Chapter seventy four

The next day, the lunch date with Nathaniel really started off well but midway, it went south. Elena enjoyed catching up with Nathaniel but soon realized that he had changed a lot, so much that she almost couldn’t recognize him anymore. When he first picked her up and drove her to the restaurant, he was attentive, nice and sweet but midway, he started getting distracted. He would glance at his phone for minutes as if he were expecting some sort of a call or a message. When she would ask him what was the issue and whether there was some place he’d rather be; he would force out a smile at her, trying to reassure her that everything was alright.

To Elena, it just didn’t feel right anymore but with a smile on her face, she tried to let it go and bring life to the conversation on the table. He gave half-hearted response whenever she asked him a question, sometimes he gave vague answers which was quite annoying.
