At exactly 11:30 a.m., Kelvin stood right in front of the courtroom, sipping from his canned water. His divorce with Katherine had just been finalized in the courtroom a few minutes earlier.
No one was happier than Mariana, as she smiled sheepishly and basked in the rising sunlight. One would think she had received a medal, for putting so much effort into destroying her daughter's marriage.
Katherine had arranged herself to return home, when she spotted Kelvin standing right by the far end of the building, sipping his water like he didn't care.
She plodded in his direction, with her hands folded across her chest.
"Hey," she greeted, and Kelvin waved his hand like he didn't know who she was.
"Uhh! You've got a moment?" She asked, forcing a smile on her face.
"I definitely don't want to waste it on you, so you can go…" Kelvin retorted carelessly.
"Can you please listen to what I have to say?" She said, raising her voice.
"Gosh! Katherine, you wanted to divorce, I've given you what you wanted. Now I want you to fucking leave me alone. Besides, where is Duncan?"
"Why aren't you guys married already? He should've come with you, so you guys can get married immediately after we complete the divorce."
"Or maybe he doesn't give a damn about you anyway. I wouldn't blame him. No man wants to marry a fucking gold digger, or a bitch."
Kelvin spoke so harshly to her. She tightened her grip on her long red gown and gasped softly. A flush of red spread across her cheeks, a telltale sign of her inner guilt.
"Kelvin, please, listen to what I have to say." She pleaded her voice like a whisper.
"Alright, spill. You've got my attention this one time," Kelvin announced, his gaze facing the bare street.
"Not here Kelv, Let's talk in the car. Please." She pleaded.
Kelvin stared at her for a few seconds, but he granted her the chance. They entered the car, and Katherine turned on the engine and drove off before Kelvin could know what was happening.
"Where the fuck are you going? I never agreed to go anywhere with you. Stop the fucking car, now!" Kelvin yelled, but she wouldn't listen.
She stepped on the gear and fired speedily towards the rural area.
They came to a stop, by the corner of a closed abandoned field. The area was quiet and peaceful, it was just red sand throughout.
"What the fuck are we doing here?" Kevin asked and alighted from the car. He darted his eyes around and glanced at Katherine who had joined him on the hood of the car.
"It's quiet out here, people don't normally come down here, Let's talk."
"So you brought me out here just to talk?" Kelvin asked.
"Just shut up and listen, Kelvin! Look, I'm very sorry for the way I did what I did. I know I hurt you, and I'm sorry OK? It was never my intention. I just didn't have a choice." Katherine said apologetically.
"So what am I supposed to do with this apology of yours?" Kelvin asked.
She sighed and dipped her hand into her gown pocket. She brought out a debit card and handed it over to him, making him stare at her with a confused expression.
"I deposited some money into this account, take it, and leave this city immediately. Duncan is coming for you, and I don't want him to hurt you." She spoke in a soft tone, her eyes locked on Kelvin's.
Kelvin glanced at the card, and then back to her. "What's the meaning of this, do I look like I need your money? What exactly do you take me for Katherine? A beggar huh?" He snapped angrily.
However, Katherine felt bad for what she did. She only wanted to redeem herself, though she never truly regretted her move.
She was after money and power, and wouldn't mind doing it all over again if it would get her what she wanted.
"Kelvin please, do this for me." Duncan will hurt you, and I don't want that for you. You can't fight him, he is rich and powerful." Katherine said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Kelvin burst into laughter on hearing her words.
"Stop pretending like you give a damn about me Katherine. As for your little boy Duncan or whatever his name is, he has no idea what he is up against. I'll deal with him."
"You don't understand Kelvin."
"Oh yes! I do understand Katherine. Fuck it, I'm outta here." He said and turned to leave on foot, ignoring her plea, but she held him back.
She leaned on him, their faces crashed together. She could feel his hard breath all over her face. She placed her hand on his chest and edge closer to his lips.
Their eyes locked on each other's, and Kelvin parted his lips. His eyes filled with so much desire. Katherine sensed how vulnerable he was, and a low smile escaped her mouth in admiration.
"I love you Kelvin, nothing has changed. I hope you can understand why I did what I did. I never enjoyed hurting your feelings."
"Yet, I know I've hurt you badly, and I'll forever regret it. You'll probably never forgive what I have done, No problem, I understand." She spoke with a broken voice, filled with pain and regrets.
