Dinner in the Fernandez mansion was very cold, the pressure in the air was so thick, like it couldn’t be cut through by a knife. Jonathan was present was so nervous, he found it hard to breath. The patriarch, Harrison had a gloomy expression on his face, Rhys parents were calm while Christopher and Atlas felt as if they were sitting on tether hooks. The only indifferent person, who was unfazed by everything happening was Rhys. While he was eating, he held a phone on one hand, scrolling through it, oblivious to the pleading looks that Jonathan threw in his direction. Jonathan began to regret why he had chosen to show up in the house. The dinner on the table was quickly cleared but no one left. “Father-“ After a long time passed with no one saying anything, Christopher started but he was soon interrupted.“Be quiet!” Harrison hollered angrily. “Atlas!” Atlas jumped to his feet immediately, looking downwards, scared to look at the patriarch on the face. “Yes grandfather- No Patriarch.”
Over the next few days, everything was peaceful, Rhys was more focused in taking complete control of the conglomerate, he had more things to learn. Most of the time, he had to work into the night, attend business events and show his face to the public. At that moment, he was standing in a dark corner with a glass of champagne, all alone, while representatives from different companies and business organizations were socializing, trying to get allies and business partners. The reason why he doesn’t have a lot of people surrounding him, trying to build connection was because, they were completely unaware that he was present. He had showed up with his father but instead, it was his father who had crowds around him. The sight simply amused him. He knew how much his father was going to nag once they returned home but he would rather Alessandro be in the Frontline to entertain this representatives and it be him.“I’m guessing you don’t enjoy this sort of event too.” He sharply turned around
“You still haven’t discovered who I am?” Rhys asked“I was on a mission and I didn’t have the time to do my investigations.” Lucas answered with a sigh.“What are you investigating?”“Do you know the shadow organization?” He started at Rhys deeply, watching his expression closely. After he saw Rhys shake his head, he continued. “So you don’t have any relationship with them?” He inquired once again for confirmation.Rhys was confused about the strange question. “Am I supposed to know them?”“But you can clearly use- what sort of family would not inform you about them?” Lucas mumbled a few more words but it was so low that Rhys found it hard to hear what he was saying .“What are you talking about? Why should I know about shadow organization?”“Because they dispatched some of their members to this event, their aim to clearly kill someone,” Lucas glanced across the room, at the people who were laughing and talking to one another. “I wonder who is their victim tonight.Rhys shook his head
The front door of the apartment was opened a bit, which meant that her friend was at home. Elena looked around, worried that someone had followed her after she snuck out of the mansion. She had worn a black gown with black sunglasses, then insisted on going to a restaurant in the night. While she was in the bathroom, she had found a way to ditch her guards and leave the restaurant through the back door.If it wasn’t cause of the message she had gotten from her friend, she would never have tried escaping from her guards. The message caused her to get really worried and she didn’t hesitate to show up all alone. “Bianca?” She pushed the front door open the rest of the way and entered the quiet apartment, shutting the door behind her. “It is me Elena, You told me to show up all alone. I’m here now,” Elena said as she walked a few feet away from the door towards the bedroom. “You forgot to close the main door again, that’s not the-”She never finished her sentence.Elena heard footsteps ru
Elena rolled over before opening her eyes. She blinked, completely disoriented as she wondered where she was. There was a ringing sound in her head, accompanying it was intense pain. She hissed out, biting her lips, afraid to cry out. Darkness shrouded the unfamiliar room, although through a single lamp cast enough light to make her realize that she was in a luxurious room.Elena propped herself and sat up, staring blankly at the duvet as she tried to recall the memories of the previous day. She hated the way she was feeling. She felt nauseated, with a headache and her brain felt like cotton. The events of the previous day came rushing back to her mind and she couldn’t resist groaning out in pain. The door to the room suddenly opened and a familiar figure walked in with a glass of water. “Are you okay?” Rhys asked with concern. Instead of the formal suit she had seen him wearing the previous night, this time he had changed into jeans and a sweatshirt.“I think so.” She mumbled out,
Right on the bedside table was her phone, Elena grabbed it but as she turned it on, she was greeted with the fact that she had twenty missed calls; all from a restricted number that kept having a chance to contact her despite the number of times she changed her number. Elena stared at the missed call messages, worried it was related to the person that tried to abduct her the previous night. It was the why that bothered her. At that precise moment when she was brooding about the decision to make, her phone rang, displaying the restricted call in the caller ID. Elena was livid about the invasion of her personal space. She contemplated on whether or not to answer it but she changed her mind in the end. She tossed the phone to the side. Elena refused to answer the call, she refused to give him the satisfaction of answering the call. She wanted to act as if the call and the significance hadn’t even registered on her mind.In the end, she made a loud exasperated sound and turned off her p
Upon getting to his office, Rhys was shocked to see his mother waiting for him, she had a worried expression on her face. As soon as he stepped in, she walked towards him and hugged him. “Mum are you okay?” He could tell that something was bothering her.Lydia nodded as she forced out a smile to reassure her son. “I’m glad you are here.”“So what’s brings you here mother and by the way, Elena is at home.”Her eyes twinkled at the mention of her future daughter in law that she has taken a liking to. “Did she come to visit me? I should have waited much longer to speak to her.” When Elena and Rhys had breakfast, the rest of the family had already left the house so no one knew of her arrival the night before. “It is alright, you have lots of chances to meet with her.”“I have something important to tell you.” Her cheerful tone suddenly took a turn, an ominous silence spread across the room.“What is that, mother?” Rhys made his way to the chair mainly reserved for him as he looked forwa
Her breath was coming in hard pants as she took the final lap of her run with her dog, Bianca had run more aggressive, a better means to stay fit and a natural way to relieve the pressure that was gripping her. She followed this routine since she started college, along with the luxury of living alone with her dog, there was no roommate to compromise with or work around even if she would have gladly gone for the former. She could hang out with her only friend in the bookstore. Bianca thought of how she had lost her phone and the only means to contact her friend. She knew her identity. Elena Topaz. She came off as a sweet woman, one with an important identity and Bianca expected her to be proud and arrogant but that wasn’t the case.
