“You see no one truly knows where he originated from, some say he was a fallen noble, others say he was a pointblank commoner who led a VERY shitty life
But who even care about that, the only thing ‘I’ care about, is THE money aspect of his life.
He was the leader of an outlaw ring, a very notorious ring, one which was well-known for looting itinerants on wayside, abducting women and children and selling them off as slaves.
He was already quite wealthy with what he earned on their day-to-day operations, but he was a rather covetous fellow who wanted more.
So he devised and orchestrated a plan, a heist of a sort, one which he and his ring had to sneak into the empire, and through a myriad of guises and shapeshifting, the were able to get to the colossal palace where the emperor resided.
After two years of meticulous preparations, they finally stormed the palace. They took advantage of the confusion in the capital, and through the rather enfeebled defensive measures, they got into the treasury with ease.
But that was when they discovered the cold hard truth, they had been set up. The porosity of the security safeguarding the treasury was lessened deliberately, a seamless plan the Royal knight’s commander had devised to put an end to Oden.
And this was only feasible due of the existence of a mole in their ranks. On this finding, Oden went into a frenzy and actuated a forbidden spell no one predictable.
With that spell he absconded with half of the treasury, leaving no trace to trail. But unfortunately FOR HIM, he used up all his lifespan and even had mana pool combustion, leaving him with little time to live
With that in mind, he produced several false maps leading to dead-ends, more than a hundred thousand of them.
Then he spread them around the empire.
Since then, no one was able to find the treasure, and with the passage of time, it turned into a forgotten meth”
“So… this map is ONE, out of the HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of SIMILAR MAPS, in the empire!?” Leo inquired, frankly pissed by his wasted time.
*Huff* I wouldn’t be having this conversation with this fatness, if my map hadn’t been stolen
And even now, I still can’t believe it occurred
On that very day, due to my body being all sweaty and sticky, I decided to cool off in the nice glistering chill spring I spotted on my way, and also take a quick nap.
Just a quick nap and nothing more, a nap which didn’t even take up to a minute
But waking up, my only map gone!
“This isn’t JUST any of those, it’s THE map”
“And how are you sure?”
*Exhales*
“In all my eons as a merchant, I have crossways with a plethora of this maps.
Back then, I even hired mercenaries to survey the location on many.
Hoping to find something at least
But never, never did I get that lucky
Well, not till a month ago…”
“what happened?” The young man asked, suddenly enthralled.
“I sent out a group of mercenaries with this same type of map, but, they never came back!” He exclaimed with overwhelming excitement, transitioning his facial expressions so swiftly, leaving me dumfounded.
‘Oh no, this fatness seems a tad bit crazy’
“Why exactly are you happy?”
“Don’t you get it? THEY NEVER AGAIN RETURNED! That means they didn’t hit a dead end this time, and well, most likely died”
*Sighs*
“What if the just left without taking on the mission in the first place, what if you got duped?”
“Haa… There is no way that’s likely, if there is one thing I know about mercenaries, it’s that the never forget their balance”
“So in conclusion, you want ME to undertake THIS suicidal mission?”
“… It’s your choice okay? But if you do decide to survey the location and report back to me, you won’t have to pay for this well detailed map”
“……”
“I mean it’s a reasonable d…. Hold on!”
“what?”
“That ring, if you hand me that, then you can take the map without paying” Gawking at the ring on the young man’s middle finger, an unsightly grin etched on his face.
Though the bewildering look on the fat man’s face was repressed, Leo could already smell a foul play, and he frowned his brows slightly.
“There is no need for that, I will take the mission” He said, appearing rather resolute.
I can just take all the treasures for myself, then return with a gold coin for him, haa… my generosity sometimes scares me.
“….” On getting his reply, the obese man couldn’t hold back his displeasure from projecting on his face. “Fine” He added.

As it turns out, taking on this mission was the worse decision Leo had ever made.
With his bad sense of direction, he couldn’t even retrace his steps back to the merchant’s place, and that wasn’t even the worst of his worries.
It was food!
He couldn’t find food, whether it be a normal animal, a beast, or even a monster.
What the heck happened to all the all the animals! Was the only thought that kept tormenting me for the past five days now. Even those werewolves which were typically EVERYWHERE, where now nowhere to be found.
