You clearly are a fool. They say looks can be deceiving, but I fail to notice what in god's name must have had you deceived with this tattered and unkempt looking fool. Surely Sir, you are indeed a fool."
The taxi driver had yet to free Adam from his tight grasp, he felt utterly berated by the older lady but couldn't counter her, as she was right. He felt like a fool and vowed to take out his anger on the miscreant he was currently holding.
From the corner of his eyes, the taxi driver watched as a shiny white sedan pulled up on the driveway, and the drinker honked at the gate. The windows were tinted, so no one had yet to see the occupant of the classy ride.
Cecil on seeing the car was giddy inside, another person who hated the very sight of Adam had arrived, and she was sure that he'd happily join in the goading and tormenting of Adam, she watched as the gates slid open automatically, the car was moving in until it suddenly stopped and parked by Adam and the taxi man.
As the car door opened from within, Cecil found herself smirking, her audience would sure have fun with this drama
"Where is this useless security guard, how long will it take him to get the dogs released from their cage?" she wondered out loud while perusing the large compound for the whereabouts of the guard.
At her declaration, she could see her onlookers exchange glances amongst themselves, some with a mix of curiosity while others had a look of anticipation on their faces.
"What in the bloody fuck is going on here?" The occupant of the car furiously expressed, he was dressed splendidly in a grey suit that fitted his body frame, and he had dark shades on that covered his rage-filled eyes.
As he approached the duo, he finally caught sight of Adam and was taken aback but quickly covered it, he glanced at his mother with raised eyebrows and she, in turn, shrugged her shoulders in response
"What do you two low lives want in front of our house? Can you not see that you've gathered a crowd, you're infringing on our privacy and you both could get sued for that!"
The taxi driver hurriedly left the trousers he had been holding onto and fell to his knees
"Kind Sir, I'm sorry. I'm only just a poor taxi driver trying to make ends meet, going about his daily business. I was just unfortunate to come across this useless fellow." he threw Adam a disgusting look, as he went on pleading his case
"Please have mercy, Sir"
Adam watched in amazement as the man tried to hold on to the hem of Logan's trousers, Adam knew Logan had recognised him, but had chosen to ignore him choosing to insult him just like his mother. It wasn't really anything new for him, and he wasn't surprised or worried. He found himself wondering how Logan and his mother had come to such wealth, before his imprisonment, they hadn't been rich. Was it possible that the rumours he had heard in the prison were true? Adam shook his head in disbelief.
Thwack
The sound of the slap reverberated through the air,
Adam's reverie was cut short, as he lifted his palm to his face, gaping in horror at Logan, his mouth wide open in shock.
"How dare you keep mute while I ask a question you fool? What right do you think you are to stare at me and not say a thing while I ask you a question"
"He deserves that and more"
"Such a wretched-looking fellow"
"I wonder where he came from, disturbing the peace and quiet of our serene neighbourhood"
Adam could hear the murmuring of the onlookers as he still held onto his cheeks. He gazed at Logan who had a look of triumph in his eyes. Adam swallowed his reply and pride as he replied Logan
"I'm sorry about that Sir, I didn't mean to be rude or ignore you" he replied a smirking Logan. Cecil, who had been watching the display, was filled with so much joy to see her son disgrace the useless son-in-law of hers. As far as she was concerned, he deserved all that and more.
"That's right Son, show that bastard what you're made of. Having the guts to pull up in our house unannounced and start throwing demands" she called out to her son in pride.
Logan, encouraged with his mother's words and praises, advanced towards Adam looking at him menacingly.
"What exactly do you want here you scuffing looking man?" Logan whispered into Adam's ears as he jerked him up through his collar, holding him up in a chokehold manner.
Adam struggled to catch his breath, as his windpipe felt like they were on fire. His face was turning into a darker shade of red, as bile rose up in his throat. His eyes popped out of their sockets as he wheezed. Satisfied with himself, Logan released his hold on Adam who promptly fell to the ground, struggling to regain himself.
