“I’m a nutjob, huh. Yeah, I was not able to see through you, so you can call me that,”

Denver sadly smiled, picking the ring off the floor.

It was a heart-shaped ring. Denver also had another such ring on his ring finger now.

The pre-engagement rings were worth around 500 dollars, which was not at all a small amount of money for Denver.

More than the monetary value, the emotional value these pre-engagements rings had in Denver’s mind was great.

They were supposed to be treasured for life, yet how could Diane toss the ring away like it’s nothing?

Did she really never love him? Not even like him?

Diane snorted and looked away.

“Hmph, go and find a monkey to put that ring on,”

Denver did not speak afterward.

As he was walking away, she went out of her way to say,

“Oh, I forgot. You have nothing in your name. Even a beggar wouldn’t want to marry you now.”

Denver did not talk back to them but just clenched his hands.

He just walked toward the main door, leaving behind a trail of blood drops on the white marble floor.

“Why did you say ‘trespassing’? I thought he bought the house?”

Stephen asked her while still smiling.

“That’s because this ISN’T his house,”

“My dad saved his life. Compared to that, what is this house worth?"

"He deserved what he got for not knowing his place, and hurting you.”

Diane said in a sly tone.

Stephen smiled.

“Thank you, sweetie.”

His eyes contained a trace of dark happiness, which meant that he was probably planning something bad.

Diane smiled back pleasantly.

“I should thank you, too, for giving my mom that million dollar check."

"She was all over the moon because she had never held a check worth that much. For making us happy…”

She came closer and whispered,

“I will make your little brother happy with my lips tonight.”

Stephen pulled her closer by the waist and roughly kissed her.

Both of them enjoyed it very much, not at all caring that Denver still didn’t leave the hall.

Denver’s gut twisted as he heard the filthy noises from behind him.

His expression turned stale as if his heart had gone numb.

He strode out of the house almost like a humanoid robot.

Wind blew past him, and he felt something that was in his pocket.

He took the box out. It was a gift he had prepared for his ex-fiancee.

There were exquisite diamond earrings inside.

However, right now, he did not want to look at gift anymore.

Without a shred of hesitation, he threw the box in the trash.

Beside the box, he felt something in his other pocket. He took the item out.

It was a bank card which was given to him by the pretty brunette he met at work that morning.

He had completely forgotten about this.

He took a good look at it now, and he could tell that it was not your regular bank card.

Made with quality materials, the card oozed out luxury and style distinct from regular ones.

It bore the name of a nationally renowned private bank, the Den bank, known for grandiosity and confidentiality, accepting deposits of tens of millions or more.

Denver noticed a strange but unique pattern on the card, identical to the one on the ring he wore when he was found and rescued by Uncle Richard.

“My past, huh…”

Denver remembered what the woman said earlier today.

This card could very well be a joke, but if it can provide answers, then it’s worth checking.

Can anything hurt him more than Diane?

As he approached the Den bank with suspicion in his eyes.

The security guard, who just woke up from his little nap, immediately stood from his stool and pushed Denver’s chest with the stun baton.

“Whoa, whoa, where do you think you’re going? You can’t enter the bank in these mucky clothes?”

“What’s wrong with my clothes? It’s not like they’re covered in mud. These are just an old pair I’ve been using for a while.”

Denver retorted.

the guard’s voice grew thicker, which disturbed the other clients that were around.

“I don’t care. Go back and come in decent clothing,”

“Stop kidding,”  Denver tried to walk past the guard, which angered him very much.

“Hey!”

The guard shouted and pressed the light stun button and thrust it toward Denver’s abdomen.

Denver instinctively stepped back and dodged the attack, but his gaze sharpened like that of a tiger on a hunt.

“What’s with that look? You think I’ll be scared of you?”

The guard pressed the full stun activation button and raised his hand high.

“What’s going on here?”

An assistant walked out, his tone annoyed.

“Why are you causing a scene during rush hour?”

He noticed Denver, looking him up and down with disdain.

“What do you want?” he asked coldly.

“I just want to check the balance on this card,”

Denver replied, pulling the card from his pocket.

The assistant barely glanced at it before sneering.

“What’s this? Who would put a dumb pattern like that on our bank cards? You think this is funny?”

With a flick of his wrist, he tossed the card back at Denver’s face.

“Get lost!”

He barked.

