"I'm sorry Sir for disturbing the serenity of our establishment, but this poor and tattered-looking man thinks he can waltz in, with an air of arrogance into our restaurant and get away with it. Last I checked Sir, this is a reputable place for only the elites and he sure doesn't look nor dress like an elite to me Sir"
Adam could feel the gaze of the man who he assumed to be the manager appraising him, he stole a glance at the man's face, the manager's expression was like that of someone who had sucked on an unripened lemon, his face was so sour.
The manager neared him, standing at a mere 5"12, he tried to intimidate Adam, 'If only these people knew who he had become' Adam kept his thoughts to himself, there wasn't any need proving himself to these ones, they were hell-bent on judging this book by its covers.
"Sir, you know that you cannot afford to buy a cheap meal for yourself, as such, you most definitely cannot afford to even buy a plate of our cheapest meal or even a glass of water. I'd kindly advise that you leave here, take your leave Sir."
"Well I'm not here to buy food nor sit at a table in your establishment, I just came here seeking for my wife" Adam replied, the duo sprang into laughter, laughing unabashedly at him.
The Manager looked at him, humour less pity shining in his eyes
"Sir, you most definitely must be delusional. I'm certain your wife cannot be in our restaurant, you must have the names mixed up. Please take your leave, or I'll be forced to involve the securities." pointing to the exit, the manager sneered at Adam.
"I would leave, but please I request of you. Can you check if a Louisa Martins is seated at any of your tables?" he politely asked.
"Hell no!! I wouldn't be doing such a thing! Disturbing our patron to help a common folk like you. Sir, this is the last I will say of it, please take your leave." the manager said in a mocking tone. Through the corner of his eyes, Adam watched as the receptionist left their presence and headed out.
Sighing to himself, Adam tried reasoning with the obstinate manager who was hell-bent on not helping him.
"Sir, if only you could j…"
Adam was interrupted by the forceful tap on his shoulders from behind, he looked behind him to see two two security officers alongside the receptionist
"Sorry Sir, you have to leave now"
Without awaiting his response, they jacked him up from his belt and began dragging him outside.
The commotion had garnered the attention of some of the patrons and they all turned to see what the problem was. One by one they began leaving their seats to give their undivided attention to the commotion.
They all watched in awe as Adam was being dragged away, and took turns mocking and making jest of him.
Most of the customers had now gathered outside, the security seeing that they had company insulted and belittled Adam the more.
Adam finally noticed the onlookers, and as his gaze fell upon one of them, he staggered on his feet, his legs wobbled; feeling like jelly, he stumbled backwards as the patrons mocked him.
Their mockery was drowned in Adam's stunned state, he could hardly believe his eyes. As he intently looked at her in shock, she lowered her gaze for a split second and looked right back at him, daring him.
"Loui…" he whispered beneath his breath. No it couldn't be, couldn't possibly be her, his eyes travelled the length of her and once again he tripped over his legs at her rounded and protruding belly that stared right back at him.
"No, it can't be. All those rumours…" he soliloquised
"Louisa??" he called out more audibly this time. He had to give it to her, she had gone pale; her skin white as a sheet, trying to avoid his gaze.
Everyone looked at the direction he faced, and began wondering how a classy and beautiful woman knew such a man.
Adam clenched his fist tightly, and he could feel his fingers bruising his flesh, but thought nothing of it. He was livid as well as disappointed
"You're pregnant? With another man's child!?" Louisa lifted her chin into the air, she didn't deem him fit to respond to him.
Another voice cut Adam's next questioning short
"What's happening here? Louisa baby, what's the problem?" a gentleman appeared from within the crowd, placing his arms around her waist.
Blood surged and rushed to Adam's face, his veins began to protrude. He could feel his heart shattering within as he observed them both.
"Of all the men in the world Louisa, you could have replaced me with any other man in this world. You ended up with this bastard?! Did it have to be him, Louisa!?" he bellowed in agonising pain
William snickered to himself, as he drew Louisa closer to him.
