Adam's ears were blocked to Stefan’s muffled screams of help and desperation, the only thing on his mind was getting help for Amber and getting her to quick recovery, he couldn't dare to think or imagine things not going well, he feared the worst if she didn't make it, without realising, Amber had crawled her way into his heart and affixed herself into it.