The crowd watched agape as Logan dealt and belittled Adam
"Just looking at him, all muscled up for nothing. He can't even fight back"
"Such a shame, maybe the muscles are just filled with air."
"How can such a macho-looking man, though looking tattered, be easily defeated by this man who he's clearly bigger than, both in height and stature? I'm perplexed I must confess"
Logan smiled to himself as he overheard the comments from the onlookers. Crouching to his level, Logan lifted Adam's chin and bored his eyes at him
"I won't be repeating myself again, what is it that you want here?" he whisper shouted at him
Though Adam stood at a good 6"6 feet, and towered over Logan's 6"1 frame, he didn't want to fight back and hurt Logan in the process, he still considered him as family, and he knew that neither Louisa nor Ariel would be pleased with him if he did beat the only male figure present in their lives during his absence.
Feeling utterly crushed but refusing to let on, Adam replied in a stoic manner
"I came here for my wife and child. I came here for Louisa and Ariel. I believe I have that right, to my child and my wife."
"Well, they aren't here as you can certainly see" Logan responded.
"Where are they then? I demand to see and know the whereabouts of my family!"
Logan threw his head backwards as he snickered on, shaking his head at Adam he stood to his feet and he replied in a sarcastic tone
"Wouldn't you like to know?"
In an instant, the growling and barking of dogs suddenly filled the air, Cecil found herself rejoicing as the dogs were also going to add to the total humiliation and destruction of Adam. "Finally!! I wonder what took the foolish security to round up those dogs." turning to face the direction of the barks, she declared at the top of her voice, to continuously draw in the attention of the growing crowd. "Whoa, the poor man is about to get bitten and chewed as dinner by those dogs, they do sound hungry""I'm going to be here to watch it all playdown. I'm not moving an inch from here" The crowd murmured amongst themselves, all in anticipation of what their eyes were about to feast on. Some of them couldn't wait to get home and relay the events of the day to their loved ones. The security guard finally appeared with another security man, both of them grappling to contain five leashed dogs who were struggling to be free of their leash. The dogs ranging from dobermans to pit bulls and a
Adam wasted no time in heading to the address, although a part of him wondered if he was being set up, due to how fast Logan had changed his mind and given him the location of Louisa. He found himself wishing Ariel would be with her, his arms ached to carry her and feel her. He walked briskly as he tried to locate the area. Thanks to Cecil and Logan he had no means of transportation anymore nor a way to contact Raul. Raul surely must have been searching for him, he hoped that against all odds, Raul would prove himself competent and find him.As Adam walked by the side of the road, he failed to notice a loose thorn in a shrub, seeking to devour its victim, at the last minute, he unfortunately noticed it just as the thorn tore through his trousers and into his flesh"Fuck! Bloody hell. Can this day get any worse" he profanely cursed at the thorn, while trying to soothe the throbbing pain that ran down his calf to his ankle. Ignoring the pain in his legs, Adam limped on slightly as bl
"I'm sorry Sir for disturbing the serenity of our establishment, but this poor and tattered-looking man thinks he can waltz in, with an air of arrogance into our restaurant and get away with it. Last I checked Sir, this is a reputable place for only the elites and he sure doesn't look nor dress like an elite to me Sir" Adam could feel the gaze of the man who he assumed to be the manager appraising him, he stole a glance at the man's face, the manager's expression was like that of someone who had sucked on an unripened lemon, his face was so sour. The manager neared him, standing at a mere 5"12, he tried to intimidate Adam, 'If only these people knew who he had become' Adam kept his thoughts to himself, there wasn't any need proving himself to these ones, they were hell-bent on judging this book by its covers. "Sir, you know that you cannot afford to buy a cheap meal for yourself, as such, you most definitely cannot afford to even buy a plate of our cheapest meal or even a glass o