I mean you could literally find them hiding under rocks and boulders, or occasionally you could wake up and find a werewolf trying to chew off your leg.
But now, nothing.
Though the forest is still swathed in an intense sun bath, and the wind still recurrently grace the leaves and even the green blades of grasses, I now couldn’t care less.
If this keeps up, then I might as well meet those mercenaries in a day or two.
…..
Sat beneath a huge shade of branches, was a young man wailing piercingly, disturbing the serene atmosphere. There was no longer a way out, the whole forest seemed the same, like he was in a loop of some sort.
No matter what path he took, he always ended back at this tree which had a lot of intricate carves coated on it, and he had no more strength left.
As they say, a hungry man is an angry man, but wait, what if the angry man kept on starving until his hunger, transcends the realm of normalcy, what then would the man be…?
Yes, that was the dilemma Leo found himself in.
…..
It felt weird that he still couldn’t succumb to the warm embrace of death even after so long.
Instead, he felt in full force, the cool sensation of hunger.
HOW LONG!!!
How long do I have to keep enduring this dreadful pain, I feel like something is churning my innards, I can’t take it anymore!
I even tried summoning a mana beast for food, but I just couldn’t. it seems like am really destined to perish here.
“….”
Wait, what if…
Compelling his torpid limbs to standing, he extended his arm and smeared the intricate carvings on the trunk, as an idea suddenly came to mind.
He then closed his eyes whilst he emptied his mana pool into the tree. In a split second, something bizarre occurred.
The entire forest suddenly transmogrified into night time, and the huge tree was no longer present, instead, there stood a mighty soaring cave at least a thousand feet tall, and it gave off an aura that could scare even the hungriest of orc’s away.
Deluded by his own hunger, he saw an illusion of food right inside the cave.
But…
in a way, it wasn’t just delusion.
In fact, there was ample food to satisfy a horde in there. But the problem still remained, that HE, was also food.
The terrane was visibly that of a dungeon, dark slick and slippery cave-like walls, and an ever bone chilling growl which never seem to have a source. With every step he took, the distance further shortened, with potential death just looming by the corner. Well, not that he cared too, that is. Hunger, which originally made him a wailing mess, was now his juggernaut drive, making even the continuous scary growl sound like a melody from his potential dinner. And he didn’t even have to search long, cause the dinner came on its own. Leo’s eyes lit up and a dangerous glint flashed on them, as he stared at the flaming bear in front of him. Flaming bears were humongous beast which possessed absurd strength, they had sharp merlot red eyes and an extraordinarily shape fangs. Their cock-like hair were flaming as their name, and it spanned from its cranium down to their tail bone region. Darting its gaze to Leo, it raised its red sharp fear-inducing claws and an orange-red hue encased it.
On reaching the palace there was a terrible earthquake; the quake was so severe that no one was left standing,As it ended, arson quickly got up and ran to the palace guard who was also affected by the quake,After speaking with the guard for a while, he was allowed to proceed further into the palace; he then dashed in without a second thought. On his arrival, he met the king in a rather foul mood as he was still in a meeting. The king seeing him immediately instructed a guard to take him to the dungeon, to be punished for not seeking proper permission before coming in, but then, he cried out informing the king of his reason. On hearing this, the king raised his hands signaling the guard to retreat, he then asked him to explain.Arson at that moment began revealing the details of the prophecy to everyone sited there, on hearing this, a great silent swept through the palace, they were all left speechless. But then, the king's advisor, madrick, pointed out the severity of the issue, and
The next day, fliers were posted round for all the young men of the kingdom to assemble at a certain location for a sudden announcement by the king,There it all started,I had just arrived in the capital and was planning to find accommodation, when I saw the flier, I then decided to attend and Hear what the king had to say,On reaching there, I saw an enormous crowd, it was quite difficult to get through, and in the process, I heard a voice."Young men of this prosperous kingdom" the king shouted with an outstandingly audible voice as he walked onto the stage,"There is disturbing news going round the kingdom, so I am here to personally clarify it....... the sorcerer ephron, who is now late. Dedicated herself to solving the mystery of the prophecy, and after so long, she was finally able to find meaning to it, but it turned out to be very disturbing, she confirmed that on the day of the blood moon, the barrier at boundary would be broken"On hearing this, there was a great commotion.
