Thrill of the forbidden

“It's 3a.m, are you sure it's a good time to go jogging?” Annabelle asked, turning to him as they ran through the gardens towards the mountain in the middle.

“Believe me, that's when the forces of nature are the strongest. It's the best time for someone seeking inspiration. Hold my hand and close your eyes, try to feel the things around you with your other senses.” He whispered, smiling at her with doting eyes.

“I'm already sweating yet we have not reached the mountains yet.” She whispered and gasped, taking his outstretched hand.

Mo Lan smiled at her and caressed the back of her hand.

“Sweating shows you're healthy and the cells of your body are active.” He whispered, reducing his pace once more. He had slowed down to less than a twentieth of his normal pace, yet she was still struggling to keep up. If it was only him, he would have been halfway up the mountain. He slowed down once more, seeing that her breathing was still rushed.
