CHAPTER SIX

In an instant, the growling and barking of dogs suddenly filled the air, Cecil found herself rejoicing as the dogs were also going to add to the total humiliation and destruction of Adam.

"Finally!! I wonder what took the foolish security to round up those dogs." turning to face the direction of the barks, she declared at the top of her voice, to continuously draw in the attention of the growing crowd.

"Whoa, the poor man is about to get bitten and chewed as dinner by those dogs, they do sound hungry"

"I'm going to be here to watch it all playdown. I'm not moving an inch from here"

The crowd murmured amongst themselves, all in anticipation of what their eyes were about to feast on. Some of them couldn't wait to get home and relay the events of the day to their loved ones.

The security guard finally appeared with another security man, both of them grappling to contain five leashed dogs who were struggling to be free of their leash. The dogs ranging from dobermans to pit bulls and a rottweiler were all fierce looking with spit drawing down from their opened jaws to the ground.

The dogs growled at the audience, their eyes blinded by rage and hunger.

At the sight of the dogs, Cecil was visibly shaken, she wasn't so familiar with the dogs and had subconsciously thought the guard wouldn't bring them. She had only instructed him to do so, thinking it would cause Adam to flee like the coward that he was. She stylishly moved away from the front of the approaching dogs as she called out to the security

"Why did you take so long, you fool?"

"I'm sorry madam, it was a whole lot of work to gather them all together, and you know how massive the compound is" he replied aloud, over the loud barking of the dogs.

The taxi man, who had stealthily stood up from his crouched position, on seeing the dogs began to shake on his toes. He hadn't signed up for this scuffle when he had picked up that blasted fellow.

"Release the dogs on them, let them both feel their wraths. They both will regret the day they decided to cause a ruckus in such a neighbourhood!" Logan suddenly commanded the security guards.

Everyone tensed as they heard his declaration, and some of the onlookers began to sneakily leave the area.

The dogs were released, and as they ran on the gravel driveway, towards their victims, their legs crunching with each step.

The taxi driver, still visibly shaken, held on to his crotch to try to no avail to hide the wet patch on his trousers, shaken to his core and afraid for his life, he wasted no time in dashing towards his car, as the dogs fast approached him. Shouting to Adam as he glared at him

"I will get you for this disgrace Sir! I'll make sure to avenge this day and also collect what you owe me" he directed loudly to Adam.

The onlookers loudly laughed at him, with some referring to him as a coward who pees his pants.

Adam felt sorry for the driver and vowed within himself to find him and compensate him for the disgrace he had faced at the hands of his mother-in-law.

The growling dogs further advanced towards where Adam and Logan stood, Logan shifted nervously from foot to foot, trying to hide his growing fears and nerves. Berating within himself why he gave the release order, he concluded that it was a foolhardy thing to do.

He glanced around him looking for a way to sneakily escape but could find none. In an instant, the dogs that were fiercely growling suddenly started whimpering, with their tails wagging continuously, Logan watched in denial and unbelief as all the wild dogs suddenly became like tamed domesticated dogs as they laid on their front paws in Adam's presence, their tails wagging still. He incredulously stared as each of the dogs, used its head to rub on Adam's legs, asking for a pet.

To make matters worse, one of the pitbulls that was considered the ruthless one amongst all five laid on his back, all four paws in the air as he sought a stomach rub from Adam.

Even the onlookers were amazed and blown away, quite confused at the displays of the dogs.

"They say dogs can feel a genuine soul, maybe the man indeed is good, either that or he must be a dog whisperer"

One of them said as she looked on in surprise.

Logan didn't like this new development, the people were beginning to endear themselves to Adam, and the useless dogs had all turned to putty in his presence. He made to verbally attack Adam seeing as the dogs had all calmed down

"You despicable man, what do you thi…" Before he could finish talking, the dogs leapt to their feet, and began growling at him. Taken aback, he stepped back and he watched on in horror as Adam whistled to the dogs, who immediately went quiet, resuming their former positions once again, they were like dogs who had long seen their masters and were seeking for treats or praises from him.

Adam clearly had the upper hand now, with the dogs on his side, turning to scowl at both mother and son, he once again demanded to see his wife and child.

"Logan, you and your mother have had your phone ridiculing me to your benefit and the praises of your neighbours, but you are yet to respond to my question. Where is my wife and child? I would like to see them, after that I will be out of your face, hopefully for good this time."

Seeing as there probably wouldn't be any drama anymore, the passerby and onlookers began to disperse one after the other.

Logan felt defeated, but refused to give in nor let it show. Taking a quick look at his mother, he watched as she signalled to him to give Adam what he came for. He didn't fail to notice the hidden victory and gloating look in her eyes. He found himself wondering what the look meant, it finally clicked, and Logan's face mirrored that of his mother.

Calling out to Adam from where he stood afar, he haughtily responded

"Your wife, as you call her, is currently at Primewater Gardens restaurant. If you would like to see her, I highly suggest and advise you to hurry."