Kelvin gasped and wrapped his hands around her waist. He pressed her to himself dominantly, and she pouted her lips, letting out a low smile.
"Yeah! you can take me as a slave this time, but promise me that you'll leave Vancouzer thereafter." She spoke in his mouth, her gaze fixated on his eyes.
On hearing this, his facial expression changed. He pulled away from her and retreated a little. All his desire for her withered away immediately.
"How dare you try to manipulate me emotionally?" He roared angrily.
"Is this what you've become Katherine? What makes you think I still see something in you? As far as I'm concerned, you're nothing but a gold-digging slut."
Kelvin snapped at her, his gaze fierce and filled with disgust. She buried her eyes on her lower body in embarrassment, not knowing what else to do.
"And for your information, I ain't going anywhere. I'll wait to see what your so-called Duncan can do, you crazy betraying bitch!" Kelvin cursed, but she didn't get angry.
She felt humiliated upon hearing Kelvin's words. Her eyes became teary, as she raised her head to his terror-stricken expression.
"I didn't betray you Kelvin. You don't understand, believe me." She said to him with teary eyes, but he didn't feel pity for her.
"You disgust me, Katherine! I always thought I found the best woman in the world, but nah!!!" He retorted.
He turned to walk away, he had run out of words, but she rushed to him, and grabbed his shirt.
"Kelvin please," she cried. She fell on him and buried her face on his chest.
She pulled back and tried to kiss him, but he pushed her to the ground like she was nothing.
When she raised her head, she saw him walking away drastically.
She stood up from the ground and entered the car. A drop of tear escaped her eyes, as she looked at him from her side mirror.
No matter how hard she tried to control her emotions, she burst into uncontrollable tears. "I'm sorry…" she muttered to herself amidst hot tears.
It was Friday morning, and the bustling city of Vancouzer was booming, as people went about their various daily activities like nothing else mattered. Kelvin rode his bicycle speedily down the road. He was late for work, and he knew his boss wouldn't take it easy with him. On reaching the small company, sitting in the rural street, two police vehicles were lying in wait, right in front of the company. He couldn't help but wonder what was going on.He packed his bicycle and sauntered towards the door. On entering the company building, all eyes fell on him. His heartbeat increased as he began to panic, wondering what he had done. "Kelvin," an unfamiliar voice called him from behind. He turned around and saw a giant man in a police uniform. He was about 5.9 feet tall, his muscles pushed out of his uniform, displaying his scary nature. "You're Kelvin right?" The police officer inquired."Yes, that's my name." Kelvin retorted confidently. His gaze showed confusion."You're under arre
Inside the police quarters, Kelvin was left alone in a quiet room. He had a dull face reminiscing about what Katherine had told him back in the field. He should've listened. Could it be Katherine who wants to punish him for refusing her sexual advances? Who was the young man laughing at him back in the company, as the police took him away? Different thoughts occupied his mind. The door flung open, and 3 policemen entered the room with a file. Kelvin glared at them, knowing very well that he was innocent of the accusations."Have you come to make a bluff, officer?" Kelvin asked, showing no sign of anxiety. A weird smirk covered his face, as he shifted his gaze from one of the policemen to the other."Listen to me Kelvin, I know you're stubborn, but trust me, it won't help you here.""We're the only ones who can save you from going to jail. All you have to do is admit the truth, that you stole the Strongbox." The policeman with the file said to him. Kelvin raised his head and furrowed
Kelvin sat down on a wooden chair, his hands and legs bound with a strong rope. Blood oozed out of his mouth, as he faced the ground, trying to catch his breath.Duncan and Johnny had beaten him mercilessly, while the two policemen in the room just watched, till he fainted. They left him to wake up from slumber, before they would continue. When Kelvin woke up, he was bleeding from every angle of his body. He darted his eyes around, praying no one would notice he had woken up. But unfortunately, one of the policemen saw him and announced it to the others.Kelvin gasped in fear, seeing Duncan marching towards him. Duncan wouldn't stop trying to get Kelvin to admit that he stole the Strongbox.Once Kelvin has accepted, he would cast him to jail, and make sure he never sees the sunlight in the outside world again. But Kelvin had proved to be stubborn. "You're awake now boy. Let's talk, before you undergo more series of punishment," Duncan said, staring mockingly at Kelvin. Kelvin star
