Adrian bit on his lower lips with an angry look on his face as his gaze on Brian, who had a sly smile on his face as he forced the sedative into the glass cup of drink she was holding.
She was so carried away by his sweet words that she didn't notice what he was doing at that moment.
He wanted to go forward and challenge Brian to spike the drink of his wife but he stopped himself as he remembered that he wasn't with any evidence.
No one would believe it. He could only try to warn his wife to avoid and stay away from Brian.
He had always known that Brian didn't have good intentions toward his wife but he didn't tell his wife because she would think he was jealous and she might get angry at him.
And besides, she had been loyal to him.
He took a cold breath when he remembered that his wife and his mother-in-law were angry at him for turning down General Lei Feng's daughter's offer.
He could only hope that she would listen to him and stay away from Brian but he wouldn't be able to do anything if she insisted on staying with Brian.
He leaped toward his wife while clenching his crutches. Sarah looked up as she heard the sound of his crutches hitting the floor. She frowned as her gaze landed on Adrian, who was coming to her.
“Please excuse me, guy,” she excused herself from the friends she was chatting with. Brian was among them.
“What do you want?” She asked in a calm tone and he looked up at her.
“I want to tell you something,” he said and cleared his throat.
“Yes, I want to hear it. I want to know how you managed to revive Miss Evelyn and spot the problem,” she muttered in a calm tone and stared at him admiringly.
His heart fluttered as he heard her statement. The fear and anxiety inside of her dispersed into thin air almost immediately after she finished her statement.
He was glad that his wife didn't blame him for making such a decision.
“I'll tell you when we get home but I came here for something else. And it's important,” he said and she arched her eyebrows.
“Important? What is it?” She asked and stared at him curiously.
She wondered why he looked so serious.
“It’s about Brian,” he said and she looked up at him.
“What's up with him?” She asked with a confused look.
“I noticed something strange about him and how he'd been doing to you so I suggest you should stay away from him,” he said and she frowned.
“What! Don't tell me you made me leave my friend because of this?” She asked with an angry look on her face.
He nodded his head gently. “Yes. Please stay away from him because he has bad intentions toward you,” he said.
“Keep quiet,” she snapped at him.
“Don't tell me that you're jealous of my relationship with him. It's just a friend and business partner relationship,” she said and scowled.
She couldn't believe that she called him out so that she could ask him such a question.
“But what made you think he loved it that way?” He asked and she shook her head vehemently.
“That's enough, okay. I have had enough of you today,” she said and tried to walk away but he leaped forward and held her arm.
“Please believe me this time,” he said desperately.
“The last time I believed you, what did I get in return? I was humiliated and embarrassed so I don't want that to happen again,” she said and tried to snatch her hand away but he kept holding onto her.
She got angry and pushed him away. He lost his grip on the crutches and crashed hard on the floor with a heavy thud. The noise attracted noise.
“You should have listened when I told you to stay away from me,” she muttered and left the scene to meet Brian, who had a sly smile on his face.
“Look at him.”
“So shameless. Chasing someone like Miss Sarah?”
“Wake up from your dream, douchebag.”
“She can't be with him.”
The people who were around mocked him but he refused to let any of those comments get to him. He ignored it and staggered back to his feet.
He was determined to save his wife.
He got angry and leaped toward Brian.
“How may I help you, Mr Adrian?” Brian asked, with sarcasm dripping from his voice.
“It's simple. I want you to abort whatever evil plan you have against my wife because I won't let you succeed,” he warned.
“Are you threatening me?” Brian asked, unfazed by Adriana's cold gaze.
“Whatever you take it as. Stay away from my wife,” he said in a cold tone.
“Watch and see whether I'll succeed or not,” Brian said with a smirk as he watched Sarah drinking from the wine he'd drugged.
Adrian bit on his lower lips as he watched his wife drink from the wine. He walked out of the hotel and waited outside for an hour until Brian came out with his wife.
His wife looked weak and vulnerable. Her cheeks were red as tomatoes.
He decided to follow them. He couldn't afford anything to happen to his wife.
