Chapter 3~

He stood like the hopeless man he is, thinking of what to do next. Finding a good job was out of the line, and he couldn’t keep up with being an errand boy forever. He needed to find something better, probably leaving the city for good.

But that’ll be impossible. He doesn’t even have the money to transport himself, to talk of funding a new home to start a new life.

With a heavy sigh, he mustered. "It’s pointless."

While he was lost in thought, a Lincoln limousine pulled over just a few meters away from him. He didn’t notice the huge masculine men who stepped down from the car, rushing to his side.

They pulled a black bag over his head, then dragged him into the car. Alex struggled to break free, but they were just too strong for him.

He wanted to scream but couldn’t as he felt a hand covering his mouth from doing so. “Keep quiet!” A voice yelled at him. “Any move, we’ll shoot the fuck out of your life.”

Alex was shaken by the husky voice of the stranger. A thousand thoughts raced through his mind, and the only thing he could imagine was that he must have been kidnapped.

He thought of his past life, hoping what was happening wasn't that he assumed it to be. Were they going to kill him? Were they sent to ruin the little life he has left? Even after this, no one was going to care about his disappearance.

So, he remained silent so as not to lose his head. After what seemed like minutes, the car suddenly pulled over to a halt. Two men forcefully pulled him out of the car, dragging him to nowhere.

His body was vibrating in fear as he mentally thought of where they were taking him to. After going through an endless walk, they threw him roughly to the ground.

Someone came to take the black bag off his face. He covered his eyes from the sun ray, trying to get a glimpse of his surroundings.

His gaze traced at the hefty men standing before him. For a second, he felt his heart was out of its chamber.

“Who are you people? Why am I here? I haven’t done anything, please… don’t hurt me. I beg you.” He pleaded, but his words went on deaf ears.

"Quiet, boy. You better remain silent if you want to live.” one of the men threatened him.

“That’s enough!” A voice echoed through the room. The men paused, all eyes darted towards the old man who weakly walked up in their direction.

Alex grew twice more terrified than he already has. The expression on the old man’s face told how furious he was. He wasn’t looking at Alex, but he was staring at the hefty men standing behind him.

A deep frown played on his face. In an authoritative tone, he said to the men; “How dare you treat our young master this way?!”

Young master? Alex thought, what's going on here? Who are these people?

The men staggered back with fear, giving both Alex and the old man a distance.

“Have you forgotten your manners already?” He questioned, “Have you no idea this is the young master?”

Immediately, they fell on their knees with their faces buried to the ground, they said. “Forgive us, sir. Please, spare our life.”

The old man was calm, he looked at Alex who glared confusedly at him. His facial expression sought an explanation of what was going on.

“Please, forgive their rude attitude, sir.” The old man apologized on their behalf.

Alex had no idea what he was talking about and why the same men who had adopted him were kneeling on their feet to him. Worst of all, they just called him ‘Young Master?’

The old man helped him stand to his feet, adjusting his clothes. “Who are you, why am I here?” Alex asked desperately, wanting an explanation.

“My name is John, and I serve as a butler for the Wayne family.” He replied, bowing his face to the ground. “Your family. Once again, forgive their rude attitude, they had no idea it was you.”

“I hope I can understand what you’re talking about, Mr John. I mean, I’m so confused right now. I… I don’t even know what to say!” He said, his voice was a bit high but not rude. “I grew up with no parents, my whole life has been poorly designed. How am I supposed to believe my parents were once rich before they died? No one told me anything about this.”

John’s expression turned to a sad one. “It’s all my fault. This isn’t the way I expected it would be.”

“What happened?” Alex frowned.

“Your parents were one of the most famous and richest elites in the state. But then, something happened. They were betrayed by the very people they trusted. Your parents, the company, and everything they own broke down overnight. You were too young then, you had no idea what was happening.” His voice was low, filled with rage but his sadness suppressed all.

Alex sighed heavily, glaring at every degree. He really wants to believe what the old man was saying, but for a thousand reasons, he couldn’t.

He never believed a day like this would come. He never thought of himself in such a moment, to hear someone tell him he is the son of the most famous Wayne.

And all those years, he faced hardship and the ugly side of fate when his life could possibly be transformed in just a blink of an eye.

"What happened to my parents?"

"They were murdered." John replied, guilt stained over his face.

"Who killed them?" Alex demanded.

"The Williams." On hearing the Williams name, his face was covered in annoyance.

"The Williams used to be followers of your parents, they had nothing with them, at least they used to be faithful to your father. But when things took a different turn that night, they saw a chance to step up into the world.”

“So?”

“Those cowards,” he cursed. “They acted to be good people so no one would know of their agenda. They made the society see them like the saints they aren’t, now everyone believes they deserve the glory. But behind that goodness, they own something that doesn’t belong to them, but something that belongs to you.”

He clenched his fist to hear that the same people who had ruined his life were the same responsible for the death of his parents.

“Why didn’t you do something about it? Why didn’t anyone react?” He queried, anger boiling inside of him.

“Well, sir, it wasn’t as easy as you think.” John sighed. “Even if we were to react or have them reported, no one was going to believe us. They will think we have framed up stories or something to get back at them. But right now, we need to get the company standing and retrieve what your father lost a long time ago.”

“How am I supposed to do that when there’s nothing left under my father’s name?”

“There are.” His response shocked Alex.

“I thought –“

But John nodded his head. “Like I said, your father-in-law and mother-in-law took part in the property. At least, they thought they had it all to satisfy them, but no…” he shook his head, “the amount of money and property they took with them was just a million out of a trillion. The main money and documents of ownership have been kept safe with me all these years. So, be rest assured, we haven’t lost it all.” He smiled.
