The Prodigious Ex-Husband

Vera was feeling both anxious and excited at the same time while she was at the party. Beverly Cox, the brilliant businesswoman who is behind the success of the Cox Group, has been a long time inspiration for her. despite the fact that she was never afforded the chance to get to know her on a personal level.

She had been waiting for what felt like an interminable amount of time, and the day she was finally going to meet her had finally arrived.This factor was a direct contributor to her inability to keep her anxiety under control.

Vera was unable to recognize her at the initial meeting they had earlier, which took place at the front entrance of the building.

 Therefore, she was unaware that she had already spoken with her.

It just so happens that Vera's phone is going off at that precise moment.

She smiled as she answered the phone and greeted the person on the other end of the line, who introduced themselves as President Connolly.I was just about to pick up the phone and give you a  call—"

At first, she acknowledged it with a pleasant smile, but then all of a sudden, she stood up. 

As she listened, her once-comfortable smile transformed into a look of panic, and she was unable to rein in the surge of adrenaline that was occurring in her body.

“I wanted to call and let you know that the contracts will be sent to you as soon as possible, but I'm sorry to tell you that this will be the last time that our company works with yours. I”from this point forward, we will not be providing any further information concerning the aforementioned matter.”

 “What? You are not permitted to treat me in such a manner at any time, Mr. Connolly.I ask that you listen carefully to what I have to say and that you please grant me one more chance—"

Ding! Ding! Ding!

Vera was left bewildered after Zack Connolly abruptly ended the call without giving any consideration to the requests that she had made.

Vera had reached the point where she could no longer take it.She was so furious that she couldn't stop balling up her fists into tight fistballs despite her best efforts.

In spite of this, she went to great lengths to conceal it so that she could keep her dignity in front of the other people who were attending the party.

 During this time, Alex Shawn was paying attention to her facial expressions, and he asked, "What's wrong? Did something bad happen? Why do you appear to have lost so much color all of a sudden?

“It has been decided that Mr. Connolly will have no further interactions with our Trust Cape as a result of this decision.He explained that this will be the last time we work together on anything.Where did we go wrong?" Vera's eyes blinked rapidly due to her mounting anxiety.

Alex spoke soothing words to her while he held her hands and told her, "Don't worry about it anymore.If we were to be able to collaborate with the Cox family and establish a working relationship with them, we could eliminate the need to rely on Mr. Connolly in the future for assistance. Instead of working toward that objective, let's focus our efforts on negotiating a deal with the Cox Group.” 

Vera acknowledged him with a resounding nod and let out an exhalation as he smiled warmly at her to reassure her.

On the other hand, after aimlessly wandering around the location for a few seconds, Jaden unexpectedly lost the zeal  to continue with the party that they were attending.

As a direct consequence of that, he came to the conclusion that it would be best for him to withdraw his presence and leave the party.

"Beverly, I'm sorry but I have to leave; I still have a lot of business to take care of.We'll get together at a time that's more agreeable to both of our schedules." After making the announcement, Jaden walked over to Beverly to give her his attention.

It was decided that Beverly would be brought back.

"No, you can't do that, Jaden, the evening is still young and we still need to meet a lot of clients, please stay a little bit longer!Would you kindly remain here for a little while longer?" 

Beverly reached out and encircled his arms while making a begging gesture and narrowing her eyes.

Jaden disengaged his arms in a gentle manner.

"I sincerely apologize for this, but I will have to leave right away because I don't have any other option.I promise to do everything in my power to make amends to you.”

After putting on a phony smile, Jaden quickly turned and left the room without waiting for a response to the argument he had just made.

When Beverly's eyes wandered over to Vera from a distance, she immediately had a flashback to the previous event, and she immediately came to the conclusion that Vera was the cause of Jaden's anger. 

Beverly immediately came to the conclusion that Vera was the cause of Jaden's anger because Jaden was angry at Vera.

She gave an irritated signal to her assistant and then continued working.

"Ms. Cox, do you need anything at this time?" Jane Lubbock, who works as Beverly’s assistant, is the one who posed the question.

"I would appreciate it if you could send me a list of the potential business partners that we decided on earlier.There should be no giving up on anything at all!”

During the delivery of the order, Beverly gritted her teeth and maintained a focus on Vera in her peripheral vision. "Vera Rae," she said.

Jane Lubbock reached her hand into the stack of papers she was holding and pulled out a piece of paper, which she then handed off to Beverly. This took place in what seemed like a split second.

While Beverly was quickly going through the files, she made the initial discovery of Trust Cape. Jane didn't waste any time and handed her the pen the moment she reached for one.

After that, she took the pen and crossed Trust Cape out of the list of companies that were eligible to apply for the position.When that was over,she  handed it over to Jane Lubbock.

 Before she turned and walked away, Beverly flashed a sly grin at the audience.

Away from the main action of the party,

When Jaden left the party hall, it wasn't long before he ran into Alex Shawn, the man who had been talking to Vera earlier. Jaden immediately recognized Alex as the person.

As soon as Alex Shawn saw him, he started laughing uncontrollably and making fun of him. He did this as soon as he saw him.

While Alex ridiculed Jaden in front of Vera, she did not move from her position next to her boyfriend.

"Oh, look at you, you unfortunate creature!Are you attempting to sneak into the party in the dead of night? To put your brazen and audacious behavior into perspective, I simply cannot believe it.”

Jaden was propelled in the opposite direction by Alex Shawn's push.

Then he turned to Vera and said, "Vera, my dear, you must have suffered greatly after being married to a poor dog for a long time, I won't let you suffer anymore!"

Vera lost her ability to communicate and did not respond in any way.

Alex had earlier noticed that Jaden and Beverly had been absent for a considerable amount of time, and as a result, he deduced that they were skulking around and attempting to gain entry to the party without being invited. 

He reasoned that it would be a good opportunity to demonstrate to Jaden who was in charge while also giving Vera a positive first impression of himself.

Vera believed that it was inappropriate to bring up Jaden's name or to discuss the fact that they were connected in any way. She also felt that it was inappropriate to discuss how they were connected.

 It was easy to feel her disgust.

"Ladies and gentlemen, the time has come for me to make an announcement about the potential partners with whom our team will be working together in the future.The fact of the matter is that each individual company was notable and prestigious; however, as you are all aware, we are unable to work together with each and every one of them.If you tried to add your name to the list but were unsuccessful this time, please accept my deepest apologies . In the not-too-distant future, I really hope that we will be able to work together on something.” Jane Lubbock went into a great deal of detail regarding her explanations.

 The party eventually came to a halt as the attendees, all of whom were holding their breath in anticipation of the major announcement, waited in silence.

 "Blue Ridge Group!, White Group!, and BBC Group!," shouted Jane Lubbock .

As soon as the announcement was made, the room erupted into a raucous round of applause, and people immediately began congratulating one another by shaking hands.

However, there was one person who was unable to take part in the raucous celebration because at that precise moment, she experienced a moment of confusion and was rendered unable to participate.

Vera's face turned white as she realized that no one was able to hear her calling out her name.

 On the list, her name did not appear at all.How on earth is something like that even a remote possibility!
