Cassie felt a surge of anxiety as she glanced at Brandon, aware that her friends were trying to provoke him. She knew they wanted to belittle her husband in front of Brandon, making her realize that Brandon was the better choice for her.
Brandon intervened, "You guys should stop. Cassie came here for business, so let's not bring her husband into this. I used to have feelings for Cassie in college, and I still do, but she's married now, and I have to respect that." He said somehow a bit annoyed with his friends. Cassie looked at Brandon with gratitude, surprised by his wise words. But suddenly, she felt a wave of dizziness wash over her. Her body began to feel light, and everything around her became blurry. She tried to shake off the fogginess, but it was no use. She decided to excuse herself to use the bathroom, hoping a splash of water on her face would help. "Excuse me, I'm not feeling well. May I use the bathroom?" she asked Brandon politely. Brandon's response was laced with concern, "What's wrong, Cassie? You don't look fine. Is everything okay?" But if Cassie had been more perceptive, she would have caught the sinister smile spreading across Brandon's face. "I'm okay, Brandon. I just need to use the bathroom. Excuse me," she replied, trying to hide her unease. Something definitely felt off. How could she be suddenly feeling dizzy? It's nit like she ate something bad. She knew that her husband cook only healthy foods and was keen on avoiding anything Cassie was allergic to. How come was she feeling dizziness suddenly? As Cassie struggled to her feet, she felt a wave of dizziness wash over her again, but she managed to grab onto the couch just in time. One of the girls in the room suggested, "I think I should go with her. She doesn't look good on her own," and Brandon agreed, "Yeah, sure, I think you should go with her. My sweet Cassie doesn't seem to be doing well, help her find the bathroom." Brandon then motioned to one of the girls to accompany Cassie. As they left the room, the others burst into laughter, and Joshua exclaimed, "Brandon, you're so smart! I give that to you dude." Brandon smiled smugly and gave him a thumbs up, saying, "I have to be smart if I want to get a girl like Cassie. She rejected me back in college, and even now, she still keeps rejecting me. But when her company faces a problem, she comes crawling to me for help. What a joke! She thinks I'm a fool, but I'll take what I want from her, badly." Brandon's evil grin spread across his face as he continued, "You know, it was all part of my plan. If you had waited and drugged her wine later, a girl like Cassie would have gotten suspicious. But thanks to my clever suggestion, the plan worked perfectly." John chimed in, "Now all we have to do is clear out and prepare the space. And don't forget your promise, Brandon. After you're done with her, let us have our fun too." He wiggled his eyebrow at Brandon who just chuckled. Brandon then agreed, laughing as if they were discussing a thrilling game and not defamation of a married woman. Meanwhile, in the bathroom, Cassie splashed water on her face, hoping to clear her foggy mind and blurry vision. But it didn't work, and she stared at her reflection in the mirror, not caring about the smudged makeup all over her face. She was still fighting the grogginess, her brain numb and her thoughts jumbled. She just couldn't understand what exactly is happening to her now. Where from all this dizziness? The girl who had accompanied her to the bathroom hurriedly handed her a phone and whispered urgently, "I don't know who you are and I don't care. However, if you want to save your life and your body, get someone to come and rescue you right now. Brandon drugged your wine, and that's why you're feeling so dizzy. I'm a woman like you, and I can't stand their act. So hurry up and call for help! Better not call th police!" In a desperate bid to save herself, the lady urged Cassie to take her phone and call for help, warning her that time was of the essence. Even she herself was afraid what Brandon and the rest might do to her if she was caught. The lady's words tumbled out in a rush as she handed Cassie her phone, having left her own bag behind in the room. Cassie's mind raced as she took the phone and quickly dialed her mother's number, but there was no answer. She tried her younger sister and father, but they didn't pick up either. Panic set in as the phone slipped from her grasp. Her hands were trembling and she was grateful that such news helped clear her mind a little. The lady's patience wore thin as she watched her new phone fall to the bathroom floor. What the hell? "Hey! Watch it, girl! That's a brand new phone!" she exclaimed, snatching it up and handing it back to Cassie, who looked at her with tears welling up in her eyes. "Wait! Don't tell me you've got no one to call for help?" The lady asked Cassie if she had no one else to call, and Cassie wondered if she