chapter 3 : The crazy receptionist

After the encounter with the man at the restaurant, Mason took a cab, as he had decided earlier that he would be spending the night at the hotel given that it was already too late to return back to the hostel.

Since he now has the money, he sees no reason why he shouldn't go to a seven star hotel for the room so he asked the cab driver to take him to the best seven star hotel around.

The cab dropped Mason at the foot of the gigantic hotel, which could be seen towering a couple of commercial buildings in the vicinity.

With his work uniform still clinging to his body, Mason walked into the hotel and just like the restaurant of earlier, he could see the high class of people moving with elegance all around the place.

This was a hotel or rather a place Mason had never thought he would be stepping foot on anytime soon.

Darting his eyes all around the place Mason quickly located the receptionist who was standing behind the desk, her white sleeve t-shirt was well pressed and her dark hair glistened as it was tied backwards into a ponytail.

As Mason got closer to her, he could see she was putting on a medicated glasses which rested slightly above her nose.

" Evening miss." He greeted her with a smile to gain her attention.

The lady whose eyes were on the system in front of her, raised her head up to see who just called her."

" How may I help you?" She didn't even bother returning any form of greeting back to Mason, instead she just went ahead with her question.

Mason wasn't bothered either about her response, instead he spoke. "I'm here to book a room for the night " mason said giving the most normal smile he could muster at the moment.

Even with how beautiful this said receptionist was, Mason couldn't deny the fact that he saw a flash of disdain in her eyes as she stated at him, this was a regular reaction he gets from people.

"There are no available rooms for the night " the receptionist replied, pushing the glasses more above her nose.

Hearing this, Mason frowned, it was just not possible as he knew quite alright that there are over 150 rooms in this hotel, and there was no way all the rooms would have been occupied. All his years as a delivery guy would have been a waste if he doesn't even know how many rooms are in this hotel.

"What do you mean by there are no rooms available at the moment?" He asked,

"You heard me right and I don't think there is any need for me to repeat myself again." She replied curtly.

" There is a need for you to reply to me. All the rooms here should be over 150 so what do you mean by no single rooms are left vacant?"

"You're not going to teach me my work, because I'm aware of the number of rooms here and when I said there are no rooms available for the night, then just accept it and leave!" She said without even bothering to look at Mason again.

Staring at the receptionist for a while, Mason decided he would have to take his leave knowing that there was absolutely nothing he could do about the situation. He just doesn't want to drag any issue tonight as he had have enough problem today so leaving quietly was the only better option he could think of

Just as Mason turned around to leave, taking a few steps forward, he suddenly came face to face with the bald headed big tummy man who had purposely pushed him out of the way back at the restaurant. Upon seeing this man, Mason frowned as he stepped to the side watching him.

He watched as the man walked up to the lady behind the desk and asked for a room. As soon as the receptionist saw the man, her face broke into a wide smile like that of a child who had just been given her favorite candy.

Mason watched as the receptionist, who had told him that there were no vacant rooms for the night, brought out a key and handed it over to the man.

Seeing this, Mason's eyes burned in anger and he subconsciously tightened his fist as he angrily stormed towards the receptionist, and with a tone filled with anger Mason spoke.

" You clearly told me that there were no vacant rooms left so how in the name of Adam was there a vacant room for him," Mason said pointing at the man who had clearly heard Mason but had decided to ignore and walk away with a contemptuous look on his face.

This action had even made Mason's blood boil at a high degree as he was seen shooting daggers with his burning gaze towards the man who could already be seen walking away.

The next word of the receptionist was one that went right through Mason's flesh and hit him directly in his bones.

" isn't it obvious that this is a seven star hotel and not a place for trash? How can a mere bread delivery guy like you want a room in a luxury seven star hotel like this? What a joker. " She mocked

It was at that point realization hit him, that statement had made Mason realize that he was still in his bread delivery uniform, and after a brief inspection of his own body, Mason raised up his head and stood his ground.

" Where is it stated that a bread delivery worker can't get a room at a seven star hotel, if there is none then I demand you hand over a key to me, I still want a room here " Mason said firmly as he glared at the receptionist. Although he had actually intended not to get involved in any commotion today, he couldn't bear it any longer as he felt greatly insulted by the receptionist. Who does she think she is?

Staring at the man before her, the receptionist was already feeling unsafe as she was beginning to think that a lunatic had somehow escaped and found himself in a seven star hotel.

She was already beginning to panic, and with a speed only used for times of emergencies, she quickly began to call the securities. All she wanted right now was for this man to be dragged out of the hotel.

The whole situation got heated and people were beginning to stare, the little commotion was beginning to gain more and more attention and somehow it had gotten the attention of one of the higher ups.

A middle aged man in a suit, with well trimmed beards which ran from his ears to his chin could be seen arriving at the scene, this man was none other than the manager of this hotel.

" What's going on here? " the manager said as soon as he arrived, trying to keep the situation as low-key as possible.

Before Mason could speak, the receptionist had already started talking, she explained how Mason had demanded for a room and which she had told him that there was a room but then he had complained that he was not having sufficient funds to pay for the room and this was of course a lie she had cooked up to make Mason look like the mad man she had introduced him to be.

Mason watched as the manager nodded in agreement to what the receptionist was saying. After she finished talking, Mason decided it was time to explain himself , but before he could do that , the manager shushed him up clearly, not allowing Mason to say a word.

Following the eyes of the manager Mason saw the disdain and irritation in his eyes, he looked Mason from the hair on his head to the sole of his feet, staring at Mason's clothes in disdain, the manager felt this man shouldn't have been allowed to step foot in the hotel premises in the first place .

And after a disdainful look at mason, the manager felt Mason shouldn't only be thrown out of the hotel but he should also be beaten mercilessly so that in his next life he would know better not to walk into a place which was clearly above his standard.

"She's right, you shouldn't be at such a place." The manager said.

" What the hell do you mean I shouldn't be at such a place? In Fact what right do you have to say that?" Mason asked, looking completely upset. It annoys him so much seeing how the man didn't ask for his side of the story before coming to a valid conclusion. To him, such a person like the manager shouldn't be given the post of a manager as he has nothing to do other than to side with one person which is so wrong.
