Chapter 8

As soon as the Manager left the table where Tristan and his friends were, Jaxon, who Charles' kick had knocked down, got up.

He was about to leave because the Manager had ordered him to go to Manager's room, but before he could take a step, the unsatisfied Tristan said with a contemptuous smile, "Remember Jaxon! It is not over yet; you will still face many difficult things in the future."

Jaxon did not respond; he knew that if he responded to Tristan's words and continued to linger there, the problem would worsen, so Jaxon decided to leave immediately.

Arriving at the door of Manager's office, Jaxon immediately knocked on the door, and soon a voice from inside invited him to enter.

Jaxon pushed the door, swinging his steps into the room; when he reached the front of Manager's desk, he saw that the Manager was looking at him with a look that was hard to interpret.

Manager Logan stood up from his chair, walked over to Jaxon and said, "Jaxon, what are you doing? Are you unable to work properly? I allowed you to work in this restaurant to earn extra income; although it's not too much, it's more than enough to accommodate your daily needs. However, I didn't say that your salary would be able to cover your tuition fees, but at least you can save a little. Still, you disappointed me; you couldn't work well and wasted the opportunity I gave you. Do you know that many underprivileged students come to this restaurant daily to apply as part-time workers? You disappoint me a lot Jaxon."

At this time, Jaxon could only look down, squeezing the hem of his shirt without looking at the Manager who was reprimanding him. Still, after waiting a while after the Manager did not continue his words, Jaxon also ventured to say, "Previously, I apologise to the manager; maybe you have judged that I am not good at work; maybe you think that I am not good at work, not good at serving guests, maybe you also think that I have disappointed you, but here I want to say that what happened is not what you imagine, while working all afternoon I never made the slightest mistake, everything was going well before Tristan, and his friends came to this restaurant."

Hearing Jaxon's words, Manager Logan frowned and asked, "Tristan? Did you say Tristan earlier? Is that person named Tristan the guest you had trouble with?"

Jaxon nodded in confirmation of Manager Logan's question. The man asked again, "Then do you know them?"

Once again, Jaxon nodded, but this time he added, "That's right, Mr Manager, I know them; they and I are both students at Wisdom University; he is the one who always dominates on campus, actually between him and me never had a dispute, but only because of the low status and class I have made many students there really dislike me, Tristan is one of the many students who hate poor people like me, for them, the poor may be like a disease that must be exterminated, I also believe that their arrival at this restaurant is not just to eat, but to disturb me, trying to make me lose my job."

Jaxon said again while still looking down, "You can believe it or not, but I will say that I did not do anything wrong; everything happened when I brought the drinks ordered by them, but before I got to the table to serve the drinks they ordered, Charles had first stuck out his foot to trip my steps, I was not expecting it, could not control my balance and fell on the table, the next thing you see."

Hearing the story from Jaxon, Logan now understands the problem that happened, this makes him very sympathetic to Jaxon, but he can't do anything to help him because if he defends Jaxon and re-employs him at this restaurant, then Tristan, who has felt wronged will report all of this to his superiors, if this happens then not only can't help Jaxon, but he will lose his job.

Deep down, he condemned the actions of the rich, who looked at poor people like Jaxon as worthless rubbish; this was inhumane.

Manager Logan patted Jaxon on the shoulder and said, "I'm sorry, Jaxon; in this case, I can't do much to help you."

After that, he took the envelope and gave it to Jaxon, then said, "Take this money, use it as best as you can and try to find a job elsewhere; this is all I can do to lighten your burden a little, I hope you don't blame me because, after all, I am just a lowly manager, there are too many bosses I will face if I make the slightest mistake in disciplining the servants under my control."

Jaxon hurriedly shook his head as he said, "You have been quite good to me; how could I blame you? Even in my heart, I dare not say that I am disappointed in you; on the contrary, I am very, very grateful to you; this is too much for me, so I dare not accept it," Jaxon said as he held out the envelope he received back to Manager Logan.

Logan subtly pushed back Jaxon's hand with an open palm, then said, "That's for you; that's the only favour I can give you, so don't refuse, but for now, I regretfully say that from tomorrow onwards, you can no longer work at this restaurant. However, I must keep my promise to Tristan; if anyone asks you about what I did, say that I have severely punished you and fired you without a penny of salary, do you understand?"

Jaxon hurriedly nodded and said, "I understand, sir; I will say as you wish."

Manager Logan smiled with satisfaction and said, "Well then, you may leave now; I hope you find another more suitable job soon."

Hearing Manager Logan prays for him moved Jaxon a bit; he could feel the warmth in his heart.

Jaxon nodded and said, "Alright, Mr Manager, I'll excuse myself then."

Manager Logan nodded and invited Jaxon to leave his office. Jaxon turned his body towards the door and disappeared from Manager Logan's sight.

After Jaxon was entirely out of sight, Manager Logan shook his head, took a breath and said, "It's a pity; this kid is a good kid, but I can't do anything to help him at all."
