CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED & THIRTEEN

Amber's coughs, initially quiet and strained, escalated into a horrifying cacophony. Each cough seemed to wrack her body, shaking her to the core until blood speckled her lips, bright and stark against her ruined skin, it was making it look even scarier. Adam was seething and blaming himself as he watched his beloved companion go through pain.

Stefan, amidst the unfolding horror, found a perverse joy. His laughter once filled with triumph, now echoed with madness,

"Look at her!" he crowed and stood with his hands akimbo, gloating and taunting; unable to contain his glee.

"She doesn't have long now. Oh, what a sight! This was meant for Adam, but, oh, how delightful it is to watch!"

He continued, his eyes gleaming maliciously,

"How does it feel, knowing you're the cause of her suffering?" He continued.

Adam, his heart sinking at the sight of Amber's agony, felt an icy grip of fear clutching at him. But as he caught Amber in his arms, his fear quickly turned to rage; a silent, deadly