Sudden silence engulfed the room. Kelvin gazed at the crowd standing before him with satisfaction in his eyes. He let out a low smile, and frowned his face, feeling like the boss.Duncan couldn't take his gaze away from Kelvin. "Who the fuck is he? Is he that influential?" Duncan kept questioning himself in his thoughts, wearing a confused expression on him.He darted his eyes around and caught Pamela's gaze fixated on him. He quickly shifted his eyes to his father, who stared at him in disgust."Somebody get this fucking ropes off me!…" Kelvin commanded. The policemen plodded towards him with trembling legs. They quickly untied him, and gave his space. Kelvin stood up and raised his shoulders, feeling like the boss. He collected a handkerchief from one of the men, and wiped the stains of blood on his lips. The whole crowd had their gaze fixated on him, but he ignored everybody's eye. When he was done cleaning up, he raised his head and smirked at Duncan and Johnny, who stood with f
5 hours later, Kelvin was lying on his hospital bed alone. Everybody had gone, including Pamela. He fixated his gaze on the roof, reminiscing about things he had missed since he eloped with Katherine. Immediately, a knock came on the door, and Katherine entered. She wore a gloomy countenance as she stepped into the room. Her gaze was on Kelvin, she stared at him sorrowfully, due to his condition. She never expected Johnny to associate with such a plan of Duncan's, so she didn't care to plead on his behalf."Hey Kelv," she greeted, but he gave her a clumsy look, and returned his gaze to the ceiling like she wasn't there. She sighed and sat on the chair close to his bed. Her gaze traveled from his head to toe, assessing the wounds her brother, and her lover inflicted on him. "How're you feeling now?" She asked in a soft tone, she blamed herself for everything that had happened. All this is happening because of the one choice she made. A glimpse of what happened back at the police q
Katherine got home paranoid and confused. Kelvin's change of status was a huge blow, and she was struggling to accept the new development. She sat on the sofa, trying to wrap the whole situation in her head, "who exactly is he? What if he is the new Chairman Pamela spoke of? She questioned herself, like someone was out there who could hear her.Her heart began to race, if Kelvin eventually became the chairman, her job as the manager of the Fubris Company wasn't safe. She gasped softly, trying to calm herself. A sharp pain struck her head, and she cried out in pain. Over the past few days, she had been overthinking and overworking as well, just to impress Pamela, and now Kelvin's arrival in the company was looking genuine. How will she look him in the eye every day she goes to work? She laid down on the sofa to rest a little and free her mind from worries. But a call from Pamela woke her up immediately, bad timing it is. She sighed on seeing the caller. She dropped the phone back on
It was 9 p.m., in Boston, the Capital city of Euphoria. Kelvin and Pamela had got to the family house a few hours ago. The house was deserted, except for the presence of security men and servants.Kelvin was sitting in the sitting room, waiting patiently for the arrival of his big family. Pamela joined him shortly, and just in time, horns from different cars sounded from outside. They both smiled at each other, the house was about to book again. There was never a boring time in the Woodluck family home, not when Kelvin was present. But now that he had returned, a lot had changed."Where is he? Where is my son?" A deep masculine voice roared happily, his excitement could be heard in his voice as he spoke. Kelvin stood up from his seat with a smile on his face. It was Gregory, his father. He sauntered towards his father, and they fell into a warm embrace. "My boy!" His father said, patting his back, so much joy in his heart. After 3 years, he was seeing his son again. Then came a crowd
3 days had gone by, and it was finally time for the first board meeting, since Kelvin and Pamela took over the company. They had left the Capital and returned to Vancouzer a day earlier, to solidify their attendance at the meeting. It was snowing heavily that morning, as Kelvin sauntered towards his Lamborghini AVENTADOR SVJ, packed right outside the hotel where he lodged. He had sent back every security guard his family sent to look after him. One thing he hated was to appear rich and powerful amongst people. He loved and admired his ordinary life, he could go anywhere he wanted, at any time. As he got to his car, he waited for Pamela to join him. She came down afterwards, with two hefty security men following her behind. On seeing her and the security men, Kelvin sighed. He shook his head and crossed his hands together."Is that necessary?" He asked, but she ignored his question, with a smile on her face. Pamela liked to be respected and feared, especially when she was new to a pe
