Arriving at the mansion shortly after, Adrian is granted access to the compound as he mentioned that it was his grandfather who sent him over. He is ushered into the master suite where he meets with Ulrich. A short and stocky man meets him at the door. "Sir Ulrich is this way," the man said and led him inside the room. Adrian looked at the superb furnishing in a glance but his focus was on the tall and willowy man that looks very pale in the center of the bed.
His eyes are hidden behind a pair of large frames and there is a book in his hands. "Welcome, Adrian, your grandfather said that you would be coming to meet me," he said with what would have been a warm smile if his face wasn't so pale.
"Yes, I came to see you, I apologise that my grandfather has been rather busy," he stated apologetically.
Ulrich smiled and assured him that he understood. "Oh, I know how busy the business world can be, I had to take a break myself from all that stress," he stated softly.
Adrian nodded and asked the old man if he could examine him for a bit. The man agreed and Adrian went about to check his blood pressure, and his heartbeat and also asked for his previous reports from the nurse. Checking his physical symptoms, he knew at once that Ulrich was very sick and he needed urgent medical care.
He was just going through his reports, learning about his condition more clearly, he decided that he had to break the news to him but he didn't have the chance to. At this time, the door to the suite opened, and in walked someone that Adrian would never have expected to see. "Regina?" He breathed to himself as he saw her waltz into the room.
She was dressed in a floral gown and the servant behind her was wheeling a luggage. "Oh, grandfather, I had to come the second that I heard your health wasn't improving," she said in a sweet tone and kissed the old man's palm.
"Oh, darling, an old friend sent someone to visit me today," Ulrich said and gestured at Adrian who was still in the center of the room. He hadn't said a word since Regina arrived.
Regina glared at him but mentioned that she knew him or they had once been married. "You should be careful of those that visit you when you're sick, grandfather," she said and scowled at Adrian.
"Oh don't worry. He's a good lad. It's my good friend, Gerald, that sent him here. He even took my reports and also checked my symptoms," he stated.
"Which reminds me, I was about to tell you that your health situation is twice as bad as you believe. The doctors have not been taking your condition seriously. All your symptoms show that you need urgent medical care and you should be taken to the hospital," Adrian stated, looking at the reports again.
"But the doctors have been coming to give me my meds daily, they have also changed my diet and all," the old man said.
Adrian shook his head, "You will need a lot more than that. You need to be under a professional who will be able to give you the right prescriptions and you may also need surgery. But if you wish, I could cure you," he stated.
That was when Regina decided that she'd heard enough. In all the years that she'd been married to him, she never knew that he had any talent with medicine and so she didn't believe him at all. "Are you mocking my grandfather? What do you know about health?!" She snapped angrily.
"That is irrelevant. All you need to know is that the doctors aren't doing a good job and Mr Ulrich might be getting worse," Adrian stated.
Regina snapped at him to keep shut. "You're just a shameless man! How dare you try to take advantage of my grandfather? Adrian, you know nothing about medicine!" She snapped.
"What are you talking about, dear? Do you know this man?" Ulrich asked. Regina itched to tell her grandfather that she knew him and he was no better than a bum on the street.
"Grandfather, please believe me when I say that such a low-class person could never know about your condition. He has no experience in the medical field and he's just here trying to take advantage of you and mock you," she said angrily and glared at Adrian.
"How would you know that, Regina? You have just arrived to visit him, do you know the state of his health?" He asked her with a raised brow.
"Nonsense! I don't have to be here to know that my grandfather is in safe hands, we have hired the best of doctors just to make sure that he is alright. You can't know better than those doctors, you're just a gold digger and a liar! I don't know what grandfather's friend would send you down here!" She snapped.
Adrian looked at her, he remained calm despite her angry and insulting nature. "I bet you that in just a few days, a week at most, your grandfather will spit blood and faint. His sickness will get even worse," he said and with that, turned to leave her suite. Being in the same room with Regina made him pissed. He couldn't stand her ignorance and condescending behaviour.
Ulrich was too weak to say anything, he leaned back on his bed and pulled off his glasses. Regina rubbed his hands and told him he'd be fine.
As Adrian walked out, Regina sneered at him angrily "I will make you regret coming here," she said in a cold tone. She quickly pulled out her phone and dialled her father who was also a very rich and powerful man. "Dad, there is someone here who is trying to make a fool of grandfather because of his sickness," she said.
Her father sounded mad over the phone and asked at once who that was. Regina smirked as she replied, "It's Bryan, I want him to be taught a lesson! He must learn to be afraid of the Lawson family."
