chapter 4 : It is all a misunderstanding

In the reception area of a particular seven star hotel a commotion was going on just beside the reception desk, people could be seen leaving all what they were doing as their eyes had now been focused on the ongoing commotion.

Although the people were not much, they were intrigued and interested in knowing what was going on, a commotion like this is something you might never come across in a seven star hotel like this.

A man who was dressed in a bread delivery uniform together with a lady who was seen standing behind a desk dressed in corporate wears and also another man with beards putting on a black suit were the three people who were at the center of this commotion.

At this point Mason's blood was already heating at a high altitude as he had been trying to argue and prove that all what the receptionist had said about him earlier were nothing but lies, but even with how convincing he was the manager was already far bent on kicking Mason out of the hotel.

Looking at the receptionist, Mason could swear that he had caught a satisfied smile on her face, a smile of victory, one that indicated that she was actually enjoying what was happening to him.

The receptionist sneered at Mason's angry expression, she felt completely proud for what she had done, she was satisfied that the manager wasn't lenient on Mason instead he had been aggressive, putting all effort to throw him out of the hotel.

At that exact moment almost the same thought was going through the manager's mind, he was also proud that he was kicking out a nobody like Mason out of the hotel, to him it wasn't a good omen for a low levelled individual like Mason to make an appearance at a seven star hotel like this one, according to the manager, it was an insult to the reputation of the hotel.

Just when the commotion was getting hotter, a cell phone rang, the manager quickly excused himself from the commotion as he had heard the familiar ringtone of his phone, after picking up the call, the manager pressed the fancy looking cellphone to his right ear.

He had seen the name of the caller, and somehow he was beginning to wonder why this person would be calling at a time like this, but then he still decided to answer the call, not like he could ignore it anyway.

As soon as he answered the call, the person on the other end of the line began to speak, and as the person spoke, the manager's eyes began to widen with a face filled with shock, disbelief, guilt and then he could be seen nodding his head as his mouth went dry and he began to utter a particular statement over and over again" ok sir I will do just that "

The phone finally ended and the manager could be seen rushing over to the center of the commotion, his eyes still holding the mixed expression of shock, disbelief, guilt and fear,

He knew if he went against the orders of his boss he would likely be fired. His boss was a no-nonsense man, he was strict man, a man of his words and the manager knew better not to step on his toes.

The manager knew loosing his job was something he couldn't allow to happen right now, he knew getting a job these days was very difficult, so it was better to secure the one he had now than to be sorry later. Which was why right now he would follow orders and do exactly as he was told.

Even if it meant that he would apologise to this guy and treat him like a king, he would do just that and anyone who dare steps in the way would face the music.

As he arrived, everyone quickly cleared the part for the man as they could see the urgency written all over him, his face which previously held alot of disdain towards Mason was now switched to guilt and fear.

That was not all, as what the manager did next left everyone speechless. As soon as he got to Mason, the once arrogant manager quickly fell to his knees, eyes filled with guilt as a stream of sweat could be seen dripping down his face soaking his inner white sleeve t-shirt in the process despite the freezing air conditioner which was continuously cooling the whole place.

' What would really put a man like this in this situation.' this was the question going through the people's head.

While still on his knees, the manager bowed, he quickly touched Mason's feet with shaky hands, he was so tense that he could feel his own heartbeat pounding in his chest giving off the feeling that it would explode at any giving moment. he knew if words about what had happened here in the hotel got to his boss he would be screwed and that might be the end of him being a manger, so right now he knew better and all he needed to do was to lower his pride and apologize to this man

" Spare me please , I'm sorry , I'm so sorry , I never knew , I never knew, please find a place in your heart to forgive me " the manager pleaded as he continued bowing with his hands still touching Mason's feet. At this point he was clearly regretting all that he had done to Mason.

It had been that the person who had called the manager a moment ago was his boss and the man had told him that a young man who was putting on a delivery cloth was at their hotel and he should be treated with respect as he was a powerful man and if he did otherwise he would be sacked from his position without a second thought.

All the people around couldn't believe their eyes, the manager of the most popular seven star hotel was right in front of them kneeling and bowing to a commoner, not just a commoner but a bread delivery man, It was something you don't come by on a daily.

At first seeing this drastic change of actions from the manager, Mason was shocked and totally confused, a man who was ready to throw him out of the hotel a minute ago was now kneeling below in front of him and rubbing his feet, begging for mercy.

But then with all that had happened that evening , this was not so surprising, a single call had just humbled the manager to this point.

" Get up " Mason said looking at the manager, who quickly dusted his knees and got back up to his feet not before saying thank you.

" It is all a misunderstanding sir, I'm really sorry for all that had happened here today, for all the inconvenience you have received " the manager said.

" Do you still want a room ? " He asked

" Of course I do " Mason replied with a straight face.

Turning to the receptionist who now looked like she had seen a ghost, as her mouth was still hanging open from the shock, the manager spoke.

" Prepare the best presidential suite for this man and be quick about it" the manager instructed and the already shocked receptionist was stunned as she couldn't believe the turn of event, everything was just happening fast that she just couldn't put two and two together.

She stood there dumbfounded, with different thoughts flooding inside her head, what was really happening, has the manager been threatened or what, who would even have the guts to threaten a man of a high league like the manger.

But on a second thought she knew the manager's attitude actually changed right after receiving the call from earlier. which only meant the person who had called the manager earlier was definitely the cause of the manager's behavior.

This was only making her blood boil and she began to ask her self questions, was all her effort to throw this low life of a man out of the hotel ruined?, She found herself grinding her teeth in anger, something like this had never happened before so why now.

Everything happened so fast, because the next thing the receptionist felt was a heavy palm connecting to her left cheek, it came unexpected that it had made her stagger backwards almost falling to the ground as she was only able to balance herself by holding on to her desk.

She held her left cheek which was now a bright red staring at the manager who had just slapped her across the face bringing her out of her trance.