"You got a problem with that? What right do you think you have to tell her who she's to choose? I have the money, fame and luxuries that you cannot have in a lifetime, and you dare tell MY WIFE who to end up with?" William angrily threw Adam's word back at him.
Adam ignored Williams, as he stared at Louisa with his bloodshot eyes
"Fucking answer me Louisa! After all the promises, and assurances. I loved you Louisa and I was going to give you the best life. In fact things have finally…"
"Empty and worthless promises! That's what they all were. You accuse and blame for getting together with Williams? What do you have to offer me aside from empty promises!? Williams here has made my life easier and beautiful since he came in. At the snap of his fingers he can give me all the luxurious things I need, that you Adam cannot afford!" a charging Louisa replied, she wouldn't have Adam make a fool out of her in the presence of all these people.
Louisa held on to Williams' hand as she glared at Adam "I do not want to spend my entire life suffering and begging for crumbs because I made the gravest mistake of being married to you" she bellowed back at him, Williams placed a kiss on her cheeks to calm her and show his support.
Releasing their joined hands, Williams went up to Adam, and with a smug expression on his face told him loudly
"I got the girl, deal with it. She and I got together two months after I sent you into prison. Isn't that such a fairytale"
In suppressed anger, Adam flared up and landed a slap onto an astonished Williams face, causing him to lose his footing.
Louisa hurriedly rushed to William's side, throwing daggers at Adam as she did, she was startled by what happened. Adam had never been a violent person.
"Are you mad or something Adam, do you want to go back to prison you god forsaken man!?" she lashed out at him.
Williams had never been this humiliated and embarrassed in his life, gritting his teeth he faced Adam and said in a slow poisonous voice, "You'll regret this, sending you to prison was child's play. When I'm done with you, you'd wish you never escaped from prison!" William's demeanour changed, his gaze taking an evil smirk, he signalled to his guards to beat up Adam without showing him mercy. Suddenly, six hefty men came out and advanced towards Adam and assembled before him to deal with him. They all charged towards him at the same time. Skilfully and deftly, Adam dodged their punches while he delivered lethal punches to their body, targeting the places that would immobilise them. In a flash, all six guards were flat on their faces, writhing in pain. Adam had managed to defeat all of them without being bruised at all. Everywhere became quiet, as everyone looked dazed, everybody was dumbfounded. Adam didn't have a scratch on him, yet six trained men were laying on the floor
Without awaiting his response, the distinguished man bowed down to the fellow he had just been about to drag, and he found himself confused. "Erhm, I'm certain there's a mixup somewhere, did you take a look at the man you're bowing to, and did you have a good look in the mirror at yourself before you stepped out?" a man from the crowd stepped forward while asking his question. The former ignored him as he focused on Adam. Adam had hoped for Raul to not create a scene with his excessive display of respect he had come to manage, he had tried to no avail to catch his eyes as he neared, in order to give him a signal. He surely didn't want Louisa to know that his status had changed for the better. As far as he was concerned, it was good riddance. Williams and Louisa stared at the scene in confusion and obvious security, it was obvious that this man was blind. Stepping forward, Williams touched the arm of the man, and immediately had it yanked off by one of his guards present. Williams s
Adam immediately saw red and was enraged, keeping himself in check he deeply inhaled and exhaled as he approached her, staring at her right in the face, he instantly read fear in her eyes though she tried her best to mask it. He chuckled within himself if only she knew better "Louisa, if that's the case then let it be known that I'm challenging you. You wouldn't like to know the stuff I am capable of, as you very well know, I just came out of prison, you do not want to know the things I've come to learn in such a dangerous place, Do not test me Louisa Martins!" he declared while simultaneously glaring at Williams to pass his message across. Louisa shuddered in fear, but her pride wouldn't let Adam have the last say. "You dare threaten the mother of your child Adam? Well, bring it on, ex-convict, there's nothing you can do. In the blink of an eye, my darling husband can have your supposed powers stripped off you. He sent you to jail once, remember? He can do it again without any h
