Chapter 10

"Sign that it you want to remain under me. After you sign, I'll write what ever contract I like on the blank paper which already have your signature." Ruby snapped and let out a cruel and loud laughter.

Derrick set down the pen and looked at Ruby. "I'm not signing this," he replied. "I don't know what it is, and I'm not signing anything without knowing what it is." Ruby's face turned red with anger.

"How dare you!" she yelled, her voice rising. "I thought you trusted me! How could you not sign something just because you don't know what it is?"

Derrick stood his ground. "I'm sorry, but I can't," he responded. "I need to know what I'm signing."

"If you're not signing it, get out of my house!" Ruby commanded.

Derrick felt stuck. He knew that he couldn't upset Ruby, but he also didn't feel comfortable signing a document without knowing what it was. But he also knew that if he refused to sign it, it would make things worse. He felt like he was in a no-win situation. He took a deep breat