The auditorium was decorated with the most exquisite design. It was the wedding of the famous and impeccable Miss Regina Lawson and she was going for the best. Adrian arrived at the wedding wearing a casual white shirt and a pair of black trousers. Although he was quite smartly dressed for the occasion, he found out upon arrival that he was too underdressed.Everyone else was flamboyantly dressed in an almost dramatic manner but even Adrian wasn't surprised, after all, it was his ex-wife they were talking about, she was the mistress of drama and extravagance. Just as she walks through the front door, his eyes meet with one of Regina's friends. He can look away quickly but it seems that she recognizes him instantly scowling, she walks away briskly and he watches her walk to the front seat and tell Regina of his arrival. Adrian turned away from her and ignored her act completely as he mingled in the crowd. Everyone who attended the event seemed to look at him oddly like he'd done So
Regina stares at the screen, wiping the fake tears that she'd cried earlier off her face. "How could you do this to me?!" She snapped. Meanwhile, Richmond was already staring at her with disgust as soon as he saw the video on the screen. "How could you do something like that? Is this really who you are? So this just wasn't with me but with other men?!" He asked all at once. Regina tried to explain to her new husband but the whole crowd seemed to be loud gong playing right into her skull. "Adrian! You have ruined my life!" She yelled and rose up, pointing at him and abusing him thoroughly. But all she said served to make the crowd even more agitated. There was no way she could stand against the whole room when they were already against her. "You thought you had your lies figured out, right?" Adrian asked with a smirk. It was his own time to mock her, but he wasn't just going to waste his words at her, he was allowing the crowd to do their job. "I will make you pay!" Regina snapped
Adrian walked into his apartment with a smile on his face, and a sense of victory engulfed all over his body, “that serves her right,” he said as he picked up a bottle of wine from the wine stand, he gulped down a glass as the alcohol hits him in the right places, he breathes a sigh of relief. He turned on his cell phone to see the news highlight, “news does spread like wildfire,” he smirked as he read the news “BREAKING NEWS: NEWLY WEDDED COUPLE IN TURMOIL AFTER GROOM WAS FOUNDED GUILTY OF TAX EXASION, EMBEZZLEMENT AND ILLEGAL SALES OF GOLD WHILE WIFE AN ADULTERESS.” “They do make a perfect couple after all like minds work together,” his attention shifted to the incoming phone call,“Hello...” the breaths on the other side of the phone call made him happy,“Grandpa, are you not going to say a word to me?” he chuckled a bit,“What exactly do you want me to say, my darling boy?”“To what do I own a phone call from you, my dearest grandfather?”“Oh please, save yourself the pleasantries
News spread like wildfire upon the return of MARK JOHNSON’S GRANDSON, the heir to the multi-billionaire JM CORPORATIONS, there will be a ball to welcome his return, the news got to the ears of Regina as she sought a plan to seduce the grandson and take away her misery.“Since it's a masked ball, it will be easier for no one to recognize me, my family has disowned me because of that bastard Adrian but with my charms, I’m sure to win the heart of the man, I need to make a comeback to make Adrian life a living hell,” Regina said to herself as she looked for the perfect gown for the ball tonight.“Do you have to do all this Adrian?” a tall handsome young man was seen dressing in an expensive tuxedo.A smirk plastered on Adrian’s face as he helped the young man dress, “Yes Lucas, you’re my best friend and you saw what she did to me these past few months and no one knows you, only I and Grandpa, besides she’s a pawn in my chess board which I’m ready to make her life a living hell.”“You scar
After Regina ran out from the ball, the party nevertheless continued as everyone was trying to get on the good side of the supposed heir of the JM EMPIRE, Adrian’s grandfather tried his best to hide the fact that he wasn’t happy that someone else was impersonating his grandson but what could he do? He had already promised his boy that he would manage for the main time.“Grandpa, don’t let your smile fall, we don’t want people to be suspicious, now do we?” Adrian whispered to his grandpa who in return snickered back at him, “That should have been you, not Lucas,” they both looked at Lucas who was trying his best to maintain his composure with his unwanted guest.Lucas excused himself and walked up to Adrian and his grandfather, “Adrian, why do you think little Miss Cheater left the party in haste?”“Probably because she was humiliated and embarrassed by my humble grandpa here, who did not even cut her some slack,” “I hate the sight of cheaters especially the ones who still try to act
Things haven’t been easy for Regina, especially when it came to job hunting, no matter where she went, no one seemed to take her seriously, and one mistake had totally ruined her life. To her utmost surprise, her grandfather's bills have all been cleared and they need not worry about any medical expenses.Luckily for them, they still had their home, so they need not worry about a roof over them but getting a job to feed them was a hassle.“Any luck?” Regina’s mom asked her while preparing their lunch, Regina shook her head disappointed, “I couldn’t even land myself a cleaning job, Richmond completely left us with nothing and he’s in jail,” she said with a hysterical laugh.Regina’s mom looked at her with a disappointed look, “How I wish I never supported you maybe just be life would easy for at least some of us in this house.”Regina scoffed at her mother’s words, “Mom, you were much as greedy as I was, when you noticed that Richmond was much richer, you didn’t even think twice, you w
Regina was in her room, pacing around as she placed her index finger on her lower teeth, biting it a little, and thinking of exactly what to do.“I guess I have no choice than to see that son of a bitch!” I uttered sharply under my breath.Immediately, she wore something more comfortable, and that could aid her to be really fast when she had to, then she hurriedly stepped out of her room.“Where are you heading to?” Her mother asked, looking curious. But Regina was in no mood to answer her question, so she dashed out of the house.“Taxi!” She voiced out as she waved her hand to get the attention of the taxi driver. As the cab got closer to her, she got in and gave him the address to the station.“Would you like me to entertain you with a song?” he offered, with a smile that she could see, from the front mirror.“There’s no need. Just…speed up, please.” Regina urged him, and looked out the window, feeling restless.Regina didn’t need anyone to tell her the kind of person Richmond could
“Get down, right now!” One of the men voiced out, aggressively.“Do we really need to tell them to get down, or we can just drive them off to our location.” Another goon, suggested as they all pointed their guns at us.“Yeah, that’s true.”Lucas and I exchanged looks, and before we knew it, the hefty men brought Lucas and me down and shoved us into the back seat of the car.“This is why you should get a security patrol or whatever,” Lucas whispered, feeling a little scared. He was right. If I had security guards who followed me every single place I went to, it would have been much better. In a case like this, even if they were not able to win against these hefty men, we would have escaped as they would have given us enough time to escape.“Who are you, and what do you want with us?” I asked as two more men joined us at the back, and squeezed us in the middle like we were nothing.“Oh, come on. Do you really think we’re going to tell you? Now, to dash all your hopes, we aren’t going to