The crowd gasped in shock at the utterance of the taxi man. The Raine family was the number one family in their province and country at large, they had more money than all of the rich men combined and were highly feared, respected and revered. To be associated with them, was like being associated with a god. It was no news that they had been searching for their legal heir for a while, they had released the news to the press, and when they finally found him a few years later, they informed the media but didn't disclose the heir's personality or person. Murmuring further broke out amongst them, as they all began to wonder who the heir was, and if it might have been the poor looking man whom they had previously harrassed and insulted, The majority of them didn't think it was possible, maybe the heir had been in the car not wanting to come out. What didn't add up for them, was Adam's association and involvement with such a high and privileged family. "What's the name on the card? Read
Williams in turn, turned to her and glared at her."NO!! Did you think I'd stand there and watch your wretched and impoverished ex-husband of a man get the upper hand!? I've never been this humiliated in my entire life! NEVER!!" fist clenched, he silently shouted the last bit to herself. Louisa found herself flinching at the tone of his voice, and the hatred that laced his eyes. "I do not know how that bastard managed to escape from the prison, in such a short time. He was supposed to rot in there all his life, and not see the sun ever again!" without awaiting any response, Williams began talking to himself. "I need to find out how he possibly escaped, something doesn't add up" he kept on mumbling to himself. Louisa gathered courage and touched his arms, his body shivered at her touch and she smiled to herself "We will find out, but for now we have to leave here. We do not know if they'll be back anytime" She rubbed the spot where her hand was, passing across her message. Willi
Realising he hadn't answered Raul, he turned from the window and faced Raul"We would do it, but at least not yet. I'll have a word with my grandfather concerning that" Raul nodded his head, replying"Your wish is my command Sir." opening his eyes in shock, he opened the compartment between them in the car, and rifled through it, bringing out a packaged box. Smiling, he stretched the box towards Adam and nudged his head for Adam to take it. "I almost forgot Young Master, and I'm sorry about that. Your grandfather said to give you this, it's a phone. He didn't like that you had to use someone else's phone to make a call, and I'm quite sure he wouldn't like to know that you were embarrassed by the same person. He would like for you to start using this immediately, all the numbers you'd need are right in there, including mine and his Sir" Adam was yet to take the package off his hands, Raul smiled yet again and nodded his head, indicating for him to take it. "It's yours Young Master, e
Raul furrowed his eyebrows, creasing them together, a puzzled look passing his face"Am I permitted to ask why Young Master?"Adam nodded his head as reply, sighing out loud he responded "I'd like to go see my parents, they do not know I've been released, and no Raul you cannot come along, I'll be going myself. I need to tell them of my new status in person. Seeing you, will most likely make them overly curious. I want their minds at peace.""I understand Young Master, but then how would you get back when you're done from there? Your grandfather doesn't want you entering any other cab anymore.""I'll let you know once I'm done there, Raul." Adam smiled and leaned his head backwards on the car. Facing the driver, he called out to him"When you take the next left turns, please stop. I'll be coming down there""Yes Sir. Alright Sir" the driver hastily replied Raul brought out his phone and texted Adam's grandfather to let him know of the change in plans, his phone chimed with a respon
Without hesitating, he knocked on the chipped door as he awaited a response. Not hearing anything, he knocked once again, a bit louder this time around. He awaited albeit patiently as he began to hear the shuffling of footsteps from the house, and couldn't help the smile that appeared on his face in anticipation of seeing either his parents or siblings whom he hadn't seen in a long time. Keys turned in the keyhole, and Adam impatiently shifted from foot to foot, after what seemed like years, though it was a few minutes the door opened and Adam sighed in relief and utter pain at the sight of his mother, at a hair breath, he flung the hat away and gazed at his mother with eyes of sadness and happiness. She had gotten a lot older from the last time he had seen her, her hair had more streaks of grey in it and was thinning out, she looked more frail and her eyes looked sunken in, with a large amount of wrinkles on her face, he couldn't believe it was his mother before him. His heart