should try to escape. "I don't! How about I escape instead?" Cassie asked, her lips trembling in fear and panic. But the woman was adamant that fleeing was not an option, given the hotel's security and Brandon's uncle's influence. "Don't even think about it. Don't you know who this hotel belongs to? It's Brandon uncle's. Escaping is out if the equation." The lady shook her head frantically. She was starting to get worried because they've been un the bathroom for a while now. Brandon and his friends weren't fools. They would soon catch up to what was going on. As Cassie continued to try the doors of other possibilities, the lady grew frustrated with her naivety. "Don't you have anyone else to call?" she pressed, trying to think of someone who could help. Cassie's thoughts turned to someone she never expected - her husband, Alex. She hesitated, wondering if he would even answer, but decided to try. As the phone rang, Cassie prayed that Alex would pick up. Finally, just as she was about to lose hope, a deep, muscular voice answered. "Hello, who is this?" Alex asked, and Cassie's pleas for help tumbled out in a desperate bid for rescue. In a state of panic, Cassie's desperate plea rang through the phone... "Alex, please, you have to help me! I need you to save me, now! I'm in a frave danger! Brandon wants to...." But before she could utter another word, the bathroom door burst open, and Brandon stormed in, his face red with anger, accompanied by his two friends. "Aahh!" Cassie screamed in panic when the door was burst opened. Without hesitation, Brandon stormed and slapped the lady who was in the bathroom with Cassie before grabbing the phone from Cassie and smashing it on the floor and stomped on it several times to make sure it was broken. "HOW DARE YOU!" Brandon bellowed to the lady before ordering his two friends... "Take her to the room!" Without delay, the two friends picked Cassie up and walked out of the bathroom despite Cassie's screaming for help. After Alex finished his usual kitchen chores, he left the house. The constant nagging from his mother in law was driving him to insane and he nothing but to be far away from the chaotic dynamics in the home.He went to a nearby store and bought cigarettes before heading back home, but rather than entering the house, he chose to sit beneath a large tree just right outside th house. He lit his cigarette and exhaled clouds of smoke.Memories that he had desperately attempted to suppress began flooding his thoughts. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't push them away. The pain was so intense that it made his heart ache.Looking up at the starlit sky, he muttered the names of his fallen companions—names he had buried deep within his heart. No one was aware of his true identity, and he wasn’t prepared to expose it. The only other person who knew who he really was, aside from him, was that old doctor who had saved him when he was on the brink of death. Alex then began listing the names
Without responding, Alex continued to knock quietly. It wasn’t long before the irritation of those inside escalated, prompting one of them to come forward and open the door."I instructed you not to..." the person began, but was abruptly cut off as Alex dealt a swift blow to his face, sending him stumbling backward as blood gushed out from his nose. Then, the door swung wide open, allowing Alex to enter freely. Once inside, Alex’s demeanor hardened, and he clenched his fists as he surveyed the unfolding scene, a deep scowl etched on his face.Alex observed his wife clutching a shattered bottle, her hands directed toward Brandon and his friends. Her palms were smeared with blood from her wounds, and blood trickled from the corners of her lips, while her face appeared puffed, suggesting she had endured multiple slaps. The dress on her shoulders also bore cuts, slightly exposing her cleavage. Her gaze seemed disoriented as she gestured wildly with the bottle, lacking any precise target
Alex and Cassie descended from the top floor, relief washing over them as they reached the reception area. Both of them were grateful that a horrible calamity had been avoided. Cassie wouldn't have been able to live with her self if her innocence was violated. Thus, she was immensely grateful to her so called useless husband for his timely intervention. However, their ordeal was far from over, though. The plush carpets and polished marble seemed to fade into the background as they faced a new challenge. Alex carried Cassie in his arms as he came out of the elevator. Some of the people enterng and leaving screamed when they saw how bloody Cassie's hands and and shrieked away. The receptionist who helped Alex to find Brandon's room was mortified. Jus what the hell happened on the last floor. Did she do wrong by sending the strange man up there? Will she be fired? Just as Alex was about to exit the hotel, a number of large bodyguards entered the premises and blocked his