“We’re building a realistic torture chamber for a film shoot? And the pay is three times more than usual?”Richard’s friends were all very much excited to hear that.Richard told them that they should do it quietly and discreetly as the information about the torture chamber shouldn’t be leaked outside. As the work started, Richard didn’t know that their progress was being monitored by Sedrick through cameras.“He’s reliable,” Sedrick told his underling. “We could use him in the long run. While he’s doing our projects, teach him how to use a gun and some basic fighting techniques.”“Yes, Boss.”Sedrick checked his watch. “I’m going to meet an important person, so keep an eye on their progress and also observe their construction techniques.”“Sure, Boss.”Sedrick then left in his vintage Ford car. After traveling to another city, he stopped by a lone estate built on a cliff. There was no guard outside the gate.He pressed a button, and the door opened automatically. He walked on foot an

What Subrina had bought was a diamond bracelet. She expected Richard to pay, but he made her sell the diamond bracelet and then gave the money to the financiers. She had bought the bracelet for 10K, but she only received 9K when she sold it at the same store.Richard had to add 8000 dollars from his own pockets to pay the financiers in full.Forget about apologizing to Richard, Subrina was angry that he made her sell the bracelet.Richard bought a 450 dollar 18 carat bracelet and gave it to her.“A dog can’t work like a horse. A chicken can’t fly like a hawk,” Richard told her as he put the bracelet around her wrist. “I’m not saying we can’t even dream of buying a 10K bracelet, but we can only buy such items when we have the means to do so.”“And when will we have the means to buy those things?” Subrina asked back annoyedly. “Forget about gold ornaments, I don’t even have a proper make-up kit.”Richard frowned. What she meant by a ‘proper’ makeup kit was that she needed a costly one.

  • CHAPTER 661

This was the second time Richard was meeting Sedrick. The first time was when the project started, and now again. It’s been over two months, but Richard still remembered Sedrick’s face clearly. It wasn’t just because Sedrick was one-eyed but also because of all the illegal things being stored in the walls of the basement.Unlike today, Sedrick wore fashionable attire that gave off a fearless businessman vibe.Their meeting happened right outside the warehouse.Sedrick sat on the vintage Ford car’s hood and was smoking from a pipe.Even though it’s been a minute since Richard arrived, Sedrick did not say a word.Richard didn’t utter a word, either. He patiently waited.“The more I see you, the more I like you,” Sedrick said.“I-I don’t get what you’re talking about, sir,” Richard really did not understand Sedrick’s words. “If you’re not satisfied with my work, then don’t pay me in full. But if you are satisfied with the end result, then pay me as per the contract, including the double

  • CHAPTER 660

Richard drove his old car and arrived at an abandoned warehouse. His crew wasn’t there yet.“Tsk, they have a severe starting problem,” Richard thought. “I’ve gotta do something to kill their laziness so that our productivity will increase.”A vintage Ford Falcon stopped by.A one-eyed man stepped out of the car.“Are you Mr. Sedrick?” Richard went over to greet him, but Sedrick did not shake his hand.Richard felt a bit embarrassed, but he was quick to cover it.Good thing, no one else was watching.Sedrick handed out the construction plan to renovate the warehouse.“Reinforcing the walls, pillars, and fixing the ceiling…” Richard said. “All these can be done, but you want to build a hidden basement?”“Yeah. Why are you asking about it? Can’t you do it?”“It’s one thing to build a basement before the warehouse is built,” Richard explained, “but now, I need to find out if the warehouse will endure the construction of a basement.”“I need the job done as quickly as possible,” Sedrick g

The next morning.Catherine had the habit of waking up neither early nor late. She had her timings set, which was six o’clock. If the breakfast wasn’t done by then, she would help her mom. They didn’t talk to each other much as they would cook in a hurry because Richard would start yelling if the breakfast wasn’t prepared before seven. At the breakfast table.Catherine served food to her dad, and she was also eating with him.“Are you really planning on competing in swimming and running at a higher level?” Richard asked her.“Yes, Dad.”“You believe that you can get to the top?” Richard’s voice contained doubt. “One small injury can change everything, you know. You should at least get a degree first. I don’t have a degree, but I didn’t need one back in those days. However, things have changed now. You need qualifications to get decent jobs. It’s important to have back up, so don’t neglect your studies. And don’t have too many friends.”“I only have four friends, Dad. And I’m confident

CATHERINE’S POV:Many years ago.The corridor next to the pool was dim, lit only by the warm pulse of a single lantern hanging crooked on its hook.I didn’t mean to be there. I had forgotten her watch, so I came back to fetch it.It was something trivial.Something normal.I was about to enter a room, but I heard a laugh from the next room.It was a man’s laugh.“You’re doing it too hard, Diane,” his voice was unguarded, a sound no man should have been making in that room at that hour.On top of that, why did Diane’s name come out of that man’s mouth? It surely can’t be my sister, right? But then, I remembered giving a spare key to my sister a while back. That thought froze me for a second. My hand hovered mid-air, fingertips tingling. It can’t be my sister, I told myself.“What if someone comes and sees us?” the man stated.Another voice followed, husky and light. “If someone sees us, I’ll just drown them to death in the pool.”It was Diane’s voice.Chills thickly gripped my spine.A