I had just finished sword practice for the day and was heading home.On reaching my house, I was completely lost at the sight that welcomed me, The whole place was on fire, the flames blazed through the windows, doors and everywhere in and around the house.Without thinking, I immediately rushed in through the door that had already been blown open by the flames,"Mom! Mom!" I screamed in panic running around the house, there was nothing left to see but flame, the smoke were so dense to the point that I had difficulty in breathing,As I ran around the house helplessly, I suddenly stepped on something, on noticing it, I took a step backward and looked to see what it was, to my surprise, it was mom.Seeing her all raddled up, I immediately bent down and lifted her up by resting her back on my arm,"mom! Wake up, please....... wake up!" I pleaded. She then opened her eyes and spoke "Charles, is that you" "Yes, it's me" I replied."I need to tell you something....ugu ugu ugu (coughing) you
"Wow, and I thought I had it rough….well, at the very least were in the same boat” he asserted. "Yea, your right" I answered, robbing my finger against my ring. “Oh, that’s right; I forgot to ask for your name" he asked. wearing an obvious smile. “It’s Charles and you" i replied. He pointed his index finger to his face “It’s William" The room was a small compact place, it looked as though it was built without proper planning, a little stool was placed at the corner of the room facing the door, and a mini table was placed at the center, “That’s right, how were you able to make such amount of money in such a short time?" he asked with a sudden kin interest, It was at that moment I realized; he was an insanely curious person. "Well, I did tell you about the ring I was given" "Yea, you did" he replied looking excited, "Apparently it was a spatial ring; it contained a lot of gold coins and also a strange sword" “strange, and what do you mean by that" "Well, for some reason I ca
On entering the forest, a thick gray fog engulfed me in whole, I couldn't see or hear a thing, the whole place was a bit dark as the sun ray was barely able to illuminate through the thick dark fog. in that situation, the only thing I could do, was run,After a long period of continuous running, I heaved a sigh of relief as I saw a light straight ahead, I continued running towards the direction of the light, until I finally escaped the fog, As I escaped the fog, I turned around but found no one, even the fog was nowhere to be found, the only thing I saw were enormous trees and over grown bushes, my limbs felt like they would fall off, but I just couldn't stop there, I had to keep running to ensure survival. On reaching a certain part of the forest, I stopped as I encountered a strange sound; the sound seemed to echo all over the forest, so I couldn't locate its source.Sudden, a strange creature came out from within the bushes, it had two horns and its fangs were extremely huge, its
The moment he struck me, memories of my life flashed pass my eyes, I became even more determined to find the truth, but at this rate, it was all over.I fell to the ground and slowly lost consciousness, my eyes became deem and I lost all my strength, the only thing I could see, was the red eyes of the ogre, till it all faded into darkness."Waahhh!" I screamed, as I sat up,I looked around and found all the summoned ogres lying around lifelessly, I then turned to my side and found the ogre dead.I immediately stood up completely astonished by what I had just seen, to my greatest surprise, I discovered that I was holding the sword which I couldn't originally pull out of its scabbard,A strange feel of energy coursed round my body, it was like nothing I have ever felt before, I felt so...... powerful. The event that had transpired while I was unconscious was a mystery to me, there was no trace of injuries on my body, it was rather strange, in a short while, I continued my journey into t
I barely managed to crawl out of the cottage; the pain I felt was really intense."I saw how you killed that ogre; you won't be getting beyond this point" he added as he stepped forward.."What! I... I ..... Killed it" i stuttered. "Oh please, drop the act, your life ends here"Suddenly, the other fingers also transformed to claws, and then he attacked me,"Zzuupp! Zzuupp!" the claws went straight for my neck.I managed to evade some of the attacks with my sword, but the final strike was so fast that I couldn't react to it, it then sunk its claw through my chest,After that, the beast attempted to deal a final blow, realizing this, I immediately reached for my dagger which was strapped to my leg and stabbed it in the eye,"Ahhh!" the beast screamed out in pain.Without a single second to waste, I ceased the opportunity, got up and made a run for it.I ran into the forest in so much pain and nothing but a single thought in mind, survival,After covering some distance I stopped on noti
