CHAPTER SIXTEEN

Without hesitating, he knocked on the chipped door as he awaited a response. Not hearing anything, he knocked once again, a bit louder this time around.

He awaited albeit patiently as he began to hear the shuffling of footsteps from the house, and couldn't help the smile that appeared on his face in anticipation of seeing either his parents or siblings whom he hadn't seen in a long time.

Keys turned in the keyhole, and Adam impatiently shifted from foot to foot, after what seemed like years, though it was a few minutes the door opened and Adam sighed in relief and utter pain at the sight of his mother, at a hair breath, he flung the hat away and gazed at his mother with eyes of sadness and happiness.

She had gotten a lot older from the last time he had seen her, her hair had more streaks of grey in it and was thinning out, she looked more frail and her eyes looked sunken in, with a large amount of wrinkles on her face, he couldn't believe it was his mother before him. His heart
