Chapter 10: Come through

"What?" Derek couldn't believe it. "How could you use the backup money? You know how much this money means to the company. Or have you forgotten that the company is on the edge of going into bankruptcy?"

Ann felt a stab of annoyance at his words. "How dare you talk to me like that? Who are you to meddle in my family matter? Do you still believe you are married to my daughter, just keep living in the dream. You are nothing to us, so shut your fucking mouth!" She yelled in anger.

Derek shook his head briefly. "I will take anything ma'am but not this. I will not let you use the backup money. It's important to the company."

Derek's words annoyed Ann the more. She moved closer to him and gave him a slap across his face. "What insolent!" She stressed. She was almost red with rage. "It's none of your business. And don't you ever talk to me like that again or you will have yourself to blame. it's something we can handle. You aren't part of the family anymore, so you have no say in it. Besides, the president of Aircastle loves my daughter," she smiled softly, the frown suddenly out of her face. "My daughter will marry the handsome man and save the day."

Derek dragged his breathing. He couldn't believe it. Ann didn't even know he was the new president of Aircastle. "You must be kidding me if this is your plan. You aren't even sure if the new president would really want a divorced woman."

"It's not your business to worry about that. The president gave her a huge order which meant that he loves her. You should dwell in your misery alone, rather than wish failure for others!" Ann fired at him.

"Failure?" Derek scoffed. "You should focus on making your daughter's marriage better and not ruining it."

"What!" Ann's body shook with all the rage she could muster. She started to raise her hand, to slap Derek again but Kevin stopped her quickly.

"He's not worth it, Ann. You shouldn't care whatever he says, your daughter will definitely marry the new president. I assure you, I will work towards it," he promised.

Derek huffed. "What?" He exclaimed softly. "What the fuck are you guys talking about?'

Kevin turned to look at Derek after calming Ann down. "Now, look boy! You will mind the way you talk. Never mind, you will eventually believe it when we send you an invite to Amelia's wedding because I will make sure that it happens."

Derek wanted to tell them at that moment that he was the new president because he just couldn't believe what they were planning.

"What the fuck is happening here?" A voice boomed suddenly, just as Grey opened his mouth to say something.

Every gaze focused on a short man in a black suit, coming towards them. He had a dark frown on his face as he regarded them.

"Oh, you must be the manager," Ann said suddenly and looked at the man.

The man nodded once. "Yes, I am. What seems to be the problem here?"

"Well, this guy is causing a nuisance here. We wanted to buy the most expensive house here but he dared abuse us. How dare he insult us?"

The man softened at the explanation. He looked at Kevin. "You mean you want one of our expensive houses here?"

"Of course! Didn't you see the way we are dressed? Can it be compared to the way he is?" Ann muttered.

At her word, the manager looked at the clothes that Derek was wearing. His face formed an irritated expression as he gave Derek a deep scrutiny. Truly, Derek looked unfit and like a pauper.

The manager looked at Ann. "I'm so sorry ma'am," he turned to Kevin. "I'm so sorry sir. This will never happen again."

Derek's jaw dropped. "What? Aren't you going to ask me what happened? I mean, isn't that the normal thing to do?"

The manager stiff for a moment before he slowly turned to look at him. "I don't need to ask that question because I know who is really at fault here. Leave now before I call security on you!" He threatened.

Derek was taken aback. "How can you judge based on their words alone? That isn't fair!" He protested. "You are supposed to listen to my side of the story."

The manager regarded him for a moment. "You are stubborn."

"He is," Kevin cut in quickly. "He's not only poor but stubborn and also likes causing trouble. You have to drag him out of this place or you won't regret it," he warned.

Derek shook his head briefly, "That won't work," he pulled out his phone and dialled Sophia's number. "I'm going to show you that I have the right to be here."

"Fine, show is over!" The manager muttered and clasped his hands together. Three men rushed forward at this. They were dressed in uniform and it was easy to know that they were the security guards of the company. "Get this idiot out of this place immediately. Add violence where necessary."

The men nodded once but didn't say any word as if they were prohibited from doing that.

They stepped forward, hovering over Derek with one inch. Derek was tall but they were taller.

"Leave while we are still asking you nicely," one of them muttered.

Derek huffed. "Don't you dare touch me!" He forced out in between his teeth, just as Sophia picked up.

"Hello, boss. Is there anything I can do for you?"

"Yes, I_," he was forced to a sudden stop as one of the men aimed a blow to his face. He dodged it easily and looked back at the attacker. "Is this what you want us to do?"

The security guards didn't answer. Instead, two of them launched an attack at him at the same time.

"I'm in the lobby of Bellair!" Derek said quickly as one of the men punched the phone out of his hand just as Derek dodged another blow aimed at his stomach. Derek gave his own and kicked one by the feet so that he would fall.

Derek stepped back and stared at his damaged phone. "I'm going to make you pay for destroying my phone," he muttered in between clenched teeth and advanced towards the men.

"Derek?" A soft voice called suddenly, putting a stop to Derek's action.

Derek turned towards the path from where the voice came from and saw it was Sophia.