Williams had never been this humiliated and embarrassed in his life, gritting his teeth he faced Adam and said in a slow poisonous voice, "You'll regret this, sending you to prison was child's play. When I'm done with you, you'd wish you never escaped from prison!" William's demeanour changed, his gaze taking an evil smirk, he signalled to his guards to beat up Adam without showing him mercy. Suddenly, six hefty men came out and advanced towards Adam and assembled before him to deal with him. They all charged towards him at the same time. Skilfully and deftly, Adam dodged their punches while he delivered lethal punches to their body, targeting the places that would immobilise them. In a flash, all six guards were flat on their faces, writhing in pain. Adam had managed to defeat all of them without being bruised at all. Everywhere became quiet, as everyone looked dazed, everybody was dumbfounded. Adam didn't have a scratch on him, yet six trained men were laying on the floor
Without awaiting his response, the distinguished man bowed down to the fellow he had just been about to drag, and he found himself confused. "Erhm, I'm certain there's a mixup somewhere, did you take a look at the man you're bowing to, and did you have a good look in the mirror at yourself before you stepped out?" a man from the crowd stepped forward while asking his question. The former ignored him as he focused on Adam. Adam had hoped for Raul to not create a scene with his excessive display of respect he had come to manage, he had tried to no avail to catch his eyes as he neared, in order to give him a signal. He surely didn't want Louisa to know that his status had changed for the better. As far as he was concerned, it was good riddance. Williams and Louisa stared at the scene in confusion and obvious security, it was obvious that this man was blind. Stepping forward, Williams touched the arm of the man, and immediately had it yanked off by one of his guards present. Williams s
Adam immediately saw red and was enraged, keeping himself in check he deeply inhaled and exhaled as he approached her, staring at her right in the face, he instantly read fear in her eyes though she tried her best to mask it. He chuckled within himself if only she knew better "Louisa, if that's the case then let it be known that I'm challenging you. You wouldn't like to know the stuff I am capable of, as you very well know, I just came out of prison, you do not want to know the things I've come to learn in such a dangerous place, Do not test me Louisa Martins!" he declared while simultaneously glaring at Williams to pass his message across. Louisa shuddered in fear, but her pride wouldn't let Adam have the last say. "You dare threaten the mother of your child Adam? Well, bring it on, ex-convict, there's nothing you can do. In the blink of an eye, my darling husband can have your supposed powers stripped off you. He sent you to jail once, remember? He can do it again without any h
The crowd gasped in shock at the utterance of the taxi man. The Raine family was the number one family in their province and country at large, they had more money than all of the rich men combined and were highly feared, respected and revered. To be associated with them, was like being associated with a god. It was no news that they had been searching for their legal heir for a while, they had released the news to the press, and when they finally found him a few years later, they informed the media but didn't disclose the heir's personality or person. Murmuring further broke out amongst them, as they all began to wonder who the heir was, and if it might have been the poor looking man whom they had previously harrassed and insulted, The majority of them didn't think it was possible, maybe the heir had been in the car not wanting to come out. What didn't add up for them, was Adam's association and involvement with such a high and privileged family. "What's the name on the card? Read
Williams in turn, turned to her and glared at her."NO!! Did you think I'd stand there and watch your wretched and impoverished ex-husband of a man get the upper hand!? I've never been this humiliated in my entire life! NEVER!!" fist clenched, he silently shouted the last bit to herself. Louisa found herself flinching at the tone of his voice, and the hatred that laced his eyes. "I do not know how that bastard managed to escape from the prison, in such a short time. He was supposed to rot in there all his life, and not see the sun ever again!" without awaiting any response, Williams began talking to himself. "I need to find out how he possibly escaped, something doesn't add up" he kept on mumbling to himself. Louisa gathered courage and touched his arms, his body shivered at her touch and she smiled to herself "We will find out, but for now we have to leave here. We do not know if they'll be back anytime" She rubbed the spot where her hand was, passing across her message. Willi
