“So what are you?” A lackey?”

“Hey! Hold your mouth there. We are not in the streets where you can speak as you like, this is the Edwards family house

You dare not spit nonsense here,”

“A lackey it is,” Alex nodded his head as he said these words causing the man's anger to skyrocket. The man wanted to speak but Alex intruded,

“What's the name again…? Huh… Damn it! Can't seem to remember. Anyways, I always seem to forget unless things,”

Isaac pressed his lips together to stop himself from bursting into laughter.

Thomas gritted his teeth in anger. He had seen Alex when he was having issues with Jean and her partner and he was excited that he didn't have to deal with him, but it looked like he'll have to handle the man by himself.

Meanwhile, Alex had returned his attention to his food as he began to eat again. The people around began to whisper amongst themselves. They could help but feel anger inside them as they saw how Alex was eating free food in a party he didn't bring any gif

The guests stood stupefied, even Isaac was shocked at his young master's words. He didn't know whether to laugh or cry because he knew that if it was money for a gift, Alex could buy a lot and still not lack money. He stared at the man who was pissed that his food was taken from him and not even at the insults the guests were pouring at him. He even went as low as calling himself a freeloader. “Who said that?” A voice rang throughout the hall. The people gasped when they saw who was coming through but Alex didn't flinch. He sat there comfortably even when others were standing. And that was one reason he didn't see who was coming.Thomas was quick to point his finger at Alex. He was so happy that someone from the Edward family has finally come to deal with Alex by himself“This arrogant man!” Thomas spat as he continued to point at Alex.Alex sighed, shaking his head when he finally saw who it was that had come to stand before him. “I told you he came here just for food,” Thomas said to the head of the Edward family. The old man was fuming in anger as he continued to look at Alex whose eyes weren't even on him. His eyes were on Kenneth and Thomas, he had asked them a question after all. “Young man, just apologize and let this go. You don't want to mess with the wrong family,” one of the guests said but Alex shrugged as he got up from his chair, “I don't see why I should apologize. I haven't offended anyone. All I came to do was eat but they came here and took my food and my drink. It wasn't fare at all, so they are at fault, why should I apologize?” He asked with arched brows. The old man flew in a rage,“You sick boy, do you know that I can throw you in jail for this? You… you…” “That's enough. I am not going to apologize on any basis you drop at me. I won't apologize for no reason,” he straightened his shirt before saying to Isaac,“Let's get out of here. Seems we have overstayed our welcome,” Isaac stoo

Turning around, Alex caught sight of a woman. He frowned, he knew this woman from somewhere but couldn't place his finger on it. Her dark purple lips stuck, where did he know this woman from again? He kept thinking but it seemed to have slipped off his mind. So much for being unimportant. He turned away from them and continued speaking with the sales girl when he heard again, forcing him to turn around the second time. “Hey, you!” Beside her, was a man who had a scowl on his face. He looked like Alex had once stepped on his tail and he was here for revenge. Alex stood still wondering what he had done to the man. He can't recall causing trouble to this man. The man and the woman began to walk towards him while the sales girls watched, including the girl who was attending to Alex. They wondered what was about to happen, they wanted to watch the drama because they could see how the woman and the man were talking toward them in anger. “You! It had nothing to do with me” he replied and proceeded to walk out when the young man yelled.“Don’t you dare! You would kowtow to my woman this instinct with no further argument” he yelled. Alex sighed and turned back to the man.“You keep saying impossible things and I’m starting to think you might just be looking for trouble or someone to upset and I would say you have picked the wrong guy cause I don’t have time to entertain your nuisance and drama. Take your…..baby and fuck off!” Alex replied and this time he sounded more serious than ever. He looked tired and ju

That was a power move in and of itself. As they got closer to the Parker Foundation Annual Charity Auction door, Isaac, dressed like the most unobtrusive piece of furniture in the world, handed him a black folder."Are you certain about this?" Isaac muttered as he looked over the sandstone stairs that led to the structure. "You had the option of sending someone else to keep an eye on the room."Alex looked up at the big hall, which was owned by Parker, had been painstakingly restored, and was adorned with banners promoting "Urban Renewal through Private Partnership." That afternoon, the sun dared to be happy. Perched atop a verdant hill, the Simon residence resembled a boutique hotel rather than a home. high arches. broad driveways. The guests all parked themselves, but there were uniformed valets. Soft jazz murmured through the open windows within. The back garden was covered with a big buffet table filled with expensive foods, including tiny crab cakes, some indistinguishable mousse in glass spoons, and skewers that looked more ornamental than actually been edible. Plate in hand, Alex watched the gathering with mild interest as he leaned against a pillar next to the open French doors. He was dressed in pants that were a tad too casual for the event and a simple white button-up shirt. Although his loafers were polished, it didn't take away from the reality that he didn't fit in

He listened, nodded at the proper spots, asked two good questions and one purposefully dumb one—just enough to sell the persona. The woman, whose badge said "Danica," led him into a little demonstration space, seated him in front of a touchscreen, and started to describe the newest "intelligent route optimizer" that the business had created.Alex listened to her. He was concerned about fleet allocations, GPS crossovers, and something labeled "shadow routes and their Q3 forecast" that inadvertently flashed across the screen between slides. He put everything away. He got up and moved nonchalantly to the whiteboard near the far wall as Danica excused herself to get brochures. A basic outline of a restructuring plan had been put up, complete with names, dates, and most importantly the move of monies from "G.L. Ops" to "Council Rep Fund."Greenline once more.Pretending to
