Chapter 28

Derrick got ready for bed, going through his evening routine. He brushed his teeth, washed his face, and changed into his pajamas. As he climbed into bed, he felt a sense of exhaustion wash over him.

The argument with Ruby had taken a toll on him, and he just wanted to sleep and forget about it. He turned off the light and closed his eyes, trying to focus on his breathing and clear his mind. But as he lay there, he couldn't stop thinking about Ruby and what might have been.

Derrick's day at work was slow and monotonous, as usual. He went about his tasks of sweeping, mopping, and cleaning the bathrooms with the same lack of enthusiasm he always felt.
