04. Young Master

As Jason slowly made his way to work, one thing kept replaying in his mind; the dreadful kiss.

When he walked in on his wife kissing another man, his heart was shattered. Not just because she cheated on him, but because she brought him to their home.

Lauren was the one paying for the apartment, the electricity bills, water and basically everything else. The house was even rented on her name and her account, so he had no rights. Under the law, it meant he was a tenant and she was the landlord, meaning she could throw him out whenever she pleased.

When he saw them, Jason was filled with anger. He marched angrily towards them but Lauren got between them. "What are you doing here?"

He looked down at his wife, his frown growing deeper. What was he doing at their house? The house where they lived, their matrimonial home.

"Lauren, who is this?" The man eyed him like he was a thief who had just broken into her home. "I thought you lived alone."

"I can explain." She replied with a forced smile, still shoving Jason on the chest. When he refused to budge, she grabbed his arm and led him outside. "What the hell is wrong with you?"

"With me? Are you fucking kidding me?! Who the hell is that man Lauren, and why the hell is he in my house?!"

"Your house?" Her face was blank but the message she was trying to pass was clear. It was her house, not his.

"Lauren–"

"You need to leave."

"What?"

"I know you heard me Jason, leave. You can come back later tonight and I'll explain everything to you but for now, just go."

What the hell was going on? His mind was spiraling in different directions, threatening to drive him bonkers.

"Go!"

He took one last look at the stranger seated like a king in his living room, then glanced at his wife before turning and he stormed off.

It had been four days since then and he still hadn't gotten his explanation. In fact, he had not seen his wife since that day and no matter how many times he called, she didn't answer, neither did she reply any of his text.

He even went over to her parent's house but he was 'warmly' welcomed by his brother in law instead. "What the hell are you doing here you loser?"

"Please I just want to see Lauren, is she in?"

"What are you, stupid? She left your house, refused to answer any of your calls and doesn't return any of them. What do you think it means?"

He knew exactly what it meant, he was just hoping that wasn't the case. Either she cheated on him or not, she was still his wife and Jason loved her very deeply. "Can you please just tell her I'm here?"

He was expecting a harsh reply or an insult, but what he wasn't expecting was the hard blow that landed on his cheek. "How dare you think you can come here and give me orders? You really have no respect for your brother in law!"

He could taste that saltiness in his mouth and he knew that he was bleeding. He spat out the fluid that soiled his taste. "Marcus, this really isn't the time for this. Just go in and–"

"I'm here." Lauren suddenly appeared by the door, an icy look on her face.

"Lauren, what the heck is going on? Do you have any–"

"I'm not ready to see you yet. Please leave." She said nothing more, instead she shut the door, leaving Jason more confused than he had been all his life.

Still buried in his chain of thoughts, Jason didn't notice the limousine that drove past him, parking a few meters away. Some men, all dressed in suits alighted from the vehicle and rushed towards him.

Jason froze as the men surrounded him, fear suddenly seizing his heart. He didn't know what they wanted with him and if he decided to run, he knew they could easily catch up to him.

"Are you Jason Paul Decker?" One of the men spoke up with a deep voice.

Jason stared at the men all dressed in black suits and dark shades, looking like casts from the movie MIB. "Who's asking?" His heart was pounding with fear but he was determined not to show it.

"We're from your grandfather, sir James Decker. He wants to know when you intend on taking over your father's business."

"My father's business?" Jason had no memory of his parents, or any family for that matter. All he knew was that he grew up in an orphanage before he left at the age of sixteen.

"Come with us sir." Another ordered.

Jason wanted to argue but the appearance of those men were intimidating so he had to oblige.

He was escorted into the limousine and they drove off. The drive was am extremely quiet one, except for the quick jerking of the car's tyres when it sped up or slowed down.

At a point he stared to wonder if he was being kidnapped? If that was true, who could be behind it?

His mother in law? Or the man Lauren cheated on him with?

At that thought, he remembered how his wife had betrayed him and his anger resurfaced. He thought she loved him, despite all his flaws, his shortcomings…but it turns out that he was wrong.

The car came a sudden halt, jolting him back to reality.

The intimidating strangers alighted the car and he hesitantly followed. When he saw the house in front of him, Jason couldn't hide his shock. It was the biggest house he had ever seen. In fact, it was more than a house. It was a mansion, a villa. Whoever owned such a building must have been a billionaire. Was it even possible for one person to own such a beauty alone?

A slender man walked out of the mansion, accompanied by an older, plump man and they made their way over to Jason, a broad smile on their faces.

The slender man was the one who got to him first and he pulled him into a hug. "It is so good to see you sire." Jason stiffened at the touch but he didn't back away. After a few seconds, the man pulled away and stared at his face, still smiling brightly. "Finally, our Young Master has returned home."
