Chapter 6

Charles yelped in pain and quickly moved away, cradling his throbbing arm. He had clearly underestimated Quincy's strength and agility, despite the man's recent coma.

"How dare you touch me?' Charles sneered angrily at him. But Quincy's gaze was sharp, his expression one of pure hatred. "You never should have laid your feeble hands on me," he replied.

Grandmother noticed that both men were going to get into a fight soon if she didn't do anything about it. She stepped in and stopped Quincy before he created a scene. "You won’t tolerate such middle-class behavior in this banquet!" She shouted and told both men to step away from each other. "I have already made a plan to choose who will be the next CEO, so don’t bother fighting for it," she said firmly.

Quincy couldn't help the smirk that tugged at his lips. He was glad the opportunity was open to all - it gave him the perfect chance to ensure Kohler's rightful place. "I will make sure no one else takes it," he declared confidently. "Kohler will not marry anyone but me.”

Charles was pissed at his supposed charisma. But his arms still hurt, and he couldn't say anything. Beverly too was very mad that Quincy was ruining her daughter's only chance to help the family.

Unwilling to engage any further, Quincy gently took Kohler's hand and led her away, striding out of the banquet with his head held high.

Later that day, Quincy placed a call to his secretary. She was a very capable and committed woman and she always got the job done no matter what. "Do you have any information on my parent's death?" He asked plainly.

It was no longer new to him that his parents' death had been fishy. He made sure that the best detectives in the city and beyond were in on the case and trying to find out exactly what happened. "Sir, we have new information. We have discovered that four families are behind it," the secretary replied.

Quincy didn't even flinch, his mind was made up to find out exactly what happened to his parents. "What else do you know?" He asked coldly.

"These families wanted to get their hands on your family's wealth and that's why they murdered your parents," the secretary explained.

Quincy clenched his jaw. He had thought so too. There was no way that he would just let it slide. He had to find them and fish them out. "Gather all that you can about then, I want it on my desk in the next two days, is that clear?" He asked.

The secretary quickly replied that she would get it done at once. "Consider it done, sir," she replied curtly.

Quincy decided that the file would tell him what actions to take next, but first, he had to meet with the COO of a prestigious firm in the city, Herbal Corps. "I want a meeting arranged with the COO of herbal crops," he ordered her.

"Of course, I will do that at once, the COO is like nothing before you. He can't possibly deny a meeting with you. I'll make that arrangement right away," she assured him as he hung up.

In a few hours, he arrived at the company to meet with the COO. The lobby of the firm was quite huge and tastefully decorated. The walls were a pristine white and the chair in the waiting area looked rather comfortable.

However, as Quincy walked in, he saw someone that he least expected right there too. He was kind of surprised to see Charles in the lobby of the firm. He clearly had an appointment with the COO too but somehow the receptionist had kept them both waiting for such a long time without granting them access. He was getting rather impatient.

Charles was also waiting to see the COO of Herbal Corps. It turned out that his uncle had met with the COO at a party, and they were able to get in touch. All Charles had to do was speak with his uncle and then get an invite to the office to meet with the COO.

Surprised to meet Quincy at the firm, he gave him the most vile stare and then shortly after, it was his turn to speak with the receptionist. He walked boldly to the reception desk and the lady behind it looked at him with admiration. He was dressed in such fine clothes that she could evidently see that he was very rich.

"Hello, sir, you're welcome to the Herbal Corps firm," she said pleasantly to him, giving him respect because of his appearance.

"Hello, I would like to know if I can meet with the COO now," he asked, and the lady gave him a wide smile as she went ahead to check the appointment list of her boss.

Charles looked at Quincy bitterly again as he was being attended to by the lady. He didn't say anything, but his glare was enough to send the message.

Quincy decided that he'd waited enough, and he went to the desk to ask the receptionist when he could go in and meet with the COO too.

However, the lady looked at him condescendingly. His clothes were not as expensive as what Charles wore, and she didn't even bother to respect him. "Step aside, you are not invited into this place," she said to him in apparent disrespect.

Quincy looked at her closely, and he sneered at her, "You should be careful of your words, weren't you trained on how to receive guests here?" He asked.

The lady snickered at him, "Careful? Why should I be careful with a man like you?" She asked scornfully.

Quincy had heard enough of her insolence. Pulling out his phone, he placed a direct call to the COO himself. "Hello, I have been waiting out here at your firm for hours," he said stiffly.

The receptionist's eyes widened in alarm, realizing she may have overstepped. But before she could react, the COO's voice boomed through the line.

"Mr. Quincy! My apologies for the delay. Please, come right in. I've been expecting you."
