangani apa yang mungkin terjadi? Tidak. Kekuatanmu tidak diketahui, bahkan pedangmu tidak memiliki kekuatan. Bagaimana kau bisa pergi sendiri? Tidak. Aku tidak akan membiarkanmu.” Gio menambahkan. “Jika kau pergi sendiri, bagaimana dengan hubungan kita? Tidakkah kau menganggapku sebagai temanmu?”

“Bukan seperti itu. Aku—”

"Kami tidak peduli dengan apa pun. Yang kami tahu adalah jika kami di sini karena kalian, itu artinya kami adalah pembantu kalian. Apa pun keputusan kalian, kalian tidak akan bisa pergi sendiri," Sean menegaskan sekali lagi.

“Sean benar, Le. Aku tidak akan membiarkanmu pergi sendirian. Tidak akan pernah.” Gio memutuskan.

“Aku juga ikut, Zenata juga,” kata Viona yang kini mengarahkan pandangannya ke gadis yang masih terbaring tak sadarkan diri. “Aku merasa ada sesuatu yang dimiliki Zenata yang tidak dimiliki oleh kita berempat,” lanjut Viona sambil kembali mengalihkan pandangannya ke tiga lelaki itu. “Jadi, mari kita bergerak bersama-sama, tidak sendiri. Kita datang sebagai satu tim.”

Gio menganggukkan kepalanya. “Ya. Aku setuju dengan apa yang dikatakan Viona. Jika kalian membuat keputusan sendiri, berhati-hatilah!”

Leon terdiam lagi mendengar ucapan teman-temannya. Pertama-tama Leon menatap Sean, Gio, Viona, lalu Zenata. Leon adalah seorang pemimpin yang berhak mengambil keputusan. Ia tidak ingin ada yang terluka lagi, itu sebabnya ia mengatakan apa yang ada dalam pikirannya. Namun, melihat reaksi mereka, Leon tahu bahwa ia tidak bisa melakukannya sendiri.