He hailed a cab and entered it without even negotiating with the driver for the price.
The cab followed Brian's car from a distance so he wouldn't be able to notice anyone trailing him.
Brian stepped out of his car with a smile beaming on his face. He opened the driver seat and carried her into his arms.
The receptionist greeted him warmly and gave him the keys to the room without wasting time.
Adrian came out of the car and clenched to the crutches so he wouldn't fall. He brought out some cash from his pocket and handed it over to the driver, who took off.
“Good evening, ma'am,” he greeted the receptionist after entering the standard hotel.
“How may we help you, Sir?” She asked, staring at him disdainfully. She didn't hide the contempt in her voice.
“Please what's the room number of the man who carried a drunk woman inside?” He asked hastily.
“Why should I give you such vital information?” She asked coldly.
“That's because I'm his friend,” he lied without blinking and the receptionist scoffed.
“I doubt that. Your appearance is nothing compared to theirs,” she said.
“What does my dress have to do with my relationship with them?” He asked in a frustrated tone and she scoffed.
“I suggest you leave before I call the security guards on you,” she said and he ignored her.
He glanced through her laptop and his gaze caught a glimpse of Brian's name on the system and the room code.
He left the receptionist and ran up the stairs to the room, not caring about his condition. He wouldn't be able to forgive him if anything happened to her.
Getting to the room, he kicked the door open, and to his surprise, the door creaked open. He clenched to the crutches to stabilize his stamina.
His eyes burned with anger as his gaze landed on Brian, who was about to have sex with his wife.
She was almost naked. Her clothes were stripped off. She was only in her panties and bra.
“How dare you, Brian!”
“How dare you!” Brian dropped his hand from Sarah's waist with a frustrated look on his face as he heard Adrian's voice from behind. He turned back and a soft gasp left his lips as his gaze landed on Adrian. He was awe-struck to see Adrian in his hotel room. Not only did Adrian have the gut to stalk him to the hotel but he also found his way into his hotel room. How did he do it? Why wasn't he thrown out? However, Brian remained unfazed. “It's a wonder how you managed to enter the hotel without being thrown by the security men,” Brian said and chuckled mockingly. Adrian's eyes burned with anger after hearing Brian's statement. He couldn't believe that Brian could still be talking to him in such a way despite what he did to his wife. He moved closer to him and clenched to the crutches with his left hand then raised his right hand and slapped him fiercely on his cheek. Brian staggered backward as the impact of the slap made him lose his stamina. He placed his hand on his right c
“Brian?” Sarah asked with a confused look on her face and he nodded his head. He placed his hand on his chest and cleared his throat. “That’s the truth. He brought you here.”“The other time that I warned you to stay away from him, I saw him putting a substance inside your drink while you were unaware. I warned him to stay away from you but he refused. I came…” she interrupted him with a deep frown on her face before he could finish explaining to her. “Can’t you hear yourself?” She asked with a cold look on her face. “You claimed that it was Brian who brought me to this place but how come that I'm here with you?” she asked in a cold tone and he shook his head with a sigh. He knew it would be hard to convince his wife that he was only trying to help her from the wolf in human clothing. “Please listen and try to understand me,” he said and crouched close to her but she sent a cold glare at him. “I won't. Keep whatever explanation you have to yourself,” she said and he bit on his l
“What!” Adrian gasped out in shock with a surprised look on his face. He couldn't understand why they wanted to arrest him just because he was having a nice time with his wife. Wasn't Sarah his wife? Why all of this? He wished he could get an answer to those questions that were disturbing his mind but he couldn't. He was clueless with no direction. Once again, he would be cheated upon. “Come with you to your custody? What do you mean, officer?” Adrian asked with a confused look, his heart was racing rapidly. “Yes, you have to come with me to the custody for interrogation,” the officer said in a cold tone and Brianna hissed. “What's the meaning of this, officer? I told you that he has sex with my daughter. He assaulted her and you're saying you want to take him away for interrogation.”“I thought you were supposed to take him away and lock him up in a cell,” Brianna said in an angry tone as she turned to the officer. “That's enough, madam. You can't tell me what to do so let me do