Alex took Cassie home, the silence between them palpable. It seemd they were both lost in their own thoughts, not bothering with each other. As they drove home, no one spoke to each other. They just silently in the car.Alex seemed completely unbothered by the silence, his eyes fixed on the road ahead as he drove. But Cassie had a lot going on inside her head. She stole glances at Alex from time to time, trying to read his expression. But Alex completely ignored her, his face a mask of indifference. It seemed that he didn't care about her presence in the car with him.Cassie felt a bit sad inwardly that Alex was ignoring her. She had grown accustomed to his aloofness, but it still stung. It wasn't like their relationship was great as husband and wife. No! On the contrary, they've never been close. In fact, it seemed they didn't care about each other. They were only married couple in the eyes of the public. But privately, they are more like strangers.... No! They are like enemies bec
PROLOGUE:It was a stormy day. The heavy raindrops were back music for a scene of utter devastation. The air was thick with the heavy smell of dust and blood, an unpleasant mix that hung heavy over the battlefield.Bodies lay scattered, battered by the relentless rain, the majority belonging to their enemies, but a significant number were their own comrades, fallen members of the Falcon Team. Two survivors, Alexander and Cassandra, huddled behind a broken pole, using it as a protective shield to protect themselves from the onslaught of guns. Both were badly injured, but Alexander's wounds were more severe, a testament to his selfless act of shielding Cassandra from harm. What was meant to be a routine mission had turned into a bloodbath, with most of their team members cut down before they could even begin their operation. It was clear that their hideout had been betrayed, allowing their enemies to launch a surprise attack that killed almost all of their comrades. But who was respon
Alex was jolted awake by a sudden splash of water on his face."What the fuck!" he cursed.Groggily, he opened his eyes to find his mother-in-law, Gloria, standing beside his bed, her face twisted in anger."What's gotten into you, Gloria?" Alex demanded, wiping the water from his face. "You could've woken me up without resorting to this."Gloria shot back, her sarcasm dripping like venom, "Oh, good evening to you too, Your Highness. It's almost midnight, in case you didn't know."Alex's eyes narrowed, his anger simmering just below the surface.Gloria, however, remained unimpressed. She thought to herself that her son-in-law was nothing like the charming, obedient men she'd seen in novels and on TV.No, Alex was a force to be reckoned with, his pride and ego was like a mountain.Despite his face full of unshaven beard, Gloria had to admit that Alex was a handsome man if only he'd shave and present himself properly. But that was beside the point. The real issue was that he'd somehow
"Why is everyone so angry? I just told the truth. Cassie is a natural beauty. But with all that makeup, well, that isn't what I call beauty," Alex said, still maintaining his innocent face. It wasn't until then that the women realized the reason behind his hurtful comment about Cassie's appearance. It wasn't because Cassie wasn't beautiful, but rather due to the excessive makeup she had applied, making her look 'Ugly' according to Alex. This revelation brought a sense of relief that it wasn't a personal attack from Alex, yet Cassie still felt discomfort at the harsh words. Just then, Michael spoke up, "I think Alex is right, Cassie. You might have overdone it with the makeup. I prefer your natural look, it's more beautiful that way." Cassie lowered her head and didn't say anything to her father. Gloria shot her husband a cold glance, but he seemed oblivious. She couldn't understand why he always supported Alex, even when the rest of the family disagreed with his marriage to
Cassie's anger simmered as she left her house, feeling undervalued by her husband. What the hell does he think he is? He's just a useless live in son in law. What right does he have to make her feel that way? However, she refused to let his negativity get the better of her. Living with him all this while, Cassie was growing immune to his antics. With a deep breath, she drove to the Plaza hotel to meet Brandon, as previously arranged. That should be her objective now, not that annoying husband o hers.As she parked her car and handed the keys to the valet, Cassie gazed up at the hotel's imposing structure and the bustling crowd. Indeed, it was built for wealthy people. She let out a sigh, hoping Brandon would be able to help her resolve the issues plaguing her father's company. The last thing she wanted was for her grandfather to take control away from her and hand it over to her cousin Thomas, who would stop at nothing to sabotage her success."What a bunch of crazy people I have in
