Brittany briefly lost her footing and struggled to close her mouth, which had been open for seconds. She had not expected it to be true, and part of her wished it was a lie. She could not imagine having Lily in Gabriel’s life. It would be hell for both her and Gabriel, and she was not prepared.

“Give that to me!” Gabriel demanded, grasping the test. When he saw it, his brow wrinkled, and he tossed it back at Lily.

“How is this possible? How did you even get my DNA?”

He raised his voice while questioning Lily. Earlier, he wanted to avoid divorcing her, and the universe had heard him, but this was not what he wanted. He did not expect Lily to be pregnant, and he knew better than to divorce her. It would detract from the public image he was attempting to establish. She had him exactly where she wanted him, and it made him feel vulnerable once more.
