CHAPTER NINE

Williams had never been this humiliated and embarrassed in his life, gritting his teeth he faced Adam and said in a slow poisonous voice,

"You'll regret this, sending you to prison was child's play. When I'm done with you, you'd wish you never escaped from prison!"

William's demeanour changed, his gaze taking an evil smirk, he signalled to his guards to beat up Adam without showing him mercy.

Suddenly, six hefty men came out and advanced towards Adam and assembled before him to deal with him. They all charged towards him at the same time.

Skilfully and deftly, Adam dodged their punches while he delivered lethal punches to their body, targeting the places that would immobilise them.

In a flash, all six guards were flat on their faces, writhing in pain. Adam had managed to defeat all of them without being bruised at all.

Everywhere became quiet, as everyone looked dazed, everybody was dumbfounded. Adam didn't have a scratch on him, yet six trained men were laying on the floor with different degrees of bruises.

Suddenly, as if the spell had been broken, everyone began talking at once

"Who is he?"

"Is he into martial arts or something"

"I overheard them say he came from the prison, maybe that's where he learnt to fight so well"

Williams was seething on his feet at the total humiliation and vowed to avenge it.

Just as Williams was contemplating his revenge, a luxurious white Mercedes, that was an unreleased model, only the elite of the elite could afford as it was custom made, parked at the parking lot. Everyone's attention shifted to the car, they all clamoured to know who was driving it, a taxi pulled up behind the vehicle but no one took notice of it.

Adam smiled to himself as he saw the Mercedes. Things were about to become wilder, these people were about to eat up their words.

The occupant of the taxi got down and headed to the restaurant, the taxi on the other hand began to reverse to leave the premises, and suddenly parked. The driver side opened with force, and the man walked over in determination, his stance asking for blood and fight. He angrily approached Adam, declaring

"You!! I told you we will meet again, and I will make sure to collect my money, you bloody pauper!" Adam glanced at the taxi man as he verbally attacked him.

Noticing the tear and wound on Adam's leg, the taxi man smirked

"Look how torn and tattered you look, take a look at your trousers. I'm sure those dogs must have thoroughly dealt with you. I wonder how you managed to escape, you ought to have died, you ingrate!" he continued on, not minding the attention of the crowd that was back on them.

Louisa and Williams were silently rejoicing as the fellow disgraced Adam, they were wishing for him to do much more damage considering the blow to their ego Adam had previously delivered.

In the tussle, everyone failed to notice that the occupant of Mercedes had come down of the vehicle and was headed their way.

Everyone was so engrossed in the uproar between the taxi man and Adam that they failed to take note of the well-dressed man who was approaching

"You're such a scam, taking me on a merry-go-round for nothing. Instead, I get disgraced and my target cut short." the taxi driver kept dragging Adam to the excitement of everyone including Louisa and Williams.

Having been utterly embarrassed by Adam, William ached to stoke the fire more

"Sir, what did you say this useless fellow did to you?" he smiled at the taxi driver while simultaneously sneering at Adam.

"Thank you, Sir, you look and sound like an upright citizen, unlike this criminal that I picked from prison thinking he was worth anything" everyone oohed and aahed at his declaration.

"That's so sad, I apologise for your experience with him. So how much money do you say he owes you?" Williams once again asked, seeming like he had the best interest of the taxi driver at heart, but was rather looking for all means to further crucify Adam

"His initial charge was 20 dollars, but then he took me to another location and even had the guts and audacity to request my phone and use it in making some fake ass calls! My money should be well over a hundred now!"

"He's such a scam"

"How dare you, knowing you don't have any money yet you sought to spoil a man's source of livelihood. You shouldn't have left the prison" Different people kept inputting their thoughts to the delight of Williams and the taxi man who finally felt he had support.

Adam watched as everything played out but kept mute, wondering what was delaying Raul from making the short distance from the parking lot to where they all were, Raul seemed to be engrossed in a call and he mentally hurried him.

"Sir, we all support you in getting your money back, if you have to strip this man naked to do so, we wouldn't mind. You have to collect what's owed you" Williams exclaimed cutting through Adam's thoughts.

"I doubt if his outfit will cost more than 20 cents, but it's a start I must say," one of the crowd said loudly to the appreciation of others.

Hearing that, the taxi man nodded his head vigorously in an approving manner, he ached for Adam to be thoroughly disgraced the same way he had been back at the place he had dropped him last.

With the approval of those present, he began to drag Adam's shirt to tear it off his body, placing his hands harshly on the shirt he made to tear it until his hand was grabbed from behind and suspended in the air. Turning to question who had dared do such, even with the backing of the crowd, his eyes were met with the close death stare of another eye, who looked like the bodyguard of a prominent person. He found himself shivering uncontrollably

"What do you think you're doing, or what were you about to do?" another voice that didn't belong to the person currently holding his hand spoke, and he sharply turned his head and met the gaze of a distinguished-looking man dressed in a formal white outfit.