What! Adrian gasped out in shock and his mouth widened agape, unable to comprehend the revelation. How is that possible? He asked himself but he couldn't get an answer to himself. He didn't want to believe that the officer was lying. He needed to do something or he might end up in the cell for trying to save his wife, who was almost destroyed by the effect of the aphrodisiac drug. “You can't arrest me. I didn't bring her here,” he adamantly opposed and the officer became impatient. “Don't make me angry, Mr. Man. This is the proof before you so why are you still opposing me? If you don't comply, I would have to force you to then,” the officer said and Adrian kept quiet for a while. He took a deep breath. “You can't arrest me for the crime that I didn't commit. I didn't do anything to her,” he said in a cold tone. Sarah felt the sincerity in his voice but the anger boiling inside of her wouldn't let her admit it. “That's the proof before you. You can check it yourself,” the offic
Brian? He was surprised when he heard his name. He thought the officer called the wrong cellmate until the officer called him by his name after sending his doubt. Why would Brian want to see him and not his wife? Somehow, he was disappointed that it was Brian and not his wife who came to the police station to check up on him. He thought it was his wife at first and he was beginning to have hope until he discovered it was his wife. The level of disappointment he felt couldn't be explained. He wondered why she chose to believe a stranger over him. She would have believed him under any circumstances but she chose not to believe him now. “Are you sure of what you're saying, officer?” He asked and his cellmate scoffed inwardly. “Will you get up and stop questioning me? I thought I had answered your question earlier,” the policeman complained that something was wrong. “Whatever,” Adrian shook his head with a sigh and rolled his eyes at the officer, who failed to notice it because of t
“Okay fine,” Adrian shrugged and moved backward then sat down on the chair. He leaned on the wall behind him and caressed his chin calmly with a sly smile on his face. He shook his head after estimating the time he had left before Dean, who was Dark Ace's minion, would give up the ghost. He wished he could save him but since they had underestimated him, he didn't have any reason to intervene. That was the type of world we live in. The rich or people at higher levels tend to belittle the poor or the less privileged. Or isn't it? “What are we going to do?” Dark Ace asked worriedly but none of them said anything. They couldn't tell what was happening to their friend. “Mr. Lucas, please can you help us?” Dark Ace asked nervously as he turned to a middle-aged man, who was sitting quietly in a corner with a cold look on his face. For the first time, Adrian noticed the presence of another man in the cell room apart from those cellmates who were trying to harass him before one o
“The commander?” Adrian asked with a worried look on his face and the female officer nodded her head affirmatively. “Are you sure?” He asked again, his heart racing rapidly. He didn't know the crime he had offended, which made the commander interested in seeing him. “Yes. And you should be at ease because he means no harm,” she said and he nodded his head calmly. “Don't worry. You'll be fine,” Dark Ace said and patted his shoulder. “We got your back,” they carried him to his feet and Dean stretched his crutches to him. He couldn't find the genuine smile that crept on his face after those guys helped him up. Unlike the rich people he saved on his wife's birthday, these people before him were grateful for saving their friend's life. He loved it. His head shook slightly after he remembered that he was being called the commander. Was it because of what Brian said? Did he talk to the commander to punish him? Different negative thoughts began to roam around in his head and e
“You don't need to thank me because you're going to save some lives today so I hope you won't disappoint me,” the commander said and he smiled. “Of course, I won't. I'll do all I can in my power to save them, Sir,” Adrian said confidently and the commander smiled. “But sir how did I know that you won't go back on your…” the commander interrupted him before he could complete his statement. “Go back on my words?” The commander asked as though he knew what Adrian wanted to say. Adrian stared at him with a surprised look, unable to fathom how that man managed to know it was him. “Yes, sir,” he responded and lowered his head. “Well, I know this is going to happen, that's why I prepared this contract to validate my words,” the commander said and brought out two copies of documents. He stretched one at Adrian and kept the other one for himself. “What is this, Sir?” he asked. “That is the agreement between both of us that I'll release after you save those patients in the ward. I'm doi
